national anthem before Week 1 games

"Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing," traditionally known as the Black national anthem, is expected to be performed live or played before every Week 1 NFL game, and the league is considering a variety of other measures during the upcoming season to recognize victims of police brutality, a source familiar with the league's discussions told The Undefeated on Thursday. The song would be performed before "The Star-Spangled Banner," the source said. The NFL's season opener is scheduled for Sept. 10, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans.

We have a black national anthem? Seriously? So the anthem, songs, hymns, nursery rhymes, all this has been declared racist now? How about the color of my car? Whatever genius decided we have a "black" national anthem is absolutely racist. Seeing and thinking only of skin color, that's racist.

It’s a non-event as far as I’m concerned. I don’t watch football anyway. If I were asked to recognize the lyrics and music of this so-called anthem, I would draw a complete blank, as I would with 99% of what is popular music nowadays.

Maybe they'll include the third verse. Then watch the Left go crazy over these words: God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Thou who has brought us thus far on the way; Thou who has by Thy might Led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee, Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee; Shadowed beneath Thy hand, May we forever stand. True to our God, True to our native land.

In The United States of America we have one, count it , one national anthem because we are one country, one people. This P.C. cr*p is divisive . No. 10, I guess "hookem" means you are a Texas Longhorns fan, but sadly you may have noticed your school songs "The Eyes of Texas" is now considered racist by your own players. What has infected the NFL has now arrived at the NCAA level, and if you see what happened to Mike Gundy for the sin of watching a news channel that doesn't bow down to BLM you'll see where the game is headed.

Several years ago Rush predicted the NFL would not last. It seems not they are committing political suicide. Their fan base is shrinking and will soon be gone all together as the insult and ignore the people who support them. The solution: Shut up, stay out of politics and just play football. I will never watch them again.

Due to the planned demic, there is speculation that games may be played, but without spectators in the stands to prevent the spread of Covid. The NFL commissioner has just cemented that almost NOBODY will be watching games played in their homes-- the 'woke' league plays to the Kapernicks and no longer the fans. Defund the NFL. Not sure if I will be listening to 'America's Team' on radio this year.

When the networks introduce the players, instead of where they attended school, I want to hear how many babies they have fathered, and by how many women, how many arrests and listing of the charges, how much they paid for college, what their college grades were, the amount of their salaries as compared to the average American, what they have been doing with all their spare time in off seasons, and a detail listing of what they spend and what they spend it on. I think that would allow us to give an honest measure of their characters, as opposed to the announcer telling us what good guys they are. I would also like to have the Commissioner tell us at the beginning of each game his beliefs and values, recite them every Sunday before the game. Then follow that with each of the owners telling us what their beliefs and values, before every game. I want to see these guys, and see if they be fools, or not.

Let's see. The NFL is filled with black football players who make millions playing football. Some are great people but some have been accused of many crimes. Do we condemn them all for the sins of a few? The stadiums are filled with white football fans who pay thousands of dollars to watch them play. The Media survives on million dollar ads from those dastardly corporations run by white men. Where's the beef????? Why do millionaire black football players who often come from poverty hate America? Where else could they have done any better? They obviously have no idea what they are fighting for. If this keeps up, all will lose. The money will dry up and go away. It has already started.

How about in Week #2, should the NFL play the Mexican hat dance before the National Anthem? It’s unbelievable that a commercial entity like the NFL that is all about making money would potentially drive away about half or more of their paying customers. As the reason most people attend or watch professional football games is to get away for a few hours from their everyday troubles including politics.

Black national anthem? There's a black national anthem? Who knew? What nation does it refer to? Do most blacks even know the black national anthem, and how it goes? I'm curious what the words are to the anthem. How long has this song been around? Seems the NFL is purposely trying to put a wedge between fans of the sport. I was not ok with the pink fest that made everything but the football itself pink during a month of the season. I mean a week is ok, but a whole month? How many players are going to get breast cancer. Why not a month of blue for prostate cancer. Every one of these players is going to get prostate cancer at some point. It's just a matter how long they live.

Another day, another scapegoat. Or two. For months, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been desperate to find somebody, anybody, to blame for the nursing-home carnage he helped to cause. The list of those he blamed was blasphemous — it started with God. It was ludicrous when he later aimed at President Trump and The Post. His latest bid is simply scandalous. Cuomo has the nerve to blame grieving family members and heroic nursing-home staffers, charging they were the ones who infected and killed as many 12,000 elderly and helpless residents.

Washington- Many Americans, after they have been in Washington, D.C., for a few years, become less fervent about their beliefs. Donald Trump has become more fervent about the things he believes. After this past weekend and Donald’s solemnly expressed indignation about the shredding of our shared values and beliefs he is being excoriated by the media — the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Washington Post — for being divisive, racist, and provocative. For some reason Americans both on the left and the right have taken a pass on defending American values and beliefs. Donald Trump is not taking a pass. He is indignant.

The week prior, five children were caught in the crossfire, in which three died. Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial. Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and inclusion across our society, not least in higher education, journalism, philanthropy, and the arts. But this needed reckoning has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity. As we applaud the first development, we also raise our voices against the second.

Would you be shocked to learn that a big hunk of the citizenry is absolutely convinced that Donald Trump will not only be re-elected but re-elected in a landslide? It’s true, and it’s not an ironic or performative belief, but rather one drawn from a perspective that the mainstream media utterly ignores. This means you probably have no idea it even exists, and that could lead to an unpleasant surprise in November. Well, unpleasant for you. Remember that apocryphal anecdote about how Pauline Kael moaned that she did not know anyone voting for Dick Nixon? If you’re here, then that’s very likely you.

And just when you thought we had reached bottom, there’s deeper level to the madness. It seems incomprehensible, and yet there’s a simple explanation. America is being held hostage. Let us pause for a moment and consider the Primary Model, a political forecasting method which predicts the ultimate outcome of White House races on voting patterns from presidential primaries. The model has a laudable track record. Established in 1996 by Stony Brook University political science professor Helmut Norpoth, the Primary Model correctly picked the victors in multiple presidential elections — including the last one. On March 7, 2016, it predicted then-candidate Donald Trump had an 87% chance of defeating Hillary Clinton. Will the president also vanquish Democratic nominee Joseph R. Biden?

If Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth eventually becomes Joe Biden’s vice presidential nominee, pundits and historians will look back to Independence Day weekend for the moment when her campaign jumped from insider gossip to mainstream appeal. Duckworth has long been considered an outside contender for the vice presidency. Her resumé is a Democratic dream: a combat veteran of the Iraq War, Duckworth sacrificed her legs in service to her country. After entering the House of Representatives in 2006 — flipping a Republican district long held by the abhorrent Henry Hyde, no less — Duckworth established herself as a progressive legislator and

The US drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s top general, and nine other people was a violation of international law, according to the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killing. The strike violated the UN Charter, she wrote in a report that calls for accountability for targeted killings by armed drones and for greater regulation of the weapons.(Snip) But absent an actual imminent threat to life, the course of action taken

The Duke of Sussex, 35, made the comment as he joined wife Meghan Markle, 38, for a video call with young leaders from the Queen's Commonwealth Trust last week that was made public today. As part of the discussion on 'justice and equal rights', Harry said the Commonwealth needs to follow others
