Elements of the left are claiming now that America’s national parks are built on systemic racism.“The outdoors and public lands suffer from the same systemic racism that the rest of our society does,” Joel Pannell, associate director of the Sierra Club, said in an ABC report, titled “America’s Great White Outdoors.” The report called the parks “stubborn bastions of self-segregation.”“If we don’t address this, and we don’t see how all these things are interrelated, then we’re going to risk losing everything,” Pannell said. “You’re not going to have public lands to enjoy.”The report is part of a wave of sometimes violent protests taking place across the nation after

So, are we going to have to force minorities to go to National Parks?
Makes no sense.

Yes. There will be forced busing of inner city blacks to the national parks, and they will enjoy the great outdoors or be sent off to re-education camps. Can't get them to attend the current government indoctrination centers, the public schools. Something must be done.

They don’t know what to do at the national parks? Are you out of your minds? You get in your car, drive through the lil booth, pay your $20 and enjoy some of the most magnificent scenery in the world. Now, that wasn’t hard, was it?

Another attack on the US national identity.
How does the National Park System attract people without any interest in the outdoors, and without any outdoor skills or proclivities?
As in so many aspects of “woke,” perspective, how is this a problem public policy is meant to solve?
Go, or don’t go. Unbelievable.

It seems to my observation that the Sierra Club itself is a bastion of stubborn systemic racism. It’s top-heavy with melanin-challenged soy latte drinkers as the movers and shakers. Oh, there’s a few non-whites here and there, available for photo-ops.

This is where we must guard our national parks. We are dealing with crazy people and you don't know what they would do next. Fires come to mind. They had no problem with destroying businesses, etc.

Look for the democrats to fix this. Expect Pelosi to introduce a bill to allocate $500 million for the construction of outdoor basketball courts in the national parks and to provide spray paint cans to all park visitors at the park entrance. Also, to reduce the number of Park Rangers by fifty percent.

The Sierra Club is a leftists, racist organization. Leftists are the main ones who think whites are the master race. Leftists think black people need them to get along in the world. What would black people do without their punk white masters? Ain't no black person freakin' scared of going to a national park because of some systemic racism. Take this Joel: give your freakin' job and all your wealth to the next black person you see. Then off yourself for the destruction of systemic racism. You've done nothing about all this systemic racism all this time, so you are guilty as sin. Do it! That Vela person is freakin' weak; he need to just stop talking. The challenge of our time is not racism, it's marxism.

The first non Indian to extensively explore Mammoth Cave was a slave named Stephen Bishop. He drew the first workable map of the cave system. Sadly, he died too young of tuberculosis but after the Civil War a number of his cousins served as cave guides. He's a man I admire for his bravery and curiosity, and since I live near Mammoth Cave, I have visited his grave in the old guides cemetery many times. He loved the cave and I suspect he'd have some choice words for Joel Pannell. I'll settle for calling Pannell an idiot.

Why is the concept of governance by "Democracy" so difficult a concept for Democrats? We are the majority and get to say how things are done.

Mammoth Cave attracts lots of tourists from Japan, Korea and India. I guess they are counted as people of color. I was taking a hike one day admiring the spring wildflowers and a couple from Japan asked me if I knew the names of the flowers, I did (I majored in biology) and spent a pleasant time talking to them and telling them the names of all the flowers while they took pictures.

The old saying "give them an inch and they will take a Foot" comes to mind. Every time we turn around they are DEMANDING something or other! I think they should shut up already. I'm sick and tired of their demands. As for Basketball courts in the National Forests...didn't we already try something like that? Remember Midnight Basketball was Obama's idea! As I remember it didn't work out well at all!! And where the heck is Pelosi getting all this money she wants to throw around? 500 Million! She acts like we're talking about 500 Dollars! Crazy Person! Maybe she could donate the Courts with her own Millions!

Good grief! Stop this madness! Everything cannot possibly be racist. The people pushing this bunch of bunk are insane. They have lost all credibility and are now just making themselves a laughingstock. The media are driving this division and have to be the very worst people on the planet. How evil do you have to be to continue to push a total fallacy knowing the damage it is doing to the country. These people are just evil. This is the theater of the absurd writ large.

Visiting National Parks/ State Parks is a family activity. It is my experience that families— a father, a mother, and their children— are who take road trips to parks. It involves taking vacation time, saving money for the trip, and logistics best managed by more than one parent. Disney World, same deal. Perhaps, The Sierra Club should advocate for stable two parent families instead of throwing in with the Marxists who want to destroy them.

Using that P.C. lens, everything is " racist ". The entire country must racist because there are more white people than black people. But do they consider basketball racist ? Mostly made up of black people.

So let's turn off Old Faithful, fill in the Grand Canyon, Melt the Glaciers at Glacier National and paint a very large mural on Half Dome. Then cover them all over with basketball courts.
In my life, I have only been to The Grand Canyon and Mesa Verde. If you do not have the time or ability to travel the distance to these places you are less likely to go there. As such, urban dwellers are far less likely to visit National Parks. It is not racism, as no one is discouraging anyone from going there. There is no one making minorities feel uncomfortable. It is just culture, where you live and what you choose to do or have the ability to do. Going to National Parks out West if you live in a City and do not have a car can be somewhat difficult.

This is really sad...as in pathetic. Let's call it what it really is...an obsessive hate of anything associated with white people based on jealousy of their achievements and anger at their own perceived lack of self worth. In psychology, it's called "displacement." Transferring their anger and striking out at other people or things instead of themselves.
Same with Marxists/Democrats, white or otherwise. The obsessive destructiveness is the tell. "We hate you because you are richer/smarter/normal-er/happier than we are. You don't deserve it. We do. So we're going to destroy anything and everything about you."

The left is hell bent on destroying America. They want its totally destruction so that it can be forced to part of a communist new world order. The news organizations are their biggest tool to attempt to make all Americans agree with their hatred of everything American. These idiots, including the mainstream news orgs. need to be destroyed instead.

Are whites not going to be allowed into parks unless they have a black person in their car?

Retired we camp and travel the parks of our nation blacks are not people who are seen frequently. I guess our national parks are too beautiful and pristine they need more garbage and debris throw out car windows to make them 'authentically' black and woke. We need beer bottles, cans and empty fried chicken buckets on the side of the road with rap music blasting out of cars. I guess the 'woke' Sierra Club has a dream.

Actually, #15, that is not correct. The Sierra Club used to be primarily about trail books, volunteering for trail maintenance, supporting new wilderness areas and similar non-political things. In the 90s the Communists were looking for a place to hide out, burrow in, raise money, retain their power. They chose the environmental groups and infiltrated them, entirely taking them over.
I abandoned membership in several outdoors oriented groups at that point, and despise what the Sierra Club, Wilderness Society, and the others have become. But the were not always like that.

Gee, I always believed the great outdoors was for anybody that cares to enjoy it. Now I learn from the scum at BLM and their ilk is the outdoors is now racist like black people should never go outside now because it is SO racist. Anybody that listens to this dribble is sick in the head. Joe Biden believes it!

We have a history. It is not perfect but it is our history and it testifies to the long march from the slavery of some to the equality of all. A people without a past do not have a future. A people with an imperfect past, one that teaches lessons, has a historical future to transform the world.
