~How was your Thanksgiving? On a day to give thanks for all the blessings of America, it fell to Gary Beckstrom to announce to the world the death of his twenty-year-old daughter, Sarah. That will taint Thanksgiving every year for the rest of Mr Beckstrom's life - in part because his child's blood is on the hands not just of her killer but of the public policy that enabled the murderer to be on the streets of what passes for the national capital.

Comments:

Steyn quotes Bill Kristol's response regarding Biden's welcoming of thousands of Afghan refugees: "Almost every Afghan refugee will turn out to be so much better an American than Charlie Kirk." Steyn gets it, Trump gets it. Too many of our Republican representatives and so-called conservatives do not get it.

God bless Mark Steyn. The Brits or Canadians will toss him in gaol for honesty eventually. If you like Tucker Carlson or Piers Morgan then don't watch their recent tete a tete. clown show. Two self righteous morons.

Wanker Republicans! Love it. He’s had the Afghans pegged from the getgo. Shortly after 9/11, I posted somewhere that we-Americans- should nuke Afghanistan. I was roundly scolded for saying that. But, I reasoned there would be little or no response from that place. I didn’t understand why it would get such a negative response. I think the ensuing mess would’ve been avoided. It’s been 25 years! Our country is still dealing with it. Rest in Peace, Sarah Beckstrom.

I too once posted that Afghanistan should be nuked and turned int the world's largest soccer park. Read Sebastian Junger's WAR. He embedded in Afghanistan with American platoon for 15 months. Afghan duplicityand viciousness are legendary. Islam sas it is OK to lie and urges the killing of infidels.. I recommend this book: https://www.sebastianjunger.com/war-by-sebastian-junger/

What happened to the Beckstrom family is parents' and grandparents' worst nightmare. Our household would be heartbroken to experience such a tragedy among our three kids and seven grandkids. Shame on Kristol for what he believes and what he said. As per OP, shame on Kristol for what he said.

“We have to do something about labor, and that needs to be a smarter plan than just rounding up every single person and deporting them,” the Georgia congresswoman said. President Donald Trump's trade and immigration agenda is deeply unpopular with the general public. Now, even some of Trump's most loyal allies are voicing their frustrations with the president's policies. During a recent appearance on comedian Tim Dillon's podcast, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R–Ga.) criticized the Trump administration's hardline stance on immigration, warning that its crackdowns create more chaos than security.

~Last week, à propos America's presently presidentless republic, I remarked: Meanwhile, the Ukrainians say Moscow is 'threatening the world with nuclear catastrophe'. Given that an American client state has spent the last month bombing Russia daily, it would be unusual if they were not. But that's no reason to divert the dead husk from another week at his beach house in Delaware. To which Roy Koczela responds: Steyn goes full-on Putinist, literally more submissive to the Kremlin than the Kremlin itself.

This précis of what's going on is hard to beat: So the US Department of Justice lost the case, but two months later, and on the same day, both defendants are dead anyway, along with one of their victorious lawyers. "In the course of forty-eight hours, I can't process what has happened," says their surviving attorney, Gary Lindberg, "but both of our clients, as well as Chris and his wife, are gone."

~The eminent barrister (and later Lord Chancellor) F E Smith was famously asked by an irritated judge: "Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?" To which he replied: "No, my Lord, I am trying to conceal it." If you have a corrupt revenue agency, corrupt law enforcement and corrupt courts, what else do you need? Much of America is institutionally evil, and so-called conservative media are just stringing along for the ride.

Following The Mark Steyn Caribbean Cruise, I am now on terra firma - as are Trump's poll numbers, to a degree not seen either in 2020 or 2016. On the other hand, given the Deep State thumb on the scale in both 2016 ("Crossfire Hurricane") and 2020 (fifty-seven heads of the "intelligence community" assure us that Hunter Biden's laptop is "Russian disinformation"), no prudent person would bet on a free and fair election in November - especially after yesterday's Supreme Court intervention. As I always say: There's no point having the greatest constitution in the world if you've got the crappiest election system in the world.

Most coverage of Friday's verdict from a Manhattan courthouse has focused on the $350 million plus that rogue judge Arthur F Engoron has demanded Trump cough up - for a "crime" which has no known victims and no identifiable proceeds. Confiscating (with interest) close to half-a-billion dollars for no good reason is certainly unusual, even by the standards of US "justice".

President Donald Trump late Thursday said that the United States may “almost completely” eliminate the income tax due to the rising tariff revenue. n the next couple of years, I think we’ll substantially be cutting, or maybe cutting out completely, but we’ll be cutting income tax,” Trump said during an event on Thursday. “Could be almost completely cutting it because the money we’re taking in is going to be so large,” he added. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in June projected that the tariff increases will reduce the federal deficit by $2.8 trillion over the next decade. The Afghan man accused of gunning down two National Guard members blocks from the White House last week had been unraveling for years, unable to hold a job and flipping between long, lightless stretches of isolation and taking sudden weeks-long cross-country drives. His behavior deteriorated so sharply that a community advocate reached out to a refugee organization for help, fearing he was becoming suicidal. Emails obtained by The Associated Press reveal mounting warnings about the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an asylum seeker whose erratic conduct raised alarms long before the attack that jolted the nation’s capital on the eve of Thanksgiving.

As we reported, a judge tossed the case against former FBI Director James Comey for technical reasons, ruling the appointment of the interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, who had filed the matter, was invalid. So it wasn't a ruling on the merits of the case, and it was dismissed without prejudice, so it could potentially be filed again, although there's a potential question about the statute of limitations. The Justice Department (DOJ) has already indicated that it would appeal that decision. So I don't think Comey should be taking that victory lap just yet, because it surely sounds like more is coming.
