Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the former House Judiciary Committee chairman who helped lead the impeachments of then-former President Donald Trump, announced on Monday that he will not seek reelection in 2026, ending a 34-year tenure that placed him at the center of Democratic politics in New York and on the national stage. Rep. Jerry Nadler, 78, confirmed that he will retire at the close of his current term, saying his decision was shaped by growing calls for generational change within the Democratic Party. “Watching the Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party, and I think I want to respect that,”

#4, an impressive list. Some folks just cling to power, because it is the only thing they know. Their family doesn't know them or want them around. #6, I read somewhere that the aromas coming off of the good Congressman could knock the proverbial buzzard off a wagon. Folks everywhere in Congress will breathe easier once he's gone. No doubt another Democrat will take his place, and get re-elected to infinity and beyond.

It's hard to imagine that, during 30 years, no better choices were available to the dem voters than Nadler. That's a statement that applies to all the other dino dems as well. What seems to replace them is loud mouthed, know nothings that think that screaming makes them right. Maybe the leadership is coming to reflect the voter base.

Months after a bitter public feud, US President Donald Trump has softened his tone toward former ally Elon Musk. Speaking on the Scott Jennings Show in an interview recorded Tuesday, Trump indicated that Musk’s political future would inevitably lead him back to the Republican Party. "I don’t think he has a choice," Trump said, framing Musk’s options as a choice between the GOP on one side and "radical left lunatics" on the other. Despite their past differences, Trump largely complimented the billionaire and downplayed the dispute. "He’s a good man. He got off the reservation, incorrectly, and that’s okay, because, you know, it’s just one of those things," Trump added.

Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) issued an executive order Tuesday directing the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to work and cooperate with federal law enforcement officials indefinitely. A press release from Bowser’s office stated that the mayor’s order “continues the work of the Safe and Beautiful Emergency Operations Center (SBEOC) in managing the District’s response to the Safe and Beautiful Task Force,” which was established by President Donald Trump. The order from Bowser comes as Trump in early August announced that he was “officially invoking section 740 of the district of Columbia Home Rule Act” and that the MPD would be placed under “direct federal control.” Trump also activated the National Guard.

For all the bellyaching, posturing, proselytizing, and threats of violence both implied and precise, the immigration enforcement operations that Trump's Department of Homeland Security has been running across the country don't seem to be having an impact on at least one surprising segment of the voting population - young, Latino voters, especially males. Even before Trump was officially sworn in and Tom Homan's leash came off, there were signs that an inexplicable rightward shift was happening. For example, as much as it had to hurt them, NBC's national exit polls on Election Day had big red warning flags among the typically loyal Democratic demographic for nervous Harris supporters.
