Trump Executive Order: Burn the American
Flag, Go to Jail

Original Article

I’m not a lawyer, but I‘ve never quite understood how burning the American flag is a “free speech” issue. Lighting a flag on fire isn’t the same as giving your opinion or writing an article—it’s an action. If I took my bedsheet and lit it on fire on Fifth Avenue, I’m pretty sure a cop would be stopping by shortly. Donald Trump is certainly no fan of flag-burning, and on Monday, he signed an executive order banning the practice. Titled PROSECUTING BURNING OF THE AMERICAN FLAG, the order vows to restore the “sanctity” of the Stars and Stripes: My Administration will act to restore respect and sanctity to the American Flag

Not a fan of this. The important thing is to reduce the number of people who want to burn our beautiful flag (e.g., better history in schools, cleaning up the museums, deporting aliens who disrespect our country, etc.). Outlawing the symptom isn't all that helpful.

Our kids do not study American history. The flag does not mean to them what it means to us older people. A better start would be mandating American history in schools. I agree 100% about arresting those who burn the flag, I just think it's a small hill to die on right now. But I'll back him on this.

SCOTUS having ruled this a "free speech" issue, I suggest that the Administration treat it exactly as such: henceforth, burning or similar destruction of the American flag will be regarded as the equivalent of saying, "I renounce my American citizenship." No criminal penalty, but the now-alien had better scramble to secure his/her/its/their/other right to remain in this country.

The 1st Amendment guarantees us free speech . The left decided that was too much so they came up with " hate " speech " and it's a crime. So according to the lefts constipated thinking ( burning our flag is not an act of love ) setting fire to our flag is a hate crime.. Personally I have no use for " hate" speech or its brother, " hate " crime. Limited speech is not free speech. A crime is either crime or it's not.......me calling you a racial epithet is my right. Me beating you up is not.In our world of multiple standards , try burning a koran and see what happens.

Trump knows this won't pass judicial muster - at any level - even in Texas. He doesn't care. This is simply virtue signaling aimed at making the MAGA crowd ecstatic. He wants to force his opponents to take the opposite side. One more 80:20 issue that the Dims will be on the wrong side.

#7. You are probably right that in the cases involving US citizens, burning the American flag will not pass muster as being a criminal offense. But that does not in anyway mean the Congress cannot make burning the American flag a deportable offense in the immigration laws, by which aliens, defined as any person not a citizen or national of the USA, who is subject to the immigration laws, could find herself or himself subject to being deported from the USA for burning the American flag. It’s up to Congress!

This is wrong on so many levels. I am once again disappointed in Trump and thats becoming more and more frequent lately. Burning the flag, as lousy as it seems, is making a statement. The flag is not the country or a person, it is an inanimate object; a symbol of what should have been but with no sentience of its own. I offered my life under that flag and I've also been ashamed to fly it at times. The president should have bigger fish to fry. I'm starting to wonder if the libs dont have a point about him.

The other problem with this is that Art. II does not give the President power to enact laws, but only to execute laws passed by Congress. The congressionally delegated power to administer certain laws by agency regulations does not apply. I hate flag burning but I love the Constitution more.

It is specious for courts to declare that burning the American flag is "speech." That's foolish language, even if was stated in a majority SCOTUS opinion. The Court's been known to be wrong before. Flag burning is not speech--it's burning, done by some masochists who secretly want to be punished. Such firebugs as these are vermin, and deserve to be flogged as if on the HMS Bounty, even if that never happens.

If people receive jail penalties for burning a trans flag, an Israel flag, etc., why then wouldn't burning an Amercan flag suffer any penalties? The other flag holders claim those burning their flags are “inciting violence,” so in my opinion, like President Trump, I believe those burning the American flag are inciting violence against USA. Flags are symbols or icons for deeply held beliefs, and burning them publicly is a statement against the symbolism.

so some believe that the flag is just a symbol and if someone wants to burn it, fine it's just free speech. BUT dont you dare burn the BLM flag, or that stupid GAY flag! That is a crime and can get you up to 15 years in jail. Just ask the guy who is sitting in jail because he burned a gay flag. Tell him he should have burned the American flag. because to some Americans its just a flag.

Trump Sends the Navy, Marines Down the
Venezuelan Coast - Here's Why

President Trump is sending Venezuela's strongman dictator a gentle nudge, a sort of reminder to behave himself. That reminder is in the form of a United States Navy task group, including the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. This would be, of course, far more than El Presidente Maduro's country could take on. This isn't a new tactic. Historically, sending warships to patrol up and down an unfriendly nation's coast is a time-tested way to remind these kinds of people to behave themselves. There's a possibility these ships may have more than one mission, as well. This military activity follows White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt's statement last week

And Democrats do. Over and over again. Over the last couple of days, I have written about Donald Trump's "cornering strategy," a term I use to describe Trump's deliberate choices to provoke Democrats into defenses of the worst of their policies and outcomes. That is especially apparent on urban crime, where Trump has Democrats attempting to claim that Washington DC streets are safe when their homicide rate far exceeds places like Fallujah on a per-capita basis. Trump has done this all year on issues like trade, foreign policy, and government spending, but it has been particularly effective on immigration, law enforcement, and cultural

The nation was left reeling Wednesday after a tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, where a gunman killed two young children and injured several others. Authorities later identified the shooter as a transgender-identifying male with radical left-wing views—a detail the media was quick to downplay. Sadly, this has become an all-too-familiar pattern. Just as we saw after the 2023 Covenant school massacre in Nashville, the press is once again bending over backwards to bury the shooter’s transgender identity. On his Fox News program Wednesday night, Jesse Watters blasted the media for their blatant double standard. In his monologue, Watters detailed cases of shootings, firebombings, and ideological extremism

When Democrats do something wrong, the story is always that Republicans are "seizing" or "pouncing," as if the criticism is unfair or simply a political ploy to take power away from our rightful rulers. It's just a fact of life. Pravda exists to harm Republicans and put Democrats in power, so they have to distract from the fact that Democrats are ruining things. I wrote a few days ago about how the Democratic establishment--not Democrat politicians or activists, but the people whose job it is to win elections--see Trump's moves on fighting crime as a "trap."

To paraphrase Winston the Wolf from Pulp Fiction, let's not start shaking each other's hands quite yet. American presidents since Harry Truman have tried to establish Middle East peace as their legacy. We could stretch that back another half-century if we include British and French leaders, for that matter. That even includes Donald Trump, who maybe came closer with the Abraham Accords than anyone since Bill Clinton. By the time Trump returned to office, Israel was in the middle of fighting a war started by Hamas and joined by Hezbollah and Iran. Bill Clinton employed a triangulation strategy to co-opt Republican voters. Donald Trump has spent the first seven months of his presidency employing a cornering strategy. Trump has used his bully pulpit -- perhaps in the most literal sense since the Roosevelts -- to force Democrats to corner themselves onto the fringe positions on issues that matter most to American voters. This month, Trump has used executive action on crime to force Democrats to side with criminals. He's about to force them to double down with his latest move to end cashless bail in Washington DC, and his efforts to use federal funding to leverage the same change across the country:

The biggest, boldest lie of every welfare state is that the goods and services it is providing to its citizens are "free." Those of us with brain cells and an aversion to lying know that this is not only untrue, but also impossible. Politicians are fond of throwing taxpayer dollars around like drunk Kennedy cousins on summer break in Monte Carlo in order to make voters love them. Despite being full-throated advocates for "sustainability" when it comes to almost anything else, socialist welfare state types are committed to an economic system that simply cannot go on forever.
