One Year Ago Today I Ruined My Life

Original Article

One year ago today, on August 24th, 2024, I was freshly back from three days at the Democratic National Convention. I’d worked in politics nearly half my life, starting out as an intern on Barack Obama’s campaign when I was only seventeen years old, then as a field organizer for Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Before Obama won the primary in 2008, I was an alternate delegate for Hillary in Kansas’ third congressional district, one of the youngest ever in the state of Kansas.

Comments:

Fascinating account by a former Democrat insider.

I liked her story. It takes time to wake up from delusion. Whether or not she is "self absorbed" she is still chipping away at the power of the hard left. She can bring more similar minded voters with the intensity of a recent convert than someone already in the fold. It's a good thing.

I enjoyed that. She told the truth. She let herself admit many truths. That is always a good thing. She said something very true about the current dems which is glaringly obvious to us on Lucianne, but I am not sure how many brainwashed young people realize this, the left does not allow diversity of thought. They are truly not the diversity party.

FTA: "What the public craves more than anything is authenticity." Not if you're authentically stupid. No, the public craves rational and competent and dedicated leadership. Trump has set a highwater mark for that. Let's hope that that is the lesson learned by the public so they aren't deluded by the DimoKKKrap party's latest manufactured "authenticity." FTA: "I’ve lost friends I’ve known for fifteen years. My toddler stopped getting invited to birthday parties. He was rejected from preschool. We even had to move to a new town." The last two sentences are a little unbelievable- or perhaps true but just non sequiturs to her spitting the Dim Hook.

This story depicts what is known in human psychology as "shunning" behavior. It is deeply embedded in our subconscious and serves as a survival mechanism that distinguishes between "us" and "them". "Us" is our clan, cult, or sect. "Them" is an outsider, infidel, heretic, or demon. Anyone who has ever been a Scientologist or known a Scientologist who left Scientology immediately recognizes the response. Disconnection. Slander, Threats of violence, or intimidation. This is why it is so hard for people to leave cults and be cut off from friends and family. It is irrational and destructive, but it is the hallmark of weak minds seduced by a group psychology that crushes critical thinking and individual choice.

Its pretty clear that she was a Democrat because of loyalty to the party, not loyalty to the country. I don't think she really understands that. She left because that party is on a path to oblivion. She sees policy as a way to win in politics, not as a way for the country to win.

Nice to see the diversity of thought and opinion on this thread. She's right, diversity is not simply skin color. To think so is showing bias and stereotypes since it insinuates everyone of a particular color skin is supposed to act and react to situations in the same manner. Today's Democrat party is as brutal as she describes and it won't change. What hopefully happens is the RNC is able to pull over those more moderate and conservative Democrats into the Republican side since today's Democrat party does not have any actual place for either moderates or conservative Democrats any longer. Just look at those "demonstrating" and agitating against anything they don't like. Is that the average Democrat voter? I don't believe so, but it is the current elected establishment so they need to be persuaded from fostering that notion. To realize their vote for that candidate is affirmation and support for those extreme ideas and policies. Only need 5-8% of them to shift then more and then more.

Looks like she swallowed a "time-released" red pill. So she's a work in progress... okay. Far as the "friends" go -- my politics haven't changed much in 40 years, but I once had friends that decided to go bat-guano crazy to the left, and they are the ones who decided to cease the friendships, not me. Not that I'm complaining -- I wouldn't be able to handle the insufferable preaching from them now that I should join them in their politics. Reality is those kinds of people aren't anybody's friends, and anyone who has "lost" them should probably count it as a blessing instead.

There is no fixing the dem party. They are not only misguided and stupid, they are hopelessly corrupt. That truth is leaking out all around them. The reality is that Leftism, no matter how structured, is a societal dead end. It is fundamentally flawed and cannot be made workable. Thus the claim that "true socialism has never been tried" is an insanity and we should avoid Socialism like the plague that it is. Evan sees the failure of the people that she associated with, which is true and bad enough. But she doesn't grasp the pointlessness of Leftist thought.

What Made the Democratic Party Go Crazy? 8 replies

The answer was not Trump alone. Indeed, irony abounds when Democrats resonate with the claims of the vestigial Never Trumpers that the MAGA movement “hijacked” the Republican Party. In characteristic projectionist fashion, the left is simply falsely attributing to their opposition the very hijacking that hit the Democratic Party. The Republicans are still the party of conservatism and traditionalism. But in the last decade, it adopted an expansionary middle-class agenda that has led to record party registration, its first popular presidential vote victory since 2004, and control of all three branches of government.

Democrats in Washington, D.C., are furious — not because violent crime was spiraling out of control, but because President Donald Trump did something to stop it. A new Washington Post-Schar School poll found that roughly 8 in 10 D.C. residents oppose Trump’s deployment of the National Guard. The poll was conducted between Aug. 14 and Aug. 17 and surveyed 604 D.C. residents with a +/- 4.1 percentage point margin of error. This outrage was unsurprising, given that the propaganda press peddled the same narrative in recent days. A quartet of so-called journalists at CNN reported on Aug. 14 that a crowd in D.C. was “outraged by federal law enforcement presence.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James is going to need a bigger fish or a smaller trophy wall. For months, James has paraded her victory over President Donald Trump in her civil judgment of half a trillion dollars. It did not matter that many of us denounced the judgment as grotesque and raw lawfare. Now, however, the appellate court has replaced that mounted Marlin with a mere minnow. It threw out the financial penalty as unconstitutional and unwarranted. Even that downsized catch may have to be pulled down, since Trump can appeal the decision to leave the injunctive relief — including limits on doing business in New York — in place.

Tulsi Gabbard told President Trump before her nomination that she had come to peace with serving as last director of national intelligence if eliminating the post was necessary to permanently reform the sprawling intelligence community. Now six months after her confirmation and with the president’s blessing, Gabbard will launch a campaign to dramatically overhaul the entire agency by returning it to its original purpose and thereby preserving its future. According to senior officials who assisted in the review, the plan includes cutting the workforce by 40%, eliminating redundant mission centers whose work is already being fulfilled elsewhere in the intelligence community, and doubling down on the core function of the agency:

What might such a deal look like? Simply put, it would consist of territorial concessions in exchange for security agreements. Ukraine would cede portions of Russian-occupied territory in Crimea and the eastern provinces in exchange for a security alliance with the United States and European powers.

President Trump went on a late-night attack against NBC and ABC News on Sunday, deriding them for what, in his view, was "biased" coverage and said he would be in favor of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoking their licenses. The Republican president said the news outlets had given him negative coverage on "97%" of stories. It wasn’t clear from where Trump was citing the "97%" figure. A study released earlier this year by the conservative media watchdog group, Media Research Center (MRC), found that coverage of the president’s first 100 days in office was "92% negative."
