Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook sued President Trump in federal court Thursday for trying to fire her over mortgage fraud allegations. The embattled Fed official’s lawyers asked for a judge to block the president’s “unprecedented and illegal” attempt to oust her, which would allow her to keep her job while the case proceeds in Washington, DC, district court. [snip] In the filing, Lowell and the rest of Cook’s legal team claimed her sacking “would subvert the Federal Reserve Act (‘FRA’), which explicitly requires a showing of ’cause’ for a Governor’s removal, which an unsubstantiated allegation about private mortgage applications submitted by Governor Cook

Comments:

You don't allow a disgruntled person who will be fired, back at their position until their case is settled. It's nuts. Pay her off if you have to but get her out of there.
Why engage in 'alleged' mortgage fraud when you make (not earn) a quarter of a mill per year?

That she was a DEI hire with minimal qualifications would be sufficient cause in a sane society, apart from the fact that the charge of mortgage fraud is far from "unsubstantiated." If a person is caught standing over a dead body with a smoking gun in hand, the charge of murder does not remain unsubstantiated until the jury returns a verdict of guilty. Nor does she have to be convicted of mortgage fraud in court when documentary evidence establishes by a preponderance of the evidence that she engaged in criminal behavior. She doesn't have to be proved guilty beyond reasonable doubt to be removed from office.

I hope the Treasury Department has signature authority on her paycheck, and that Secretary Bessent has already stopped payments. She can do a fan-dance about showing up until the court proceedings run their course.... and pay for her attorneys and the court costs with her own savings. With luck, she'll go bankrupt. Let the process be the punishment...

If her mortgage fraud had been known to the Senate Judiciary members, the Democrats would have had to support a trusted member of the Federal Reserve Board who had committed a financial crime. She would have been forced to withdraw her name from consideration. This corrects the lack of due diligence by the Senate committee.

The black community’s disengagement from ordinary acts of civic responsibility is harming America as a whole, but mostly, it’s harming blacks. To appreciate this point, consider the tales told by abandoned shopping carts and litter.
