PR Fallout of the All-Spanish Super Bowl

The problem was the show’s conceit: It was a message of unity, inclusion, and togetherness — in a language that 85% of the population doesn’t understand and cannot speak. That’s not unity. That’s division. Lo siento, Bad Bunny and/or the NFL, but the underlying metrics of the NFL’s Super Bowl halftime show didn’t make a lick of sense: Only about 14% to 18% of the U.S. population speaks fluent Spanish — which means, of course, that 86% to 82% do not. Only 14% of the NFL’s total audience is Hispanic. The number of Latinos/Hispanics who speak English exclusively is growing, not shrinking:

We didn't watch that crap. Personally, I didn't care in the slightest which team won, and was reading a book in the room when my wife watched the game. I saw a few plays, got the general gist of the game, but -- I'm not a big NFL fan. As to some no talent, obnoxious Puerto Rican punk who is a some time cross dresser --- what an incredibly stupid thing to do by the NFL morons-in-charge. I'm sure that 90% or more did not watch that crap.

Objecting to a musical performance by a Puerto Rican artist that is in Spanish is about as stupid as it gets. It's like objecting to a Puccini opera because it's in Italian. The only criterion that matters is whether the show was entertaining, well executed, and worthy of a spectacle like the Super Bowl. I had never seen or heard of Mr. Bunny before this event, but the show he and his production team put on was beautiful, exciting, a bit retro, and exceptionally well executed. Any objective evaluation of the spectacle, devoid of political bias or cultural orthodoxy, would agree. There are genuine issues with illegal immigration and cultural subversion by Latin American and Chinese governments, as documented in Peter Schweizer's book, "The Invisible Coup." The performance by Señor Bunny should not be taken that seriously.

At least it wasn't a Tranny-fest. Kinda insulted by the all Spanish format. So much so that I turned the TV off and didn't watch the second half. Apparently the NFL believes inclusiveness means excluding the majority of potential US viewers.

The game was boring, and I watched a little of the halftime show to see what the controversy was. I had heard the artist's name before, but that's about it. It's not my style of music anyway, and the Spanish just seemed to be some sort of political jab to the Anglo viewers. Something like, "We are coming whether you like it or not". The game itself seemed a little dull so we skipped the 2nd half.

Football is a business, and the NFL brand has saturated its market for growth among its traditional audience. To keep growing, it can perhaps expand into younger ages.A far larger potential growth sourceforeign markets. So large, NFL doesn’t seem to be afraid of alienating some of its core audience, sacrificing it for the overseas potential growth they see. Maybe they’re right, frustrating as it seems.. Business is business. It’s their risk, not mine. I enjoy the football, but I spent virtually zero money enjoying it. Far-flung exhibition games are part of that strategy.

I dont care about sports games. Its a bunch of gorillas fighting over a ball and getting paid millions to do it. So I didnt see the half time foolishness either. Come to think of it, I've never seen any half time show or any super bowl. I guess that means they can prance around on stage like a San Francisco parade and sing in foreign languages and push whatever their political leanings are and I'd never know.

The production was very good visually but since rap is degraded doggerel Bad Bunny’s “songs” were awful. When he switched over to Lady Gaga singing at the staged wedding it was a relief. She sang in English, had a great voice and the lyrics were somewhat understandable. The flags of the countries of the New World marching forward in the finale was fun to watch but even though the Stars and Stripes proceeded first, his message that all who live in this hemisphere are Americans was trite and stale. I watched the half time show with a bi-lingual Spanish speaker who didn’t understand a single word of Bad Bunny’s rap.

Nice that one poster enjoyed the show. He must be Hispanic. The argument about a Pucciini opera is absurd because those attending any opera would do so, knowing what to expect. They might not want it in a footall game halftime at Super Bowl prices.

