Scott Kane went 38 years without ever touching a gun. That streak would have continued had it not been for the coronavirus. In March, fearful of the harassment his wife and child experienced over their Asian ancestry, Kane found himself in a California gun shop. His March 11 purchase of a 9mm would have been the end of the story, were it not for a political standoff over shutdown orders and background checks. Now Kane, a former supporter of gun-control measures and AR-15 bans, is frustrated by the arduous process that has denied his family a sense of security.

I'm old enough to remember the Rodney King riots reaching LA's koreatown, causing half a billion dollars damage, and stopped by good guys with guns. Many holding them for the first time in their lives!

Mr. Kane now knows the joy of living in a blue state. When I purchased my last gun, I went to lunch while the store ran my background check. 30 minutes into lunch the shop owner called and told me to come pick up my gun.
"I figured now's the time to buy before, God help us, a Democrat becomes president again," he said. "Then I would probably never get that chance again“.
I bought my first fun in 2000 fearing that Gore might win the election. Some things never change.

Gun, not fun above. Though guns certainly can be fun.

Those planning to buy a gun before the Democrats take control are living in a fool's paradise. If we have a Democrat Congress and White House in November, that will be the last you will see of your liberties!

I bought my first handgun in 1968 no background check just walked in paid and walked out. I don't understand a person protesting someone else's right to purchase without knowing what they are talking about like this person Kane. Acknowledging that he was anti-gun until he decided to exercise his right to own a firearm. When you protest something learn about what you are protesting or shut up or you will just sound stupid. It's like the evening news host calling a handgun an 'automatic revolver' there's no such thing so that's not news reporting that's stupidity.

I carried my first .22 rifle at age 10 and have been armed ever since. I now have a cache that could successfully defend the Alamo so nothing the lefties do or threaten affects me much.
Waiting for something to attack before you start thinking about buying a firearm is not a winning strategy. 9/11/01 and the full eight years of the Kenyan dictator should have awakened everybody.

I am a little behind #7. First gun .22 Marlin lever-action rifle at age 12. I now have pistols, rifles, and shotguns. I have a carry license in Georgia. Here, you walk in the gun store, present the license, fill out and sign a one-page form and walk out with your firearm. Easy and the way it should be. The license means you have been fingerprinted and cleared by law enforcement and the FBI.

This proves the old adage, the difference between a liberal and conservative is one mugging.

A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged....in this case by the reality of possibly needing to defend your life in an emergency. Welcome to all the new gun owners. And I have taught a number of those NRA Basic Handgun courses over the years.
As to #1's comment, I was in Long Beach, not far from the riots on a business trip for several days while the riots happened. I routinely travel with a handgun, and was armed at that time, although you cannot carry it in California legally, so it was in my hotel room most of the time. But I did have options, and was extremely pleased to get a flight out of there while the fires were still raging. Seeing that miles wide opaque brown-black plume of smoke with over 60 (counted!) raging individual fires around the edge from the air was horrific, and something that I will never forget.

He thinks the gun laws are “insane” - but I’ll bet he voted for every Democrat he saw, and thought those laws were a good idea. Sounds like he got mugged by reality.

It looks to me like the left will have to face numerous unintended consequences due to their tyrannical efforts to control the population.
I believe that actually having the experience of living through tyranny will change minds and open people's eyes in a way that watching a news program or reading an opinion piece will not.
After all, these people base their viewpoints solely on emotions which the MSM cranks up in them.
When California surfer dudes organize to protest being locked up, the left has gotta realize they have a bit of a problem. Hopefully they will not have this epiphany until it's way too late.

I guess we should be happy that he finally got a clue, but honestly someone this stupid shouldn't be armed. The only pass he gets is he is slowing overcoming the media brainwashing and his lazy liberal thinking. IF that is the case and he is really waking up, good for him for refusing to continue the zombie think of every rat. He will know if he starts to question all those 'news' sources that kept him ignorant and unarmed for his previous adult life.
