Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam drew criticism Saturday after he was captured on social media photos without a mask while mingling with constituents on a beach. Former US Rep Allen West of Florida was injured in a motorcycle crash in Texas on Saturday. Though neither of us is an artist or musician, my wife and I have been close to the music and arts community in central Massachusetts for more than 40 years, as volunteers, through recording locally-performed classical music concerts and broadcasting them on the local community radio station. Amazon fired back at presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden late on Friday after Biden accused Amazon of not paying “its fair share.”

From the beginning of the Michael Flynn case, Judge Sullivan has been hostile to Flynn. By December 2018, based upon a misreading of the facts, Sullivan accused Flynn of conduct amounting to treason and said that he felt “disdain” and “disgust” for what he believed Flynn had done.
Sullivan’s behavior, however, went from hostile to bizarre when the Department of Justice, having uncovered massive wrongdoing the FBI’s and DOJ’s handling of the Flynn matter, moved to dismiss the case. On Saturday, though, Judge Sullivan managed to escalate from bizarre to . . . well, maybe paranoid is the correct word.

O’Rourke outperformed expectations when he lost by only 2 points to incumbent Ted Cruz in Texas. Abrams was actually favored to win but lost an open-seat race for governor in Georgia to Brian Kemp by just 55,000 votes. She nearly got enough support to force a runoff, but not quite.

Look, there is a difference between “murder” and “killing.” Murder is purposeful and indefensible, regardless of degree. By contrast, humans value professionals who kill ants, spiders, roaches, and termites. Killing is more nuanced. Soldiers kill the enemy, and that is the whole idea. A group of military veterans out of Mount Airy, N.C., made a video to bestow a funeral honor guard upon departed service members who are unable to receive one due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The effort was led by Rob Luffman, whose late father Bobby Luffman served in the Air Force. He said he saw a friend share a Facebook post asking for someone to play taps at her dad's funeral several weeks ago. The woman's father had served three tours in Vietnam.
"That was the first time it occurred to me that veterans were not getting honors ceremonies at graveside services," he told Fox News.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio told a New York radio audience businesses in the city are “hanging on” and they’ll be able to stay closed for several months.

In Oregon’s federal and state primary elections this past Tuesday, a number of voters received the wrong ballot. Many center-right observers say that the number of errors has spiked in 2020, and have sought answers to the problem.
Oregon has a closed primary election, meaning that voters who don’t register to vote with a party cannot vote in that party’s primary for state or federal candidates. Anecdotal reports have flooded in that indicate non-affiliated voters have received ballots to vote in the Democratic primary, incorrectly allowing them to vote in the presidential primary.
On Thursday, Donald Trump announced that the U.S. was withdrawing from the Treaty on Open Skies, an accord signed by 34 countries that allows unarmed surveillance planes to fly over each other’s country.

Sullivan already asked for assistance from outside counsel when he appointed John Gleeson to argue against the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the Flynn prosecution.
