President Donald Trump's push to seize Greenland might be the least popular idea in American political history.
Is that hyperbole? If so, that's only because reliable and fast public polling is a relatively recent development within our 250-year experiment in self-governance.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found a staggering 4 percent of Americans favor the idea of seizing Greenland with military force. Among Republicans, the idea is actually twice as popular: 8 percent say taking the island is a "good idea."

"Seizibg"?
BS. Trump is considering buying it leasing it. Typical hysterical exaggeration.

Sorry for the typo. On phone, tiny keyboard and tiny screen.
"Seizing"? is what I meant.

Nobody wants to see military force anywhere at this time, but I'm not that broken up about what Trump is actually talking about doing with Greenland.

So in the spirit of "We Are The World" should we watch China/Russia move in?
And maybe give Alaska back?

Propaganda is also a fast-track item. Is this poll real? I question every poll that pushes an argument. How valid is this poll?
Considering what Russia and China are doing, I'd rather have Greenland in our hands, than theirs.

If we went that route, who is going to stop us? Europe?? Russia siezed Crimea and portions of Georgia. What happened?? Nothing.
Im perfectly fine with acquiring or leasing Greenland. Im not in favor of seizing it, only because it would make us no better than Russia. But.....it wouldn't be the first time that the US seized territory. We just usually give most of it back ....... eventually.

I don't get it. Isn't Greenland friendly to us and we have (had?) bases there. This makes Trump look like a bully.

I don't think of our president as "beclowning himself huffing aned puffing". He is not an ordinary thinker, but has a great strategi mind and sees Greenland as being a future threat to the Uniteed States if Russia and/or China decide to make it so.

Reliable? That's not an adjective I'd ever apply to polling from Reuters or Quinnipiac.

If we don't "get" from the Danes we will be forced to seize Greenland militarily when the Chinese take it from the Danes. The euroweenies don't care to understand that. Fools...

I would rank the Greenland issue way down on a list that starts with Obamacare and Wide Open Borders with piles of freebies.

I voted for Trump, would vote for him again, would never vote for Harris. I view what the Trump administration does with a beady, critical eye and don't always agree.
BUT, seizing Greenland it the most RIDICULOUS idea yet.

#11 has the most succinct explanation of the strategic issue that I have seen on any website. It is frightening how few are able to grasp the big picture!!

A big hullaballoo about nothing. Trump is not going to invade Greenland, he does not have any support from even the Republican Congress or the American people to do anything like that. It’s up to the combined NATO militaries to defend Greenland and Trump by outlandishly talking about military action towards Greenland is just trying to get the NATO countries attention.

Reason? At first glance I thought it said Reuters. Not sure there's much difference, though.

The Reason Foundation, which publishes was founded and has operated as a Libertarian outfit, neither far left nor far right. One of Reason's editors, Robert Poole, was very helpful to me as I was tasked to study the efficacy of US commercial airport privatization. He put me in contact with some of the architects of New Zealand's privatization efforts, particularly at Auckland's international airport, efforts which have largely been successful. This was a few decades before New Zealand took their leftward tilt.

What would we say if Biden had said he was going to seize Greenland? I wish our president would keep working on the waste, fraud, and abuse the Dems have done to our country.

Maybe Eric is unfamiliar with Trump's negotiating style. He's going to purchase Greenland before he leaves office.

Anyone who has been observing Trump over the past five years knows how he puts a deal together. He won't take Greenland by force, and he won't not even insist that they become a US territory. He will get what he wants by finding out what Greenland needs and then the negotiating begins.

I am part of the huge majority of Americans who oppose seizing Greenland militarily. While I don't think our president would actually attempt to steal a slice of an ally's country I am also perturbed that he be-clowns himself huffing and puffing that such an act is within the realm of possibility. When his term ends Greenland will still be part of Denmark and Trump's dream of being the first president in a century to add territory will be dashed. Fortunately his actual accomplishments will show him to be one of our greatest presidents ever.
