Here in America, the Springsteen biopic opened to a truly dreadful $9.1 million. With billions more customers available overseas and Springsteen’s status as a global superstar, you’d think that’s where the money is.Nope.
The movie only scooped up another $7 million internationally, which means that its overall global take was a measly $16 million.
How bad is that?Well, box office analysts believed the worst it would do just here in America was $15 million, and it ended up only barely topping the domestic worst-case scenario all over the world.
Is this a case of “Go woke, go broke?”
Well, as I wrote on Sunday,

Perhaps the poor showing has something to do with the fact that Springsteen is an obnoxious ass and can’t sing.

The pusillanimous Jersey Jerk has lost all of his mojo through his political delusions and TDS. I wouldn't go to his movie or concerts if he paid me.

Is there anyone from Jersey who doesn't idolize and worship him? I've never met one.

#1 has the post of the year.
Springsteen stinks as a singer. Stinks.
I will never understand why he was popular.
It pains me to even look at him, much less listen to his slurred, atonal lyrics.
Get lost, Bruce.

I’m from New Jersey, and never liked him. Never fell for that plastic blue collar image.
After watching that art house Dylan movie, where he was portrayed like the real jerk that he was, I’m not inclined to see a movie by this boorish pretender.

Springsteen is kind of the rock-n-roll equivalent to Robert DeNiro. Both have morphed into aging TDS-addled dwarves. I grew up during Bruce's "glory days" and for what it's worth never much cared from him, but that is neither here nor there. What matters more is that he once had legions of fans, and it appears many of them no longer care for him either.

Anyone with business sense knew this picture had no profit potential. Walt Disney studios must have a financial death wish.

It's hard to believe that he is the same person who once wrote "Born in the USA." Now he hates everything about the country.

Springsteen has written some excellent songs through the years, but as #9 writes, "Springsteen is kind of the rock-n-roll equivalent to Robert DeNiro." That is so true. It was always important to Bruce to be fashionably left, and so he is. His leftism is more important to him than his art. What a shame. "Born in the USA" was not a patriotic song. When I first heard it some forty years ago, I began disliking Bruce. If Disney takes an expensive bath on this film, that's a good thing. Get woke, go broke. I have a large collection of music. Springsteen's not in it.

Hubs wanted to take daughter #2 to a movie/dinner date for her birthday. He asked if I wanted to go too and I said it depends on the movie. This is the one she picked. I stayed home lol. This is a man who likes everything and he wasn’t impressed with the movie so it must really stink.

Springsteen isn’t the first deluded entertainer who thought their talent, however limited, would transcend their obnoxious hateful political opinions. The graveyard is full of them.

This Springsteen song, "Further on Up the Road," sung by Johnny Cash in his last months on earth, really gets me. I never cared much for Springsteen's singing--and I hate his politics--but the man can write a good song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKpqRbxk4Yk

I'm old enough to remember when Time magazine had this poseur on its cover in 1975. I had the same thought back then when the band KISS came along. More poseurs. Give me some Wilson Pickett...

#14 - have you listened to the lyrics of Born in the USA? It's an anti-American screed of whining poor me. He leveraged his "buddy at Khe San" to garner sympathy and sound patriotic. The rest of the song is nothing more than pissing and moaning over how unfair it all is.
