Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is once again rejecting any consideration for President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss terms for a ceasefire without his involvement. [Snip] Zelenskyy reacted, carrying the message from the global intelligence community who support the ongoing conflict,... Zelenskyy has banned opposition parties in Ukraine, taken control of media, targeted religious groups who he claims are subversive to his interests and cancelled elections in order to remain in power. Now Zelenskyy hides behind the claim of a constitution his regime modified in order to ensure he alone controls the pathways to peace.

Comments:

Sundance has posted a special “photo” that may be intended to reflect Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s reaction to “USA and Russia determining the outcome for Ukraine.”

IMO there has to be some representation from some authority in Ukraine before any peace can be assured. My question is : is Zelensky, the little two-bit self-made dictator the proper authority to negotiate that settlement. We do not know what the Ukrainian people want since he has virtually and actually taken complete charge of their Government. No elections and arrests of anyone that speaks out.

I think Putin and Trump will propose a permanent cease fire and political division exactly where the front lines are today and then tell Z and Ukraine to take the deal or leave it. But if they reject it we will not give them additional support in any fighting. If they accept we will give them - UK - very favorable terms for trade and reconstruction and support in other arenas. There are no rules. And there is no winning for everyone on every single issue.

Z is not a good leader. That being said, I can understand his reluctance to give Putin part of Ukraine. Talk about being rewarded for bad behavior. Unfortunately, since no other country is willing to give Ukraine troops to fight this battle, he has no leverage over this situation. Either give up land and have a US enforced peace, or tell Putin to go to hell and lose the bigger battle.

Zelenskyy apparently puts more value on dirt and his big ego than he does the lives of thousands of Ukrainian people. Both the UN and NATO have some blame in this conflict and have shown us what worthless organizations that they are. Maybe Zelenskyy realizes that his life is not worth two rubles once the war is over. He is just as likely to be taken out by one of his own as by the Russians.

When they turned their backs on Haile Selassie and refused to stop the Italian army invasion of Ethiopia they emboldened another dictator to launch a war of world conquest. Do you think there is a comparison of Italy/Ethiopia and Ukraine/China and UN/League of Nations ? We’ve known for years that the Covid-19 vaccines left many Americans seriously injured. Yet despite this common knowledge, the federal government’s surveillance to ensure vaccine safety has been substandard, to put it charitably. Worse, its performance in compensating those injured by the vaccine has been pathetic. Now, Congress is finally paying attention to America’s vaccine woes. [Snip] The sheer number of reported adverse events from the Covid-19 vaccine (over 1.8 million) dwarfs all previously reported vaccine injuries. But because it is a “passive” reporting system, largely based on patient self-reporting, VAERS is unable to show a causal relationship between a specific vaccine injection and a particular adverse reaction.

In the charred aftermath of Malibu’s January wildfires, one buyer has been moving in silence. While much of La Costa Beach remains a barren stretch of sand, a foreign investor has quietly acquired nine oceanfront lots — spending more than $65 million to secure some of the most coveted parcels along the Pacific Coast Highway, according to Realtor.com. Working through luxury agents Weston Littlefield and Alex Howe of the Weston James Group, the buyer is targeting properties with at least 40 feet of frontage, betting that once the coastline is rebuilt, demand from wealthy buyers will return in force.
