Chicago community leaders and longtime residents say the Obama Presidential Center risks washing away the neighborhood’s fabric, warning that proposed luxury developments tied to the project could price out families who have long called the South Side home, according to a report. They also say the sprawling 19.3-acre site in historic Jackson Park, with its 225-foot-tall concrete museum, has become an eyesore that disrupts the natural landscape and all locals are getting in return for the unsightly structure is soaring rents and higher tax bills.

The City of Chicago should take all the land adjacent to the Obama monstrosity, and build as many public housing projects that will fit on that land, call it affordable housing and go from there. The visitors staying at the luxury hotel would sure love to recreate and stroll through that affordable housing in the evenings no doubt about that.

Some residents "fear" they'll be displaced? For some of them, it's a practical certainty. And if they want to understand what they're up against, I refer them to the residents of Beijing who were told to "move along" in the mid-00s because their dwellings were going to be torn down to build venues for the 2008 Olympic Games. Given the Demonrat political hydra (leglislative, executive, and judicial) behind this, the residents' chances are slim...

First, notice they aren't calling it his presidential Library. Second, he never cared about the City of Chicago and left to never come back, as soon as he could. Third, Chicago was likely the only place that would allow it to be built with the builders being in total control. Fourth, can't wait to see what they actually put into the "center" as it certainly won't feature the January 5 2017 meeting in the Oval Office where the Conspiracy was launched to "get Trump" by targeting General Flynn. Never forget that meeting as it was during the supposedly peaceful transition.

This is a DEI building. The concret is cracking. The minority concrete contractor is blaming the engineer. The engineeer is contending it is definitely the fault of the concrete contractor. The concrete contractor is suing the engineer for defamation- racism. Questions: Does Chicago get earthquakes? If this building was ready to come down, wouldn't the implosion be spectacular?

I live in Austin, TX. Up until about 25 years ago, the area of town right next to downtown on the east side of Interstate 35 was considered the "ghetto" part of town. Almost all black residents. And black leaders were constantly spewing how racist everyone else was because they wouldn't go to that part of town to eat in the restaurants and shop at the stores. So a bunch of guilty-feeling white limousine liberals started going over there (during the day only). What they discovered were a bunch of cool looking (though greatly in need of upkeep) homes and buildings. And they cost about 1/4 of what you could find homes for in the rest of Austin. So they started buying them up and fixing them up. Or they could get them so cheap they would tear down the existing house and build some modern building. They also started demanding more police presence in that area of town, so crime went down. Needless to say, property values skyrocketed, as did property taxes. Black people who had lived there for generations were priced out and forced to leave. Those same black leaders who were crying "racism" before were now crying "racist gentrification". So people of the South Side of Chicago, see your future. And you can think Øvomit for it happening!!!!

This is entertaining. This isn’t a small donation project. They’re at more than twice their original estimate and climbing toward $1 billion. They’ve probably already tapped out anyone who cares. Who’s paying for the maintenance and employees once it’s built? It hasn’t sunk in with the Obamas that their relevance is disappearing. Michelle’s failing podcast didn’t give them a hint. Tulsi Gabbard told President Trump before her nomination that she had come to peace with serving as last director of national intelligence if eliminating the post was necessary to permanently reform the sprawling intelligence community. Now six months after her confirmation and with the president’s blessing, Gabbard will launch a campaign to dramatically overhaul the entire agency by returning it to its original purpose and thereby preserving its future. According to senior officials who assisted in the review, the plan includes cutting the workforce by 40%, eliminating redundant mission centers whose work is already being fulfilled elsewhere in the intelligence community, and doubling down on the core function of the agency:

The historic peace summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place this weekend in Alaska, with the two nations coming somewhat closer to achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine. Those who had hoped this meeting would result in an immediate end to the conflict were left disappointed; however, top U.S. diplomat and negotiator Steve Witkoff said that Putin had agreed Ukraine would receive a NATO-esque protection guarantee, which would protect Ukraine from further Russian aggression after the war. That’s a key component of any peace agreement — Ukraine can’t simply agree to lose some territory now if

President Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday didn’t yield the ceasefire deal Trump was hoping for, but there was apparently enough progress made that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and top European leaders are meeting with Trump in Washington today to discuss the possibility of peace negotiations and a deal to end to the war for good. What might such a deal look like? Simply put, it would consist of territorial concessions in exchange for security agreements. Ukraine would cede portions of Russian-occupied territory in Crimea and the eastern provinces in exchange for a security alliance with the United States and European powers.

