On March 22, President Trump took to Twitter and typed out a message in all-caps: We Cannot Let The Cure Be Worse Than The Problem Itself. At The End Of The 15 Day Period, We Will Make A Decision As To Which Way We Wamt To Go“ That was more than a month ago. And while all 50 states have begun to take some steps toward reopening shuttered businesses and closed restaurants, the pace is achingly slow. Now, 500 doctors have banded together to tell Trump to mandate an end the coronavirus shutdown, saying it is a “mass casualty incident” that will cause more death and destruction

I don't blame Trump for listening to the "experts," the predictions were terrifying. All the President called for initially, was those who were sick to stay home, those who were able to work from home to do that, and be careful about everyday hygiene. It was the Governors, led by Newsom and Pritzker, who took this to a whole new level.
I don't think that the President needs convincing. He was mocked when he said it would be nice to reopen for Easter. He was mocked by the MSM when he mentioned the possibility of an increase in suicide and depression. Please bombard the governors and big city mayors. I have only seen these warnings on FOX. It should be all over the place. Common sense has had no place in this whole ordeal.

Let's listen to these experts! I like what they're saying.

Had an interesting conversation with my neighbor this morning (10’ apart!) He decried the utter selfishness of conservatives ranting about “their freedoms” and wanting to open up their businesses. He says all they think about is themselves instead of being compassionate and saving lives. I didn’t say it because I don’t want to argue with a man whose mind I will not change, but I thought of the woman, a friend of a friend, who was losing not just her business and livelihood but her house as well (her house had financed her non-essential business.) In 5 weeks she went from being a successful businesswoman to being destitute, all out of her control. Can you imagine the despair and anguish? Multiply that experience times all of the other non-essential small businesses desperately trying to survive and add in those who battle depression and on and on - yet “we” (the advocates of opening up the economy) are the ones who are selfish!
Ironically he later mentioned what a tough time he was having emotionally with SIP. There are none so blind as they who will not see.

We are avoiding friends--decades-long friendships with people who are otherwise normal-- based on rabid TDS and media hyped fear. It saddens me because that's exactly what they--the RAT/Enemedia Axis- want.

I wonder how angry more people will be when they find out this was all a scam. Will the lying media try to pretend that they didn't push closing and staying closed and blame Trump when it all blows up?

Apologies for a second post but, #3, unfortunately I don't have to imagine what your friend, of a friend is going through right now. Believe me, all that you imagine that she is feeling and experiencing is very real. The only advice I can offer those of you who know people who are being destroyed during this time is to be available to listen. Sometimes over and over again as they repeat themselves. It take a very long time to process a sudden drastic change in circumstances. It is probably second only to the sudden death of a loved one. Losing everything you have worked for, regardless that it is because of circumstances beyond your control, still leaves you with feelings of shame and guilt. Families lived in the homes that are lost, employees depended on the income, investors may be friends and family members who will also lose. Thoughts of suicide are not uncommon.
I am sick to my stomach as I pass empty parking lots and shuttered businesses. During our very bad time I once remarked to my husband as we made a "visit" to our parents the "You know it's bad when you find yourself envying the residents of 'Queen of Heaven'."

If Trump had the authority to open the entire country, I'm sure he would, but he told the governors to do as they wish, with no restrictions on those orders.

Trump already knew this, but this helps support his pre-existing position on the matter.

What are those doctors talking about. The President gave state governors the authority for lifting or keeping the status quo of a shutdown. These doctors should take it up with their demonrat governors who prefer to keep their jackboots on their state residents.

What really maddens me about the whole thing is the hypocrisy and incongruity. Look at the governors' responses. They are all Lone Rangers, making it up as they go along, without any scientific justification. That ought to say something to thinking people. Also we are presented with a disease that has such a wide range of effects, that it causes me to reject the whole media picture.

Preaching to the choir. Hopefully they passed along copies to the State Houses in Blue States, and to Pelosi and Schumer. Not that they'd pay attention.
