Burien, Wash.—Almost all of the city of Burien's Pride flags were stolen from downtown this week and the police are now investigating the incident.
Burien city leaders discovered that 38 of the 40 Pride flags installed downtown had been removed and stolen, according to a city press release. The flags were put up by Discover Burien in support of Pride Month, which is recognized in June as a way to celebrate members of the LGBTQ+ community and commemorate the Stonewall riots that occurred on June 28, 1969.

It is rare when a cable news host comes right out and says “I’m not objective.” And on CNN on Wednesday night, host Chris Cuomo seemed to acknowledge the many ethical dilemmas arising from his repeated interviews with his big brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, as he appeared to offer a final, praiseworthy send-off to his elder sibling. After yet another intra-family interview, in which the younger Cuomo offered some blunt questions about the state’s nursing home deaths scandal — but offered little aggressive follow-up to the older Cuomo’s dismissals — the CNN host nodded at the “unusual” circumstances of journalist questioning his own politician brother.

Former President Barack Obama has once again lashed out at the Trump administration and Senate Republicans, this time during a virtual fundraiser for former Vice President Joe Biden’s White House campaign on Tuesday.
Obama accused President Trump of taking a “shambolic, disorganized, mean spirited approach to government,” which he judged as antithetical to American values. The former president stated:
What we have seen over the last couple of years is a White House enabled by Republicans in Congress and a media structure that supports them that has not just differed in terms of policy but has gone at the very foundations of who we are and who we should be.

Due process is not the strong suit of mobs. Neither is nuance, open discussion, or disagreement. These inherent defects should be painfully obvious as mobs pull down statues, seize sections of cities, and demand the public approach them on bended knee, literally. Anyone who dares push back, perhaps with a mild tweet saying “All lives matter,” faces immediate censure. If the mob is successful, any offenders will lose their jobs. Feckless employers are all too eager to appease the mob and hope it turns on another target.
In this perilous environment, the most frenzied voices do more than dominate the public square.

A federal appeals court on Wednesday ordered a judge to grant the Department of Justice's (DOJ) unusual move to drop charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn. A three-judge panel on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals approved Flynn's petition to intervene in the case after a district court judge had tapped an outside counsel to argue against the DOJ's move. The panel ruled 2-1, with two Republican-appointed judges carrying the majority, that U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan overstepped his authority in second-guessing the prosecutors' decision.

Angry Brits want a royal order founded in 1818 under King George III redesigned because the image of St. Michael crushing the head of Satan reminds them of a Minneapolis police officer kneeling on George Floyd.

Last Friday, three months after Louisville, Kentucky, police officers gunned down a 26-year-old EMT and aspiring nurse named Breonna Taylor during a fruitless drug raid, acting Police Chief Robert Schroeder initiated the termination of Detective Brett Hankison, who he said had "displayed an extreme indifference to the value of human life" when he "wantonly and blindly fired 10 rounds" into Taylor's apartment. But Hankison's recklessness is just one element of the circumstances that led to Taylor's senseless death, which never would have happened if politicians did not insist on using violence to enforce their pharmacological prejudices.

Elizabeth Rogliani, a Venezuelan actress living in the U.S., told followers on Tik Tok why she is concerned to see statues being torn down and roads being renamed in America:
ELIZABETH ROGLIANI: Why do I even worry about some silly little statues coming down or some silly little street names changing? Why do I care?
It is because the last time I didn't care about this, I was a teenager. I have already lived through this thing when I was living in Venezuela. Statues came down -- Chavez didn't want that history displayed. And then he changed the street names

Today’s yellow brick road to a coronavirus-free world is as phony as the one Dorothy took to find her way back home (in “The Wizard of Oz”). Too many are acting as though they are characters in a fantasy instead of real human beings in the actual world. Such an astounding disorientation as we are witnessing on account of a virus leaves little doubt that political maneuvering and the hand of corporate media have a lot to do with the oppressive official response to Covid-19. Relying on the mainstream media for all you need to know about this pandemic is to put your faith in its honesty and objectivity.