Roger Goodell seems to be aiming for global appeal. Perhaps he should host the Super Bowl in another country next year, one that could really appreciate the half time show. I wonder if that would be a big revenue enhancer. I don't know anything about Bad Bunny, but I did hear a translation of some of the lyrics from his songs. If you don't speak Spanish, consider yourself lucky. The lyrics were truly x-rated. UGH.

Did the NFL forget they were running opposite of the Olympics? The Lady Chihuahua quickly switched channels. She called it boring. No argument from me. I don't know Spanish. I'm sure millions did likewise. The anti-American left wrecks everything it touches. That's deliberate. They want to destroy all American traditions. The Super Bowl has been around for 60 years. Too bad the NFL jumped on the hate-America bandwagon. Times change, but it's sad to see things play out like this.

I was hoping that the captive audience would boo this bastid, but apparently no one did. What a shame. As to going to see a Puccini opera in Italian, when I go to the opera, my expectation is that it will be sung in the language in which it was written. Italian opera, German opera, French.....you get the idea. BUT, when I go to the 60th Super Bowl, a celebration of a uniquely AMERICAN sport, in an AMERICAN stadium, in the 250th year anniversary of the greatest country ever to grace God's earth, I expect that the entertainment will be in AMERICAN, not ESPANOL or Puccini's ITALIAN. Roger Goodell is really and truly trying to wreck the great American sport of football. He is so bad, I believe he is a secret agent for some commie country. Pick whichever commie country you wish. But this guy is one big dirtbag.

I don't like opera because... it's opera. I love Mozart, Brahms, Prokofiev, Bach, Beethoven, Ginastera (HEY... he's from Argentina!), Debussy and Chopin. But I would never expect a Superbowl show to cater to anything other than pretty much the lowest common denominator. And it is NOT about the language the artist sings in. It is about the culture that the artist appeals to. IMO Bad Bunny is just a poor fit chosen by a tone deaf NFL. More on opera... Mark Twain was once asked what he thought about the music of Wagner. His reply... "It's much better than it sounds".

Anticipating the disaster at half time, we didn't even watch the game. But tuned into the TP USA All American Show at 8pm and it was wonderful. Inspiring, entertaining and the breath of fresh air this country needs right now. Chris Rock's new song was wonderful. We are Patriot's fans, but even that couldn't get us to watch this trash. NFL better figure out who pays the bills in this country. Advertisers could ask for their money back - they didn't get the audience they expected. The NFL did not do themselves any good with their “ICE Out” themed so-called political half time show starring a “Bad Bunny” singing in Spanish who is from Puerto Rico telling the USA how the country should be run. After all Puerto Rico is a small island where it is said that 111% of the population is on welfare.

The documents include a previously unreported 2019 FBI interview summary with former Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter. The French President said the debate over the cause of the enormous power outage, which plunged Spain into darkness in April leaving five dead and millions without power, was “a false one”. The disruption, which also impacted Portugal and southwestern France, left areas in total darkness for nearly a day, cutting internet and telephone connection, while hampering transport. School pupils and workers were sent home for the day but many others were stuck in lifts or stranded on trains in isolated rural areas. A horrible tragedy occurred yesterday in Canada when a killer, later identified as a “trans identifying woman,” shot nine people to death and injured 27 others, before turning the gun on himself. The Canadian establishment has been desperate to hide the truth about the shooter, but this was not a secret the establishment could sit on. The shooting took place at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in tiny Tumbler Ridge, a remote rural community in British Columbia. If it's wrong to spend a week celebrating the misery of your opponents, like that of the scores of just-fired Washington Post hacks who are crying like teenage girls learning there are no more "Twilight" movies coming, then I'm incredibly, totally, enthusiastically wrong. The former journos/current drive-thru operators still have not shut up about the WaPo's mass layoffs, and I am taking unmitigated delight in their pain. Their suffering energizes me. Their tears nourish me. Their humiliation fuels my joy. Hey, maybe democracy dies in darkness, but as long as the WaPo dies, I'm good. I would tell them to learn the code, but that's old and cliché.
