Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has long insisted that the company is politically neutral, but the same apparently can’t be said for all of its content moderators. The social-media giant said it would review its training and oversight after a Project Veritas sting released Tuesday showed moderators on hidden-camera footage claiming that they delete pro-Trump and conservative posts; that the company harbors an anti-Trump bias, and that Facebook shadow-bans content, despite its claims to the contrary.

The Feds do not have to intercede here as that would probably create a losing position when the First Amendment is brought up in the lawsuit brought on by FacePlant, Tweety, et al. What the Feds can do is remove the legal distinction of being a 'platform' or a 'publisher.' Remove the 'platform' protections and these 'platforms' can now be sued for libel, First Amendment violations (censored articles), and anything alse down to toe fungus. Phuckerbird, the Tweets, and all the others will either actively cut loose any employee who is politically active while doing their job or watch their billions in profits slowly get transferred to lawyers when the lawsuits start pouring in. Personally I don't use any 'social media'. If I want to talk to someone, I pick up the phone. Apart from allowing the grandkids talk to GrandMa, 'social media' is anything but sociable.

I've made it to 77 without Fakebook or the rest of the social media. I can call on the phone, or in the case of a good friend rendered mute by cancer, text on the cell phone. My better half has fakebook, and it's narcissists looking for compliments all the time. Who needs 'look at me' 24/7? I will admit to reading 'The Donalds' tweets every morning, but I have never made a comment on it. I don't think I know how. I don't know about Tweety, but the boss ladys fakebook looks like a lot of ads. I suffer through the popups and click bait ads here, and that's more than enough.

America’s Problem Is Systemic Liberalism 3 replies
Posted by Pluperfect 6/29/2020 5:12:33 AM Post Reply
Forget the bizarre and evil concept of national original sin that is the malignant idea that America is built upon “systemic racism." America’s true systemic flaw, arising at the time of those miserable progressives of yesteryear and continuing up through the miserable progressives of this rotten year, is what we now call “liberalism.” Oh, it’s not classical liberalism, with its concern for expanding economic and personal rights – you know, individual liberty. The current inverted mutation of liberalism is all about constricting economic and personal rights and forcing individuals into collective boxes where their individuality is subsumed into an easily exploited and manipulated conformist whole.

Sidney Powell, attorney for retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, said her client, in his duties as the White House national security adviser, was prepared to “audit” the U.S. intelligence community. That, according to the former federal prosecutor, is partly why federal agents “set up” Flynn. Powell, who took over Flynn’s defense last summer, told the “Vickie McKenna Show” on 1310 WIBA Madison that her client was “totally set up” because he threatened to expose wrongdoing by top intelligence officials in the Obama administration.

The recent wave of violence sweeping the nation is reminiscent of the 1970s and ’80s when the Weather Underground, Black Liberation Army, and Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN) engaged in violence, killing about two-dozen and injuring hundreds. Americans were reminded of the carnage two decades later when Bill Clinton dished out pardons and commutations at the end of his presidency. The 42nd president’s 1999 commutation of the sentences of a dozen Puerto Rican FALN terrorists was a total surprise. Bill Clinton reviewed 3,229 clemency petitions requesting commutations since taking office until August 1999. He only approved three. Clinton turned down 99.9% of the commutation requests until the day

This month’s protests started out as a black movement against police brutality, but they have a different look now. In many cases, whites have taken over. They apologize for their “white privilege” and, in at least one case, wash black people’s feet to expiate their collective sins. Celebrities, athletes and corporate America followed suit. Portland’s police chief resigned, asking to be replaced by a black man, and the CEO of Chick-Fil-A urged whites to shine the shoes of black people to show a “sense of shame.” But why now?

Radicalism in America's largest cities seems impervious to reason. Consider this headline in the Minneapolis Star Tribune: "Despite a wave of violence, Minneapolis 'defund police' effort continues: An influential bloc of City Council members is pressing ahead with plans to dismantle the department as a monthlong eruption of gunfire sent tremors through neighborhoods." Reporter Liz Navratil explained that a majority of the Minneapolis City Council and like-minded community activists have used terms such as "defund," "dismantle" and "abolish" in different ways.

Seattle residents said Sunday that despite rumors that the city was going to reclaim the “occupied” area known as CHOP, little has changed on the ground and the “security” at the protest zone has actually gotten more “contentious” with residents who live nearby. “They won’t let people in the neighborhood sometimes at night,” Matthew Ploszaj, who lives there, told KOMO News. He told the station that he supports the Black Lives Matter movement, but said it is a “terrible precedent” that “any political message can come in and occupy a neighborhood.”

When he was running the U.S. Senate in 2012, Harry Reid asserted, without presenting evidence, that an anonymous source had told him that Republican nominee Mitt Romney was a tax cheat. “So, the word is out that he has not paid any taxes for 10 years,” the majority leader declared from the Senate floor. “Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t.” It was a classless move from a classless politician. As it turned out, his comment didn’t bear any relation to reality. In reality, it turned out that Romney paid millions of dollars in taxes each year and gave a significant amount to charity.

The coronavirus hasn’t gone away. As the Northeast, the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S. for months, has seen steep, persistent declines in confirmed cases, other parts of the country have spiked. A month or so ago, most of the increased cases were a function of increased testing. Now, states like Florida, Texas, and Arizona have seen worrying increases in their positivity rates — the percentage of tests that are positive — in a sign of accelerating community spread. The media’s tone about this trend is, of course, apocalyptic, with many commentators portraying the Republican governors of these states as callous extremists hell-bent on reopening, come what may.

Florida Democrats are rising in opposition to the news Joe Biden is vetting a running mate who once lamented the death of “Comandante en jefe” Fidel Castro. An early ally of Biden’s presidential campaign, California Rep. Karen Bass’ name surfaced this week as a possible vice-presidential pick who could help balance his ticket because of her deep progressive roots and her activism against police brutality, an emerging issue in the presidential race. But Bass‘ comments about the longtime Cuban leader following his death in 2016 — when she respectfully called him “comandante en jefe” (in Spanish, commander in chief) — is politically poisonous in Florida

However, there is news they don’t share with you that could help reduce the already unwarranted levels of fear. Obviously, that doesn’t fit their partisan agenda. Many commentators have noted that rising case numbers are not necessarily a reason to sound the alarm. The fear with COVID-19 was always of overwhelming the hospital system. The correct numbers to look at are COVID-19 hospitalizations, the percent of positive tests, and the age breakdown for severe disease.
