Rep. Jerry Nadler to Retire After More
Than Three Decades in Congress

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the former House Judiciary Committee chairman who helped lead the impeachments of then-former President Donald Trump, announced on Monday that he will not seek reelection in 2026, ending a 34-year tenure that placed him at the center of Democratic politics in New York and on the national stage. Rep. Jerry Nadler, 78, confirmed that he will retire at the close of his current term, saying his decision was shaped by growing calls for generational change within the Democratic Party. “Watching the Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party, and I think I want to respect that,”

Adios, Jerry the Hutt. And regardless of the rumors he'll be participating in Nathan's July 4th hot-dog eating contest, I'll still be pulling for Joey Chestnut.

#4, an impressive list. Some folks just cling to power, because it is the only thing they know. Their family doesn't know them or want them around. #6, I read somewhere that the aromas coming off of the good Congressman could knock the proverbial buzzard off a wagon. Folks everywhere in Congress will breathe easier once he's gone. No doubt another Democrat will take his place, and get re-elected to infinity and beyond.

It's hard to imagine that, during 30 years, no better choices were available to the dem voters than Nadler. That's a statement that applies to all the other dino dems as well. What seems to replace them is loud mouthed, know nothings that think that screaming makes them right. Maybe the leadership is coming to reflect the voter base.

Trump An FBI Informant? Speaker Mike Johnson
Says President Helped Target Epstein Network

A political storm broke out on September 5 after House Speaker Mike Johnson declared that President Donald Trump acted as an FBI informant in efforts to take down Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network. Speaking during a press briefing, Johnson insisted Trump “wasn’t calling Epstein a hoax” but instead recognised the “unspeakable evil” involved, citing Trump’s decision to bar Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in the mid-2000s. Johnson added that Trump had discussed the matter with him as recently as September 4, describing him as “deeply sympathetic” to Epstein’s victims. His comments echoed a hot mic conversation involving Rep. Mike Collins earlier in the week, first picked up by reporters in Washington.

A 2019 mission in North Korea, which intended to have Navy SEALs plant an electronic device to intercept communications of the country’s leader Kim Jong Un, resulted in an unsuccessful operation that left unarmed North Koreans dead, according to a report from the New York Times on Friday. The mission, which took place during President Donald Trump’s first term, required the president’s direct approval, the Times reports, and came amid high-level nuclear talks between the US and North Korea. The White House and Pentagon declined to comment.

There's a Wednesday afternoon ruling out of the Massachusetts District Court in the Harvard funding case brought against the Trump administration by the university and several organizations challenging the administration's decision to freeze and ultimately terminate nearly $2.2 billion in federal grants to Harvard. The New York Times is describing it largely as a win for Harvard — and it is, in some respects, but not in all of them: Harvard University won a crucial legal victory in its clash with the Trump administration on Wednesday, when a federal judge said that the government had broken the law by freezing billions of dollars in research funds.

Months after a bitter public feud, US President Donald Trump has softened his tone toward former ally Elon Musk. Speaking on the Scott Jennings Show in an interview recorded Tuesday, Trump indicated that Musk’s political future would inevitably lead him back to the Republican Party. "I don’t think he has a choice," Trump said, framing Musk’s options as a choice between the GOP on one side and "radical left lunatics" on the other. Despite their past differences, Trump largely complimented the billionaire and downplayed the dispute. "He’s a good man. He got off the reservation, incorrectly, and that’s okay, because, you know, it’s just one of those things," Trump added.

In a 2-1 decision, a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a preliminary injunction that blocked the Trump administration from removing a group of Venezuelans under the seldom-used 18th-century law. The Fifth Circuit is the first federal appeals court to rule directly on a March 14 presidential proclamation invoking the 1798 law to justify rapid deportations. For all the bellyaching, posturing, proselytizing, and threats of violence both implied and precise, the immigration enforcement operations that Trump's Department of Homeland Security has been running across the country don't seem to be having an impact on at least one surprising segment of the voting population - young, Latino voters, especially males. Even before Trump was officially sworn in and Tom Homan's leash came off, there were signs that an inexplicable rightward shift was happening. For example, as much as it had to hurt them, NBC's national exit polls on Election Day had big red warning flags among the typically loyal Democratic demographic for nervous Harris supporters.

Was floating a ban on trans people owning guns just some basement-level idiot’s idea for “owning the libs”? In the wake of Robin Westman’s deadly Minneapolis rampage, some troll in the bowels of the Trump Justice Department reportedly proposed blocking trans people from buying firearms by declaring them all “mentally ill.” This, of course, is absurd as a simple matter of law: No rule that strips a (dubiously-defined) group of their Second Amendment rights has any chance of holding up in court. And if it did somehow survive, that’s an open invitation for future progs to create their own “mentally ill by definition” categories — deployable to limit lots of other rights.
