Chinese state media ran a few victory laps on Sunday and Monday after news that U.S. and Chinese negotiators reached a provisional trade agreement after two days of talks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The EV Mirage: When market demand is manufactured,

For over a decade, electric vehicles (E.V.s) have been heralded as the salvation of the planet, a technological fix to the existential threat posed by fossil fuels. Governments poured billions into subsidies, activists sounded alarms about climate catastrophe, and states began mandating the end of internal combustion engines. Yet, despite fifteen years of incentives, the E.V. market remains fragile, dependent, and increasingly exposed. The recent collapse in E.V. sales following the expiration of federal tax credits reveals a deeper truth: when demand is manufactured through ideology and regulation rather than consumer value, the product cannot survive without constant political oxygen.

The Pentagon blew up another narco-trafficking vessel and killed four terrorists – this time in the Eastern Pacific. Wednesday’s strike on a narco-vessel in the Pacific is the 14th strike on drug boats since last month. “Earlier today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on yet another narco-trafficking vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) in the Eastern Pacific,” Secretary Hegseth said. “This vessel, like all the others, was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics.

Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.), the lead Senate Republican negotiator on a bill to pay key federal workers during the shutdown, says he has offered Democrats a proposal to pay all federal workers — essential and furloughed federal employees — while federal departments and agencies are shuttered. Johnson told The Hill that he believes Senate GOP leadership supports his offer, but he says the proposal will be discussed in more detail at the weekly Senate Republican policy luncheon Tuesday.“Are they going to take ‘yes’ for an answer?” Johnson said of whether his Democratic colleagues would accept the latest offer. “We’re willing to add furloughed workers,” he said, calling it a “big” concession.

As previously outlined, Canada is so entrenched with their ‘orange man bad’ syndrome, they just cannot get out of their own way on stupid trade decisions. {GO DEEP} You might remember Mexico retreating from Chinese electric vehicle (EV) development following the November 2024 election of Donald Trump. China was on the cusp of investing $5 to $7 billion in new EV manufacturing in Mexico, when President Trump announced he would impose massive tariffs to block any import of Chinese EVs made in Mexico. Trump won the election and together China and Mexico scrapped their plan.

It has been somewhat amusing to watch Democrats twist themselves into pretzels to justify their continued support for miscreants and reprobates, while still trying to claim the moral high ground when it comes to President Donald Trump. In the span of just one week, we’ve seen them rush to defend a Senate candidate, Graham Platner, who didn’t just sport a Nazi tattoo on his chest, but a tattoo of a skull favored by guards at Nazi concentration camps. A guy who spouted anti-gay slurs on social media. Sen. Bernie Sanders, speaking for all Democrats, washes his hands of it.

That was a big win! In Argentina, I want to congratulate the victor. He was a BIG victor, he had a lot of help from us!” the president exulted to reporters on Air Force One en route to Japan from Malaysia. “It was unexpected!”With partial results reported, Milei’s La Libertad Avanza had increased its seats in the Chamber of Deputies to at least 64 from 37 and gained at least six seats in the Argentine Senate.
The Left is ‘Bleeding Kansas’ 5 replies

In the late 1850s, “Bleeding Kansas” was the term used to describe the escalating cycle of violence, when surrogates for the Union and soon-to-be Confederacy fought each other over whether Kansas would be admitted as a free or slave-owning state. As the assaults and killings increased, radicals set the agenda. The logical next step was the nightmares of Fort Sumter and Bull Run. Those calling for restraint and peaceful resolutions were considered weak and traitorous. The thuggish and violent, instead, were praised as the true idealists and patriots, the real “base” of their respective parties.

More than 3,000 point-of-sale terminals, gas pumps and ATMs were inspected. A Virginia federal prosecutor who opposed bringing bank fraud charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James was fired after allegedly mishandling sensitive information related to the case, according to a report. Beth Yusi, who had worked out of the Norfolk office for the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, allegedly sent investigative files containing James’ personally identifying information to her private email account, CNN reported on Friday, citing an internal email. Yusi, who had been employed by the Justice Department since 2010, was axed earlier this month. Several media reports suggested Yusi was fired for pushing back against pressure from the Trump administration to charge James.

Suddenly, Bill Gates is admitting that climate change won’t lead to “humanity’s demise” after all. Now he tells us, after he long joined other climate alarmists in warning of “disaster,” as the West burned trillions on “decarbonizing” and steered economies toward the stone age. The “doomsday view” that “cataclysmic climate change will decimate civilization” is “wrong,” the Microsoft co-founder writes; people will “be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future.” His 2021 book “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster” somehow missed these truths; he predictied instead that global warming “could be worse” than COVID.

Here in America, the Springsteen biopic opened to a truly dreadful $9.1 million. With billions more customers available overseas and Springsteen’s status as a global superstar, you’d think that’s where the money is.Nope. The movie only scooped up another $7 million internationally, which means that its overall global take was a measly $16 million. How bad is that?Well, box office analysts believed the worst it would do just here in America was $15 million, and it ended up only barely topping the domestic worst-case scenario all over the world. Is this a case of “Go woke, go broke?” Well, as I wrote on Sunday,

Ronald Reagan was known for a typically cogent observation about government: "Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." As is so often the case, he was right. He likely didn't foresee the onset of electric vehicles and the climate scolds' touting of them to prevent the planet from catching on fire; those were subsidized before they ever moved in the first place. But those subsidies are gone now, and so a bunch of people who worked on vehicles and batteries are finding themselves out of work.

Trump fired six members of the Commission of Fine Arts, a group of architectural experts that advises the federal government on historic preservation and public buildings, on Tuesday. The Washington Post first reported the firings. A White House official told the newspaper that new members who were more aligned with Trump’s "America First" policies would be named to the commission.
