Democrats' Campus Voting Plea Gets a Judicial Smackdown

Democrats push hard for every possible advantage in elections, but courts sometimes draw a line. U.S. District Judge William L. Osteen Jr. delivered a ruling that defined those lines by rejecting a Democratic demand for early voting sites on three North Carolina university campuses. His ruling carried an unmistakable tone of impatience toward a case that tried to dress political convenience as constitutional necessity. The College Democrats of North Carolina argued that without on-campus sites, students would need to travel off campus to vote, imposing time and transportation burdens on young voters. That's the premise Judge Osteen rejected, making clear that elections aren't built to require perfect comfort;

FTA: ''Students navigate class schedules, employment, and beer runs every week. The claim that voting off campus transforms capable adults into hapless victims strains credibility.'' Isn't that the truth? Next the 'Rats will claim that the cold weather may give the delicate little snowflakes the sniffles. Besides, it probably cuts down on voter fraud, a 'Rat fave.

A very well deserved smackdown. Students that cannot figure out how to get to a voting place are too dumb to graduate. The same could be said about the idea that Blacks can't manage to get legal ID to vote. The reality is, it is essential to get legal ID and be able to travel or access by mail all sorts of things and function in society. How could you rent an apartment let alone purchase a house? How could you get medical care? How could you set up a checking account or pay your bills? How could you set up access to utilities? How could students get to classes on large campuses if they didn't walk or take, usually free, transportation, in some places when the weather is not good? A common sense judge blows by the stupidity.

This kind of foolishness is why we need some good national voting standards. Mail in voting, as apposed absentee voting, needs to be abolished. Mail in voting sends ballots to addresses with no way of knowing if the person is a citizen, is living there or even living. They would be best described as “junk mail” ballots sent to “occupant.” Ballot harvesting is just asking for ballot box stuffing with fraudulent ballots. Just to name a couple.

Republicans are heading into the midterms with a huge advantage — a strong economy that is finally working for American families. Under President Trump and a GOP Congress, growth is up, inflation is down, wages are rising, and businesses are investing again. After years of economic pain, Americans are starting to feel real relief. Yet, too many Republicans are failing to make the case. As Larry Kudlow recently said on X: “The GOP needs to tout the red-hot economy at every campaign stop. There’s a business boom, a productivity boom, and Trump Accounts and wages are outstripping inflation.

The two deaths during ICE operations in January have led to an inundation of left-wing outrage to begin the new year. Thankfully, however, the amount of screen time allotted to America’s vocal minority is not indicative of how successfully — or unsuccessfully — any given issue is being handled. When it comes to illegal immigration, President Trump has, perhaps unsurprisingly, quelled the issue while exhibiting mastery in responding to pushback, just over one year into his second term.

President Trump has always understood a truth that much of Washington either ignores or refuses to confront. Nations do not endure on rhetoric alone. They endure because they raise strong families, cultivate capable citizens, and think beyond the next election cycle. The twin initiatives announced recently, Trump Accounts and TrumpRx, should be understood through that lens. Together, they represent a domestic strategy aimed not merely at governing the present moment, but at securing the future of the country itself.

Respect is nothing more than an abstraction until somebody refuses to show it; that's when symbols clarify moments. Flags matter because they represent authority, sacrifice, and ownership. The World Health Organization (WHO) crossed that line when it decided to keep the United States' flag after President Donald Trump withdrew from the organization. That decision led to a rare action on the world's political stage: Somebody acted. President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the WHO because of decades of mismanagement, compliance with hostile governments, and repeated failures during global health scares. There are consequences resulting from the withdrawal: legal, diplomatic, and symbolic.

The ongoing struggle to protect the right of public employees to disassociate themselves from unions whose values they don’t share has a number of heroes. There’s Pamela Harris, for example, plaintiff in Harris v. Quinn, which affirmed the right of homecare providers to opt out of union membership and dues in 2014. Or Rebecca Friedrichs, whose lawsuit against the California Teachers Association would have extended the same right to all public employees had it not been interrupted by the death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. And Mark Janus, who finally championed those rights in Janus v. AFSCME.

The problem was the show’s conceit: It was a message of unity, inclusion, and togetherness — in a language that 85% of the population doesn’t understand and cannot speak. That’s not unity. That’s division. Lo siento, Bad Bunny and/or the NFL, but the underlying metrics of the NFL’s Super Bowl halftime show didn’t make a lick of sense: Only about 14% to 18% of the U.S. population speaks fluent Spanish — which means, of course, that 86% to 82% do not. Only 14% of the NFL’s total audience is Hispanic. The number of Latinos/Hispanics who speak English exclusively is growing, not shrinking:

In almost all midterm congressional elections, the President’s party loses seats in the House of Representatives. The only exceptions occurred in 1902, 1934, 1998, and 2002. This obviously means the razor thin Republican House majority — and thus the GOP’s governing trifecta — will be in considerable peril next November. This being the case, common sense dictates that certain crucial bills should be prioritized by Congress and sent to President Trump’s desk for signature post haste. Considering the insecure and chaotic manner in which federal elections are conducted in blue states, the SAVE Act clearly falls into the must pass category.
