A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting of an 11-year-old during a doorbell prank over the weekend, according to the Houston Police Department.[snip]
On Tuesday, HPD said Gonzalo Leon Jr. had been taken into custody. He is accused of fatally shooting 11-year-old Julian Guzman on Saturday night.
Police said the incident happened at about 10:55 p.m. in the 9700 block of Racine Street in east Houston. Officers said the young child was ringing doorbells of homes in the area and running away. A witness said Julian was running from a home, after ringing the doorbell, just before he was shot.

"Ding-Dong-Ditch" is deliberately cutesy term used by the lib press to downplay the reality. This is form of harassment that frightens the heck out of elderly living alone, etc. This is *not* to say that the man who shot this child should not be charged with homicide. However, the fact that a young child is out at that time of night in a huge city documents obvious child neglect. Doubtless, the grieving family is posting GoFundMe right now. Here's some context: "In June, police in Chandler, Arizona, released video footage of a group of juveniles committing the “Door Kicking Challenge,” alleging the group pulled the prank on the same home at least 18 times, prompting the homeowner to move out."(per kvsp.com) The parents of these "juveniles" ought to be paying damages to the persecuted homeowner and the "juveniles" should still be in juvie. Meanwhile, the "gun violence" crowd is having a party.

Playing "Ding-Dong-Sitch" is worth a Darwin Award?
Stupid kids. As if playing in the Street wasn't bad enough! And I agree. Why was he out so late? Where are the parents?

I feel no sympathy for the family of this child because they failed to teach him that actions have consequences. He learned that lesson himself, but too late for him to ever put it to use.

This is way more than ringing a doorbell or knocking on someone's door and running. This is a Tik Tok thing called the "door kicking challenge" where they try to kick the door so hard, it comes open. This punk found out the hard way.

Based on what little the article says, he should not have fired. But the kid should not have been living with his head up his arse either.

The man has been released and not charged, YET. The investigation is still under way. He has NOT been cleared. He will almost certainly be charged, and from appearances, rightly so.

The parents, most assuredly not married to each other, were trying to increase the welfare check by hanging off a barstool at the "c-l-u-u-u-u-b" trying to attract the next bebemama/bebedede.

This guy shot an 11year old out pranking people after 11pm. Should the guy have asked the kid how old he was first?

Something like this stupid game could cause me or my wife a heart attack or stroke. Since the kid was running away a paintball to the back would also get attention. Only charges the kids get is disturbing the peace. Unless a death occurs. But again minors, just a slap on the finger nail by a liberal judge.

If this report is accurate.......
This is WAY outside of the bounds of justified shootings. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I’m fascinated that so many have posted that they feel the shooting was unjustified from the article. There is no evidence of it being unjustified in it. Moreover, this is ABC News. I’ll wait for more details.

Someone rang my doorbell and ran off late one night while I was reading in a nearby room. It scared the heck out of me. All kinds of thoughts race through your mind as you jump up out of your chair. I don't know what he was doing, but from the video, my security camera spooked him - he looked right at it, wheeled around and ran. He looked too old to be playing "ding, dong, ditch." My house was dark except for the lamp over my chair, so he may have been checking to see if the house was empty and hoped to break in.
I can understand the frustration of someone whose house is targeted repeatedly by out of control juveniles. That doesn't justify shooting one, however.

It used easy to convict the homeowner when reading from a comfortable chair with a good cup of coffee. There is not much in the article that informs that this area is in Southwest Cholo gang territory, in a high-crime area. 50 years ago, the area was blue-collar and I had relatives who lived there. The last one recently died and I attended the funeral. It made me nervous during the day in broad daylight. I would be on edge, too, if I lived there. The guy probably understood his neighborhood very well.

I take no pleasure from this but what are kids doing kicking doors and ringing bells near midnight? Wake me up at that hour and I won't open the door without 'friend'.
