A federal judge on Friday blocked the Trump administration from cutting off federal funding to dozens of "sanctuary" cities and counties — covering several of the largest cities in the U.S. The judge had previously ruled in April that it was unconstitutional for President Trump to freeze funding for local governments that limit their cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement — commonly known as sanctuary cities. That ruling applied to more than a dozen cities and counties that had sued the Trump

They're relying on the 10a, powers not specified for the Fed are reserved to the states?
That's not going anywhere. Stupid argument. The states do have an obligation to assist federal law enforcement-and- the Fed has no obligation to send free money to cities. For any or no reason at all. They are not entitled to federal funds for any purpose.
Judge will be smashed on appeal, cities will lose funding, ICE will be there the whole,e time anyway, illegals will go home or be sent home. Democrat districts full of fake illegal alien voters won't be so blue anymore. Crime will go down. Streets cleaner. Schools fewer kids per teacher. Signs will be in English. Emergency rooms won't be over crowded. Housing costs will go down. Traffic will be lighter.
Sounds great to me.

More and more, I'm leaning in the direction of leniency for illegal aliens who are gainfully employed in the hospitality industry, farm labor, and building/home construction, so long as they have a clean criminal record. If they are found guilty of drunk driving, theft, or any other misdemeanor or felony, they should either go to prison or be deported. Even if they are permitted to remain here, they should not obtain citizenship and voting rights, just work permits--until they have formally applied for naturalization and have proven themselves to be useful workers. No welfare layabouts.
There is increasing evidence that our economy is not coming up with enough citizens who will apply to work in these labor categories.

If we'd stop giving away Welfare money to perfectly able-bodied Americans, there would be plenty of citizens applying for those jobs which "Americans won't do' because we pay them not to.

The Supremacy Clause, found in Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the U.S. Constitution, establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made in accordance with it, and treaties are the supreme Law of the Land and take precedence over any conflicting state laws. This clause is a fundamental part of American federalism, meaning that in cases of direct conflict, federal law prevails, and state judges are bound to uphold federal law over state law.
The federal government has clear and necessary Constitutional control over our borders and dealing with people who are in the country illegally. State and local officials who obstruct federal enforcement are VERY CLEARLY in violation of federal law, which has supremacy.
PERIOD!
As so much else, this is another illegal stalling tactic by Leftists. It will wind its way through the court system, reach the (finally rational) SCOTUS and the states will lose.

The sanctuary cities argument is the same as that of the Southern Manifesto. If these judges are right then Senator Eastland of Mississippi was right.

Didn’t the SCOTUS already rule against these judges who are trying to throw up road blocks into everything President Trump is trying to do to save this country? PDT should tell the to pound sand and get out of the way.

#3 nails it on the head with a ten pound sledge hammer. "He who does not work shall not eat," physical impairments excluded. In what universe should working American taxpayers be required to finance those who break the law? Cross the North Korean border illegally and you will get no further than a sniper lets you.

Why do these judges think that they have the power to decide how the country's money is spent? This garbage has to stop. We are $ 36T in debt. There is some serious budget tightening going on or we will be doomed.

It’s amazing how the Dems scream that PRESIDENT Trump is a dictator. But the “elected” officials in cities can say their city is a sanctuary city , which allows rapei, killers, child molesters and
Any other crime that can be committed, to live safe in their city without the consent of the voters! Is that not a dictatorship? And a stupid judge, who lacks the knowledge of 3 branches of government, can side with the city officials. PRESIDENT Trump trying to stop crime and protecting citizens vs those protecting the illegal and the breaking of laws. Which one is the dictator?

Another day. Another liberal judge who imagines their job includes oversight of the Executive Branch. Are the Appeals Court judges getting tired yet?

#10. I'm only surprised it's a Hiz Honor, and not a Her Honor.
All these liberal appointed, and liberal judges are turning out to be tin pot dictators themselves. They all seem to have TDS and are all subverting existing law to block his faithful execution of the law.
Even though there are not enough votes in the Senate to impeach these judges, each time they make up a ruling to thwart PDJT 2.0, they should be hauled in front of the Senate to defend themselves against impeachment. The country would get an eyeful of what they are doing that subverts existing law, and the process would be the punishment.

Trump can direct the Treasury to print the checks but NOT send them. OR if it's a wire transfer (old term) they can notify the cities banks the money is coming but now specify a date. Judges do not have the authority to direct the Executive Branch to do anything, Pound SAND!

Every time one of judges makes one of these Royal decrees, they should spend a month or more in jail.

President Trump needs to make sure that the budget does not have funding or any of the known sanctuary cities. He can't block what isn't there.

i am pulling away -2- as it is a dc swamp argument for the eternal chain migration of endless hordes
--who kill with weapons, from cars to crimes--and an endless injustice to those waiting decades
to migrate legally.
it's a dc swamp argument for unfairly denying education and jobs to skilled americans.
it is a boomer regime argument -- from the ungodly bushes, clintons, ogabes, and bribems--
to erase the real achievements and toils of americans who built up this land; to replace them,
with fakery...fake plandemics, fake food, fake leadership, fake gods, fake AI and bots.

This is not the end of this..... makes great shock headlines, but there are appeals coming, and as the BOSS Executive, TRUMP can manage the money how he likes, just like the corrupt way NoBama/Vegetable used public money to grant funds to pick the winners and losers in an attempt to undermine the Republic to "transform"it into something unrecognizable and UN-American