One of the byproducts of anarchy is totalitarianism. People cannot sustain living in a wholly destabilized society, and they will invariably seek a strong man to create order. Order, after all, was Hitler’s promise following the utter chaos of the 1920s.
Democrats, with their simultaneous attacks against both Trump and civil order, are hoping that they can herd people into voting for Biden, with the promise that a Biden presidency will bring peace. And it will – a Roman peace, along the lines of Tacitus’s famous statement that the Romans “ravage, they slaughter, they seize by false pretenses, and all of this they hail as the construction of empire.

When it comes to players taking a knee during the National Anthem, will Americans side with the USA or the NFL?
At this point, nobody knows for sure, but those on the left are feeling emboldened and confident for a reason. Have middle-class Americans become increasingly complacent and lost the will to stand up and fight back?
NFL owners who support their players kneeling during the National Anthem are routinely heard saying they feel that the act of kneeling shows respect for the hardships minorities have endured and that it exhibits inclusivity and brings the country together.
At the risk of sounding overly disdainful regarding such deceptive drivel,

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden may not be moving much, but he’s proving a tougher target for President Trump than his past political opponents.
Less than five months from the election, the Trump campaign team is still trying to find the right message to defeat Biden. The president has stuck with the “Sleepy Joe” nickname, though his campaign is as likely to go with “Hidin’ Biden,” to mock his low-key approach to the trail, or “Beijing Biden,” to paint the Democrat as soft on China. But none of these have defined the former vice president as effectively as “Crooked Hillary” Clinton,

We often hear blacks complain about the struggles they deal with as a minority group in the USA. We hear that blacks are being oppressed by a system that holds them back because of their race. Some of their so-called "leaders" are telling them they can't make it in America due to the lack of opportunities for "people of color." When someone, black or white, disagrees with that antediluvian contention, he's likely to be branded as a racist. Yes, even if you're black and disagree with a white that racism is universal, you'll be deemed a racist.

When I see the images from Lafayette Square last night or from the weekend across the country of radical leftists and anarchists tearing down or defacing memorials to some of America’s greatest heroes, what I keep wondering is: where are the conservative leaders who have said so much and done so little to defend our history?
For decades, the conservative movement has profited off the invocation of the American Founding. Multiple political analysts have said over the years that the biggest mistake Democrats made was letting Republicans have The Bible and the Flag, and the right has certainly profited from it.

TRUMP WELCOMES DUDA: For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic shut down much of official Washington, President Trump is welcoming a visiting foreign leader to the White House. Polish President Andrzej Duda will meet with Trump on Wednesday to discuss "further advancing our cooperation on defense, as well as trade, energy, and telecommunications security,” according to the White House, followed by a planned joint news conference.
The visit comes as Trump has rattled NATO allies and some Republicans in Congress over his surprise announcement that he plans to pull almost 10,000 troops out of Germany and perhaps redeploy some to other more favored allies, such as Poland.

The recent spate of statue toppling is not just vandalism of the rabble gone wild. It’s more than that, much more.
So far in this current cycle, the statues of Confederates, Christopher Columbus, George Washington, a Spanish missionary, U.S. Grant, a Texas Ranger, and an Oregon pioneer, to name a few, have either been torn down by mobs or removed by officials who have surrendered to the swarming Woke activists. It’s not easy to decide who is more contemptible, the thugs pulling down the memorials or the authorities who are allowing the crimes to occur.

When I first saw the mural of George Floyd with large angel wings, I assumed that it was a satire on his sanctification – effective, perhaps, but not in the best of taste. Shortly afterwards, however, I realised that the mural was in earnest: the picture of the mural in the newspaper included a man genuflecting before it and the caption said that he was making a ‘pilgrimage’. Apparently, St Peter can no longer cope alone at the Pearly Gates: he need bouncers too, Heaven having become something like a nightclub.

