The big domestic policy question for 2020 is this: how to keep the Trump economy growing. Now the establishment state media's campaign to talk America into a recession seems to be working -- at least among the elite. Last week, we saw the biggest drop in economic confidence among CEOs in seven years. Oh, there's only one problem -- nobody told the American people. Look at this headline in Axios: "CEO pessimism rises but consumers keep spending." In fact, all the indications are that this will be a blockbuster holiday season. See what that headline says: ”Holiday sales poised to jump on US job market boom.”

If there's one thing Democrats have always wanted to get their hands on, it's workers' private retirement accounts -- the 401(k)s, the Roth IRAs, the Social Security checks. The idea of course, is that that big pot of stored savings can be spent now for leftist social programs instead of raising taxes and let what happens, happen, to people who've saved for retirement. We saw it in 2010, in the Democrats' effort to 'Argentinize' U.S. 401(k)s and replace them with a 'guaranteed retirement accounts,' using the private savings to bail out failing public pensions. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is desperately trying to apologize for the multiple times he appeared in blackface. He has asked for forgiveness, blaming his behavior on the fact that he comes from “a place of privilege.” But now, he adds, “I have to acknowledge that that comes with a massive blind spot.” Karen Wang, of Vancouver, British Columbia, doesn’t come from a place of privilege. She emigrated from mainland China in 1999 at age 23 and has built a respected day-care business. Last January, while running for Parliament as a candidate representing Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party in a special election, she was suddenly accused of racism.

Amidst the daily foibles, inanities, Twitter meltdowns and rhetorical outrages of the Donald Trump presidency, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend just how systematically and conclusively his predecessor’s worldview has been discredited. When Barack Obama swore the oath of office just over a decade ago, he entered the White House with a deep conviction that many of the world’s problems were chiefly the consequence of American hubris. What followed was an agenda that prioritised the lowering of tensions with traditional American antagonists over the concerns of traditional American allies. While speaking at this early stage of anything so coherent as a “Trump Doctrine” would be unwise,

In a Slate article -- "Democratic Candidates Are Misrepresenting Michael Brown's Death"-- the reliably-liberal William Saletan wrote: Last week, in a Democratic presidential debate, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro read a list of black Americans killed by police violence. (Snip)But let's leave that aside and examine why the candidates are promulgating such a well-proven lie (Saletan does a good job demonstrating its extent), not even correcting it when confronted by the press, in Warren's case most egregiously so. The obvious is that they are fishing for votes. Warren has a putative weakness with African American voters.

So, as it turns out, Elizabeth Warren’s Social Security expansion proposal is not the only one of her plans to affect Americans’ retirement well-being. But the proposal of hers which will affect Americans’ retirement savings, in their 401(k)s and their IRAs and the funded status of their pension plans (which might be irrelevant for single-employer traditional pension plans guaranteed by employers but matters considerably for multi-employer plans), is tucked away in a component of her platform with the harmless-looking title, “Empowering Workers Through Accountable Capitalism.” It’s a proposal that’s a repeat of legislation she proposed in 2018, the “Accountable Capitalism Act,” which, as it happens,

British tour company Thomas Cook collapsed early Monday after failing to secure emergency funding, leaving tens of thousands of vacationers stranded abroad. The British government said the return of the 178-year-old firm's 150,000 British customers now in vacation spots across the globe would be the largest repatriation in its peacetime history. The process began Monday and officials warned that delays are inevitable. The Civil Aviation Authority said Thomas Cook has ceased trading, its four airlines will be grounded, and its 21,000 employees in 16 countries, including 9,000 in the U.K., will lose their jobs. The company several months ago had blamed a slowdown in bookings because of Brexit uncertainty

China already lost in the trade war with the U.S. Although you will never hear Chinese authorities, especially President Xi Jinping, admit it as such, the evidence is everywhere and only becoming more compelling by the day. Reuters recently reported that based on the Chinese government's own data, China's economic slowdown has worsened in August, with "growth in industrial production is at its weakest in 17-1/2 years amid spreading pain from a trade war with the United States and softening domestic demand. Retail sales and investment gauges worsened too." Despite such poor readings, Premier Li Keqiang insists that China is still on track

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an enthusiastic endorsement of Donald Trump on Sunday, and lauded their 'chemistry,' as he seeks more support from Indian-American voters. During one of Trump's largest rallies to date, which was dubbed 'Howdy, Modi!' and included about 50,000 attendees, the Indian leader made his support of the incumbent president very clear, giving kudos on a strong economy, good foreign relation initiatives and the president's celebration of Diwali in the White House. Modi said Trump has always been friendly, warm and accessible – words with which not many other world leaders have used to describe this president.

Most journalists and Democrats didn’t express any concerns when: VP Biden threatened (promised) Ukraine that he would cut off a billion dollars in aid to them if they didn't fire the prosecutor investigating a company his son was involved with. Hunter Biden got paid $50,000 a month as a board member of a corrupt Ukrainian gas company when he had no expertise on the product of the company. Obama promised the very dangerous Russia and Putin that he would be flexible if he was reelected (somehow no one at FBI or elsewhere was ever concerned that Russia may have tried to influence the 2012 election to elect

During a visit to the region on Sunday night, President Donald Trump said he is working with lawmakers on “trying to come up with a solution” to gun violence in the wake of last month’s mass shooting in Dayton’s Oregon District. In an exclusive interview with the president, News Center 7’s Molly Koweek asked President Trump what a solution might look like. “We have to protect our second amendment,” Trump said. “We can’t let guns be taken away from good people, but we want to have them taken away from crazy people.”