At the August 15 Alaska summit, Vladimir Putin performed as expected. He desperately wants an end to Western sanctions, détente with the U.S., and assurances that the U.S. will not impose a disastrous anti-Russian secondary boycott—and, apparently, some additional Ukrainian territory. Consequently, Putin, in his media synopsis, talked more about restored friendship with a “neighborly” United States under Trump. He scarcely mentioned Ukraine directly—other than to imply to Westerners that he seeks not merely to annex a foreign country, but to reclaim what he views as a former Soviet province with ancient ties to the Russian people.

(snip) Hennepin County Attorney’s Office (HCAO) declined to charge Brown because “the victim knew how to fight.”

The border wall separating the United States and Mexico is being painted black to make it too hot for migrants to climb. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem revealed the project was a specific request from Donald Trump as the president celebrated 'ZERO releases' of illegal migrants into the country. 'In the hot temperatures down here, when something is painted black it gets even warmer,' Noem said during a press conference in front of the wall on Tuesday. She noted the structure is already hard to climb and near impossible to dig under, but said Trump's latest measure will help to secure the American border even further.

Like many businesses, Bed, Bath & Beyond is fleeing California. Unlike most, however, it's not slinking out quietly. It's letting the world know why it got the hell out of Dodge. In a publicly issued statement, its executive chairman, Marcus Lemonis, wrote: We will not open or operate retail stores in California. This decision isn’t about politics — it’s about reality. California has created one of the most overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in America. It’s a system that makes it harder to employ people, harder to keep doors open, and harder to deliver value to customers. The result?

The state of Texas is generating considerable buzz ahead of the 2026 midterm elections regarding its efforts to redraw the state’s congressional districts. Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate race is starting to turn heads on the Republican side, as incumbent Republican senator John Cornyn faces a tightly contested primary challenge from Attorney General Ken Paxton, which could turn a non-competitive race into a Democrat pickup.

President Donald Trump has instructed legal experts to review “woke” installations in museums nationwide. According to an Aug. 19 post on Truth Social, the president believes that museums are the “last remaining segment of ‘WOKE,’” and he wants to address the issue the same way his administration has treated colleges and universities. Trump pointed specifically to a Washington, D.C., icon as a demonstration of the issue, saying, “The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been—Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future.”

James Comey betrayed the trust of the American people as Director of the FBI, and did damage to that organization from which it may never recover. From the very beginning of the first Trump administration, Comey tried to undermine and ultimately destroy Trump’s power to govern. To his everlasting shame, Comey collaborated in publicizing the Steele “dossier,” which he and everyone else knew to be complete fiction. He did this out of political malice. Now, Comey is under investigation by the Department of Justice. He lied, without a doubt. He helped to perpetrate the Russia Collusion Hoax. He betrayed his office by misusing the power of the FBI to advance partisan

If you need a laugh, try to imagine Joe Biden or any recent president holding court in the way Donald Trump is doing it. To double the laugh, try to imagine any of the current presidential wannabes sitting in the big chair in the Oval Office. It’s an impossible exercise because of how dramatically Trump is redefining what it means to be president of the United States. His talents are vast and uniquely suited to the role he has created. For the most recent and dramatic example, take Monday’s historic meeting of European leaders about Russia’s unrelenting invasion of Ukraine.

As Muslim migration roils Europe, some Catholic bishops are starting to notice. “For decades, the Islamization of Europe has been progressing through mass immigration,” Polish Bishop Antoni Długosz said July 13, adding that illegal immigrants “create serious problems in the countries they arrive in.” Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan spoke more bluntly in March: “We’re witnessing an invasion. They are not refugees. This is an invasion, a mass Islamization of Europe.” Yet Pope Leo XIV lives in a different dimension. “In a world darkened by war and injustice . . . migrants and refugees stand as messengers of hope,” Leo said July 25.

The rural Kentucky judge gunned down in his own chambers last year ran a twisted sex ring in which young women were coaxed into performing sexual favors just to get out of trouble, one of the alleged victims claims. Tya Adams alleges she was among those caught up in Judge Kevin Mullins’ apparent sex-for-favors scheme that saw him and others in the tiny town of Whitesburg demand sex in exchange for cash, or to get offenders off the hook. Adams told NewsNation’s “Banfield” that Mullins — who was shot execution-style in his Letcher County chambers, allegedly by his longtime sheriff pal Shawn Stines, last September —
Texas Finally Passes New Congressional Maps 11 replies

It’s over. Texas has a new congressional map for the 2026 midterms, though it took over two weeks after state Democrats unnecessarily fled to prevent a quorum. The new map gives Republicans five winnable seats, all majority Hispanic districts. Democrats could’ve said, ‘ok, let’s fight for these voters who are gettable,’ but they decided to make a hash out of it. First, the messaging was abysmal, coupled with the fact that no one cared. Even the legacy press said these Texas Democrats ran away. They were off message from the get-go.