NBC reports many of the facts of the case, but leaves readers to guess which party the alleged bribe-taker belongs to.
Jose Huizar, 61, was arrested at his home on a federal racketeering charge amid an ongoing FBI corruption probe, according to federal prosecutors in California.
Huizar is accused of turning his city council seat into what U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna described as a “money-making criminal enterprise that shaped the development landscape in Los Angeles.”
Notice NBC hasn’t named his party yet. Makes one wonder if their Verification Unit was too busy to deploy Google search.

The movement to tear down statues or even just to deface them was misconceived in its earliest stages and has now, like most aspects of the self-flagellating fever over “systemic racism,” evolved from just concerns about offending African-American sensibilities into an assault on the entire body of achievement of Western civilization. This movement really began with the debate over whether to remove the statue of General Robert E. Lee from a main square of Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. Serious civic discussion on a legitimate question quickly deteriorated into mob violence between Klansmen and neo-Nazis on one side and Antifa and the belligerent faction

Violent left-wing activists have taken to styling themselves as antifa, short for ‘anti-fascists’, though their street-fighting tactics resemble nothing so much as the Brownshirt thuggery practiced by fascists themselves. This did not stop NPR national political correspondent Mara Liasson from likening these hooligans to the heroes of World War Two. On the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, while America’s cities still smoldered after days of riots and looting, Liasson took to Twitter to call the Normandy invasion the ‘biggest antifa rally in history’.

Now the mob is planning to tear down the statue of Theodore Roosevelt, and, may I add, that TR was one of the original Progressives. Take a look in an American history book, if you can find one. Teddy was an original Progressive. The mayor of the fated city of New York, Bill de Blasio has already approved Teddy’s removal. Au revoir, Teddy; you will soon rest in the dustbin of history along with George Washington and so many other old white men of American history. Possibly, in time Mayor de Blasio himself will repose there. After all, he is an aging white male, and he has not achieved

There are few men in public life I have admired more than John Bolton. To take just one example, I am grateful for his successful work in the administration of the first President Bush to overturn the UN’s vile “Zionism is a form of racism” resolution. See pages 40-43 of his memoir, Surrender Is Not an Option.
Bolton suffered the Democrats’ remorseless campaign of defamation against him to prevent his confirmation as our ambassador to the United Nations upon his appointment by the second President Bush. I wrote about the role of the New York Times in this campaign at the time in “Déjà vu, all over again.”

As reliably as children being fooled by Santa Claus, the news media has once again been duped by an obviously false story that fit their favorite narrative about race. Last year, it was the Jussie Smollett fiasco, on which I was one of the first media commentators to call out as lacking credibility, today, in a very different but similar story, we have learned that, contrary to an enormous amount of media outrage and moralizing, black NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace was not the victim of a noose-related hate crime.

Three months ago, Bernie Sanders lost his chance at the Democratic nomination, after a brief moment in which his socialist revolution seemed poised to raze the bastions of neoliberal power. But the developments of the last month, the George Floyd protests and their cultural repercussions, may prove the more significant defeat for the Sanders cause. In the winter he merely lost a presidential nomination; in the summer he may be losing the battle for the future of the left.
Throughout his career, Sanders has stood for the proposition that left-wing politics lost its way after the 1970s by letting what should be its central purpose —

However, the primary in New York’s 16th Congressional District was too early to call. As of 1 a.m. ET Wednesday, Bowman had roughly 61 percent of the counted vote. Engel was in second with about 36 percent of the counted vote.

Joe Biden voted to allow racially segregated private schools to keep their tax exempt status in the late '70s, a stance that put him at odds with the Carter administration and drew criticism from civil rights groups at the time. Biden was among 54 senators who voted in 1979 to keep the "Dornan rider"—a provision that barred the IRS from revoking the tax-exempt status of segregated private schools, sometimes called "white flight academies," that had appeared in the wake of the Supreme Court's 1954 ruling integrating public schools. Biden's vote is one of multiple instances in which the then-senator actively opposed federal school desegregation efforts
