staffer for Democratic Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey was hit with drug trafficking charges after authorities intercepted eight kilograms of cocaine being delivered to a state office building.
LaMar Cook, who has served as deputy director of Healey’s western Massachusetts office since 2023, was charged with trafficking over 200 grams of cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition related to the bust, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni announced Wednesday.
Multiple parcels containing about 21 kilograms of cocaine have been seized by Massachusetts State Police throughout the investigation into Cook.

Bubble gum machine done hit the jackpot! Moving over twenty keys of nose whiskey, including eight to the state capital, LaMar Cook is a big time dealer. At one time, this large an amount of the bad thing could land a defendant in prison for decades. That probably won't happen to this enterprising Democrat. Cue Arlo Guthrie's "Coming into Los Angeles."

". . .eight kilograms of cocaine being delivered to a state office building". How dumb can you possibly be? That's a rhetorical question. Wonder if this was the idiot that got the drugs into the WH that no one knew anything about? I assume Hunter will now be applying for the open position. Man, what benefits! Does the D in DEI stand for drugs?

"delivered to a state office building"
That alone should be enough to have this governor arrested. To think that her minions are this comfortable using state office building as drug drops. Imagine if any amount of cocaine was delivered to Mar-A-Lago, much less 8 kilos.

How come it is that the perp didn't automatically say it was "for the research lab?" What would I know, I have never even seen a "joint" much less a "hit" of something heavier. (Just trying my hand at fantasy or fiction.)

20 pounds of coke and bail is set at $25,000, so he bonds out with $2,500. Doesn't seem the judge really sees a problem with the illegal drug trade at all.

I can guarantee you this wasn't the first time he'd used this "channel" for his drug trade.
Chances are he is a distributor, or used by distributors, and this became known to the DEA via informant recently.

Maybe there is more to this. From the Boston Herald by Howie Carr.
"Howie Carr: Your State Police ‘gang of thieves’ update
" Like recently-sentenced Gary Cederquist, the head of the CDL crew in Canton, Griffin ran his own personal “gang of thieves,” as the feds put it, “a criminal cabal.” That’s the way it is in organized crime, which is what the State Police are."
