When I see the images from Lafayette Square last night or from the weekend across the country of radical leftists and anarchists tearing down or defacing memorials to some of America’s greatest heroes, what I keep wondering is: where are the conservative leaders who have said so much and done so little to defend our history?
For decades, the conservative movement has profited off the invocation of the American Founding. Multiple political analysts have said over the years that the biggest mistake Democrats made was letting Republicans have The Bible and the Flag, and the right has certainly profited from it.

The Republicans are hiding in the same place as the DC police, the National Park Service police, the FBI and other law enforcement groups, in a doughnut shop many blocks away any threatened monument. If there is anything to be learned from all of the videos on the attacks on historic statues and memorials, it’s that law enforcement doesn’t want to stop the vandalism out of self preservation. Why risk a murder charge or termination trying to protect a piece of bronze. Like all law abiding citizens, the police are fully aware that they are on their own.

FTA: " But in practice, they spent more time advocating for lower taxes, feel-good donor interests, and pro-business regulatory reforms than the cultural defense they used to make the money roll in."
Really? Show me. Where were they in 2008? I'm with the donor interest part of that but the rest came out of the south end of a northbound bull.
Why didn't they get behind the people when we elected Trump to lower taxes and cut the regulatory stranglehold on business, not just those who donate? And you are bewildered by their absence on the cultural front?

Senator Tom Cotton is the only Republican I can remember seeing standing up against all this nonsense. I would wish PDJT would put him in the VP slot for the next election. VP Pence is like a Casper Milquetoast. Flame on.

At minimun, Republicans should call on democrats to denounce the mobs and insist they stop. Americans will take notice when democrats refuse or stay silent. Do it!

Conservatism never delivered anything but tax cuts and perpetual warfare.

We dont need conservative "leaders" we need action from ordinary people, The Boston Tea Party was not conducted by conservative leaders, it was ordinary citizens that were fed up.

Yeah, as if the primary media in this country will even effectively cover any conservative response! And, if they even do cover it, they will falsify everything anyway. Different rules apply here Domenech. So, when the silent majority finally does go to guns to settle this mess, what will the media tout then? Any guesses? We may have just gone beyond the point of no return as the polite society accommodates the violent protester over and over again. "Let 'em vent." Well, venting goes both ways.

In my own native state of Massachusetts, the battle for American freedom was begun by the thousands of farmers and tradesmen who made up the Minute Men -- citizens who were ready to defend their liberty at a moment's notice.***** Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. The cause of liberty, the cause of America, cannot succeed with any lesser effort. *****

The majority of the GOP "leadership" and elected officials don't denounce these subversives because they mostly agree with them. For these "conservatives" to come out and say openly what they believe would alienate and enrage much of their base so they say and do nothing. In a year or two we will be reading articles in "conservative" publications explaining to us just how the rioting and looting and destruction of monuments along with defunding the police is, at heart, an expression of "conservative" principles.

Conservative leaders are where they are always...standing behind the Constitution and rule of law. They hold no sway with the radicals. They hold little sway with anyone, including fellow conservatives. Who you gonna call, George Will? Mitch McConnell?
One problem with "conservatives" is their willingness to get in the middle of stuff, particularly using Federal assets. Many wanted to drop the 101st into Seattle, for example. Others demand Trump open the economy held closed by state governors, call out the national guard, over which he has no authority.
#8 has it exactly pegged..."We don't need conservative 'leaders' we need action from ordinary people." Yeah, well, we're all too busy with our lives and jobs...so at least call or write your governor, mayor, legislators, council members and newspapers expressing your dismay. Call the liberal talk show hosts...no, really.

Well #5, we have seen who really ARE conservative leaders and which ones merely pose, drop the occasional scripture and grandstand in the right Senate committee hearings near reelection time. Anything controversial where the MSM might pick on them and they go hide in their offices. Senator Tom Cotton been the only one with some guts. I thank Tucker Carlson for calling out my party of jellyfishes in his monologue every night.
