President Donald Trump shared security footage on social media Saturday, slamming a subcontractor accused of cracking the "most beautiful marble and stone available anywhere" in the recently renovated White House Rose Garden. In a post to Truth Social, Trump said he discovered a "huge gash" in the limestone three days ago, extending more than 25 yards. "Surfaces are very important to me as a Builder," the president wrote in the post. "As everyone knows, I built many GREAT Buildings, and other things, over the years. … [The limestone crack] was deep and nasty!

Re: #5 - Federal contracting rules began to change significantly in the 1990s. The Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act of 1994, encouraged more flexible procurement methods, specifically allowing for "Best Value" contracts to be awarded, which does not require a low bid unless, unless the low bid award can be characterized as being best value over the projected life-cycle of the project or program. The product's quality and value to the government's mission are also a part of best value awards but the focus on costs is appropriate and much needed. Once the government correctly started including life-cycle costs (e.g., R&D, operational test & evaluation (OT&E), deployment, Operations & Maintenance (O&M), technical refreshment, and disposal costs) when procuring goods and services responsive to government Statements of Work within government solicitations, Best Value was rightly recognized as being superior to low bid as a basis for contract award. Where it gets complicated is that procurement funds and O&M funds originate as different "colors of money," or funds appropriated by Congress for specific activities. This can easily be managed by the program office having routine communications with appropriation committee members and their staffers. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) was correct to begin considering the full life cycle costs of program activity in basis of contract award decisions, as it often costs the government less to spend more money up front for high quality goods than to be bled dry by escalating O&M costs (e.g., $8K toilet seats), especially when the vendor claims proprietary rights for spare parts and maintenance work. Current federal procurement requirements place more emphasis on standards-based Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) replacement parts and technologies over proprietary parts and technologies, at significant costs saving over a product's life cycle.

Almost weekly in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, a sensational assault committed by an illegal migrant -- often enjoying some sort of state support or with prior arrests for the same crime -- surfaces. Until recently, European politicians and the media sought to either ignore such news or accuse those who clamored for tighter borders, more police protection, and stiffer penalties of being "racists" or "xenophobes." Until recently, that is. Mass protests are now common in Britain against the Labour Party's open borders policies and generous welfare entitlements for immigrants who arrive illegally and without authentic "political refugee" status.

We won every aspect of the Presidential Election and, based on the great success we are having, are poised to WIN BIG IN THE MIDTERMS,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The heartbreaking mass shooting at the Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday has brought the issue of transgenderism once again to the forefront of American conversations. Robert Westman was an unwell boy who, in 2019, decided he was a girl and officially changed his name to Robin. Westman was a minor at the time so his mother, Mary Grace Weston, signed the application. This is the second such attack by a transgender person on a Christian school. In March 2023, Audrey Hale killed six people, including three children, at the Covenant School in Nashville.

France, Germany and the UK launched a 30-day process to reimpose sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program on Thursday, sending a letter stating their intent to the UN Security Council. The three countries only had until October this year, 10 years after they originally lifted the sanctions, as a window where it would be possible to automatically reinstate the penalties, which include a complete embargo on arms sales to Iran. An Iranian deputy foreign minister said earlier on Thursday that Tehran would cease cooperation with the UN's nuclear agency if France, Germany and the UK reimposed so-called "snapback" sanctions that were halted as part of the 2015 nuclear deal.

If ever there were an example of the perils of the Democrat approach to crime and social disorder, it is Minneapolis, ground zero of the George Floyd/defund-the-police movement that roiled the country five years ago, and a “sanctuary transgender state.” The deadly mass shooting of small children at Mass at Annunciation Catholic School Wednesday brings home the tragic cost of a disordered society, where evil rampages unchecked and those who would protect the vulnerable are handcuffed and pushed away. It’s too early to say exactly how, or even if, the tragedy could have been prevented. Yet Minnesota Democrats already have reached for their lazy gun-control mantra,

The answer was not Trump alone. Indeed, irony abounds when Democrats resonate with the claims of the vestigial Never Trumpers that the MAGA movement “hijacked” the Republican Party. In characteristic projectionist fashion, the left is simply falsely attributing to their opposition the very hijacking that hit the Democratic Party. The Republicans are still the party of conservatism and traditionalism. But in the last decade, it adopted an expansionary middle-class agenda that has led to record party registration, its first popular presidential vote victory since 2004, and control of all three branches of government.

The winds of change could soon blow on Iran, according to a new report. The Islamic Republic is facing collapse, indicates the report, issued by UK-based Henry Jackson Society this week, as the UN accuses Tehran of executing nearly 900 people already this year “as a tool of intimidation.” If the Islamic Republic falls, “there is a danger that regime collapse could lead to a vacuum of governance that is accompanied by civil war,” according to the findings. “This is an outcome that must be avoided at all costs for the Iranian people, and every step must therefore be made to ensure that any transition is quick and painless,” it added.

Chicago's far-left leadership just made its priorities crystal clear—criminal illegal aliens first, federal law second. Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) has signed an executive order aimed at blocking federal immigration authorities from doing their jobs in the city, even as Chicago grapples with out-of-control crime, an illegal immigration crisis, and mounting public frustration. The order openly declares that city police will not assist federal agents in arresting or removing illegal immigrants, even those with criminal records. Instead, the city’s law department has been instructed to use “any and every legal mechanism” to target the federal government for trying to enforce immigration laws.

SOMERVILLE, Tenn. — Investigators released new information Friday after exhuming the body of Pauline Mullins Pusser nearly six decades after she was buried. Pauline was the wife of Sheriff Buford Pusser, a Tennessee legend known for carrying a stick as he cracked down on crime. Mark Davidson, District Attorney for the 25th Judicial District, said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has “produced evidence sufficient to create probable cause.” That means that “more likely than not,” if Buford Pusser were alive today, an indictment could be presented to the McNairy County Grand Jury for their consideration against him for the murder of his wife. More than likely, Davidson explained,
