Videos of the nation’s capital being swept clean of homeless encampments in just one week may have Californians adding Washington, DC, to the unofficial list of top-10 U-Haul destinations.
In Los Angeles, the problem of tent encampments has persisted for almost 20 years.
They began to pop up after city officials settled an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit in 2007 by agreeing to stop enforcing a ban on sitting, lying or sleeping on the sidewalk.
More lawsuits, settlements and court rulings led to the entire city and much of the state becoming the site of homeless encampments on sidewalks, streets, freeway embankments, overpasses, underpasses, median strips, parks, parking lots, public plazas, beaches,

It takes both leadership and “spine” to make the right decision when it comes to doing “what’s right” for society, as a whole. Don’t look for either trait within the current ranks of the “professional politician class” of either political party, but especially not within the Democrat Party. Democrats show an unswerving allegiance to talking points and opinions put forth in the, “DNC HQ ‘Morning FAX Blast.’”
Whereas RINOs are independently stoopid, Democrats accomplish it through cult-like adherence to Party Leaders.
It’s highly unlikely that any major DNC donor ever has to drive through the results of their own “values” or “promotions.” And the biggest question to be answered is, “How much ‘dark money’ flows into Dem Campaigns and the DNC, as a whole?”

FTA: "They began to pop up after city officials settled an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit in 2007 by agreeing to stop enforcing a ban on sitting, lying or sleeping on the sidewalk." Thats like saying it's OK to park your car and set up a tent in middle of the highway. Democrats are stupid, California is paying the price.

California didn't "endure" them, they embraced them. Millions of dollars extracted from the taxpayers to "help the homeless" went into democrat pockets. It was all a big social experiment to see how much abuse working people could endure. Nobody wants to walk over human waste and hypodermic needles so they reached their red line and began moving out.

I left California because of the Democrats and what they have done to the state.
But to be honest I would love to go back if, if I could. I visited and realized I just couldn't.
I've been exiled, and the Palisades fires were as it were the icing on the cake.

The overwhelming majority of the homeless occupying our city sidewalks and parks are mentally ill with or without accompanying drug addiction. Yes, our idiot judges have given them permission to do so but these same courts have made it nigh on impossible to institutionalize and/or treat these folks with medication. California, in particular, has spent billions without success and much of that has been wasted on things like free needles, public housing, and even cash payments. Again, at the heart of this problem are our liberal-minded judges who dispense foolishness instead of wisdom and a respect for society and the law.

Allow me to make a bold prediction. DC will overwhelmingly vote democrat during the next election cycle.
Another Bold prediction.....California will too.
All of these deep blue cities are in a doom spiral. Not helped when the only voters left have their hands out, are wealthy virtue signaling moron and those that don't have a choice.

We pays loads of money for law enforcement, and they could enforce the law --- if the Mayor's, DA's, and Democrats would let them do it.

The "homeless" term was invented by the Democrats to brand Reagan's economic policy as the cause. If we use that term then we are giving a victory to the left. Call them mentally ill. Advocate for mental hospitals to be rebuilt and involuntary commital to be reinstated.
The left started kicking the mentally ill out of hospitals in the 1950's. They had all kinds of reasons that sounded compassionate on the surface but were really quite cruel. By the 1970's most ended up living on the streets. Then Carter gave us double digit inflation and Reagan had to fix that mess. The fix hickup'd the economy and there was a short recession. The Dems claimed it meant people couldn't afford a place to live and blamed the Reagan recession as the cause of all the people living on the streets. So they called them homeless in order to emphasize their lie.

Step 1 to solving any social problem is to stop tolerating it. Once you do that the next steps become obvious.

The section of the DC Home Rule (big mistake by Congress to pass such a law) that allows President Trump to do what he is doing now is only good for 30 days. Then Congress has to extend it or the DC Mayor can request it to continue. And Mayor Bowser will not . So as soon a she NG troops leave and the additional law enforcement, things will go back to "normal." What really annoy me is that I can see why residents of Chicago, NYC, etc might balk at having NG troops in tier cities, but DC is not a regular city. It's the Nation's Capital and you would think DC residents would have greater sense of pride about that but thy do not... Wonder why...?
Oh, and these talking heads exclaiming how DC is such beautiful city. It's only the areas that are under federal government control that are beautiful.

I'm all for getting rid of homeless encampments. I do wonder where these people went or were taken and how long it will take to find enough housing or rehab or mental hospitals for them. The places where they landed must be reeling. There are plenty of therapists in existence, I gather, but I'd guess many of them are dedicated liberals who would rather send mentally ill people back to the streets, and even with the number we have there are probably not enough trained therapists. Further, some percentage of the homeless refuse shelter or treatment so laws may have to be changed to keep them off the streets. Just wondering if Trump's people thought this all out.

The homeless in Los Angeles have destroyed the city. Homeless are lying about everywhere. As the Illegal Aliens are deported place the homeless in their apartments and the other Aliens will self-deport.

Not submitting ot the bums is the right thing to do. Arrest some, put others into mental wards with locked doors, and just shove the rest to the edge of town. If they want to continue to live like bums, they must be forced to find some place where they aren't bothering anyone.
NOT in the middle of the city.

Come on back, #5, Jesuslover54!
Came to LA to study, as the counseling I wanted to learn was only offered then in Philadelphia and LA, at Masters U. Couldn’t go to Philly as ex lived there, so shipped car, enrolled at Masters in Santa Clarita, joined Grace Community Church, and learned from Dr. John MacArthur [who just recently passed away from earth], Dr. John Street, and other wise Believers.
Daughter married someone from Palo Alto, had two children, and said to come live near them. They would add an ADU during their renovation. [Other daughter had married and moved to Colorado, but no children then and too cold there!]
Now come on back, we have a great Bible church in Cupertino, now Tech-ville, where everyone is always welcome. Would love to meet you.
