The Washington Redskins are facing growing pressure to rebrand as FedEx, a top sponsor, has officially requested a name change while Nike, the NFL's apparel provider, has removed team merchandise from its website. FedEx said in a statement Thursday it had requested the team change its name, ostensibly using its leverage as the title sponsor of the Redskins' stadium in Landover, Maryland to persuade team owner Daniel Snyder. Meanwhile, the NFL's official apparel provider, Nike, has made no statement over the matter, but silently scrapped all merchandise bearing the team's name or logo from its online store.

Keep the name Redskins - change the mascot to a potato.

Maybe "Blackskins" since most of the players are black.

They were my favorite team from childhood into my 30s. This gives me 3 distinct excuses to get a few fan items...
Replenishment (20 years since I had any team gear)
Investment (may become collector's items)
Protest (push back against the woke mob mentality)
Hail to the Redskins
Hail Victory
Braves on the Warpath
Fight for old D.C.

I think Rush said it best - the greatest revenge is success. The Redskiins should consider themselves free of the NFL-Nike contract and sell their own merchandise. Then win a championship and Nike will come a crawlin.

I demand that FEDEX change it's name! Ex is often used as a slur against divorced people- especially women! Seeing than name on all those trucks is hurtful, and shows a lack of compassion!
Maybe ''Generic Package Delivery.''

The name FedEx is racist; how about they change their name? Nike has to be racist too; Redskins, demand both to change their names.

Just shorten it, Washington Reds, to reflect the ideology of those who rule over us regardless of who is elected president. Think back to the booing when Trump attended the DC World Series game.
Or, Washington Regulators. Or, Washington Deficits. Or, Washington Transkins. Or, BLM Skins. Or, Washington Dossiers. Or, ........ I just realized that the truly offensive part of the name is Washington, not Redskins. Need to drop all mention of this great American patriot because he owned slaves. And we can’t say District of Columbia because of Christopher Columbus connection. Columbus didn’t own slaves but he surely thought about it. So, would the Districters work?

Meanwhile, the sports company Under Armour, is currently dismantling their agreement with one of the big Cali college teams with multi millions at stake. Seems the college is refusing to keep to the agreement that they had with UA for some reason, so they are exercising their right to dump this school. The school is going to be devastated by the loss of nearly a quarter billion dollars in funds. Bwahahahaha, could not happen to a more deserving school too.
These leftist companies just need to stop bullying companies to do things their way. Would love to see these team owners just say screw it, we are gonna be postponing new uniforms this year. Let the leftists cry about that if they want to.

The left loves polls. The Redskins should poll 1000 native Americans and ask them if they should change the team's name. And ask them to provide a replacement name if they wish the name to be changed. Odds are the name will stay or another tribe's name, or nickname will be substituted. Then watch the left's heads explode.

I'm not a Redskins fan at all, but this whole thing about changing the name of the team is just so juvenile. If I owned the team, I'd tell these clowns to pound sand. I would change the mascot however like #1 has stated, but it would be to a snowflake.

Someone tell the NFL that this is a Free Enterprise Economy. If people object to the name Redskins, then they will not support the team. Because this is a Free Enterprise Economy, I will not purchase any Nike products. no shoes, shirts, work out clothes, nothing with the logo Nike on the product.
NFL should stop all production of anything made in china. Its funny how they go after a football team but support slave labor.

I'd go with a new name that would be perfect for DC and guys everywhere: "Washington Free Bacon". Political pork, hog linemen, and a local newspaper (Washington Free Beacon) you could buy cheap and just drop the "e" in Beacon to run an all-sports newspaper to boot. BLT sandwiches and beer in the concession stands too. Guy heaven, baby.

What the OP wrote. If I was living in the early 1860’s as a Northerner and saw what would happen in 2020, I would urge Lincoln not to free the slaves, but simply ship them back to Africa!

For the 50 years I was a huge Cowboys fan, hating the Redskins was the funnest part of the game!!!
Now I could care less what the racist thugs in the NFL are doing!!!
But the Redskins has better learn that the racist thugs demanding they change their name see capitulation as weakness. As soon as they change their name, they will be demanding more and more capitulation. It will never end, and they will only have themselves to blame.
But, like I said, I really couldn't care less any more. I haven't watched a down of the NFL in over 3 years. And I never plan to watch another down. The NFL is dead to me!!!
And saddest of all, based on how the racist thug mentality as has invaded the NCAA, and all these spoiled college players are making "demands" of their universities, I have the feeling that I have watched my last down of college football too.
I guess I can still get my football fix on Friday nights at the local high school!!!
