What Moment in Time Did the Shroud of
Turin Actually Capture?

Original Article

The discovery of artifacts can change modern perspectives of ancient times. [Snip] The 14-foot-long Shroud of Turin is believed by many to be the actual burial cloth placed over Jesus after His crucifixion. An easily discernible image of the Son of God is seen on it--one that, despite today’s technological advances, still remains impossible to replicate. [Snip] While the image does not portray a supine Jesus, nor does it show Him standing or resting upon anything but, rather, “floating.” This begs the question why would He appear to be suspended in mid-air--unless it was the moment of the resurrection that was captured on the fabric.

Comments:

Whether the image is authentic or not, it has been said, “And in hearing His Word, we see Him.” Indeed, for certain, people of faith “see Him” through His Word.

The pollen, dirt and other details would be impossible for a European faker to replicate. I think that the image is proof of the resurrection, given to us to permit us to look, measure, examine and if our minds are open....believe. I believe it.

I tend to believe that the Shroud of Turin is authentic. For a long time, I thought that the Carbon Dating showed it to be newer than 2000 years old, but the carbon dating was done on the repaired section, which had newer cloth. However, for those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who would not believe, no proof is sufficient. St. Augustine (?)

If it's a forgery it's a very good forgery. We know the shroud has been around at least since the 14th century. It's not understood how the imagine would have been created and endured for nearly 700 years.

I prefer to believe it's real. I don't understand why someone would try or even have the means to produce something like the Shroud millennia ago. Furthermore, I also prefer to ascribe to Pascal's Wager. What do you have to lose?

The discovery of pollens from the region where the crucifixion took place is interesting validation for it being genuine. However, I didn’t see any explanation for the body floating as opposed to standing. Either way, it doesn’t affect the validity of the shroud, it is just an observation.

Still flabbergasted over being defunded by Congress, board members of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) cried, lied, and quoted Shakespeare during their melodramatic July 24 board meeting. On August 1, the board announced it is starting an “orderly wind-down of its operations,” and most of the CPB staff positions “will conclude with the close of the fiscal year on September 30, 2025.” You would cry too, if you were losing a compensation package bigger than the salary of the president of the United States. In 2022, CPB CEO Patricia Harrison’s compensation was $524,000, according to the CPB’ most recently available 990 tax exempt form.

While some headlines fret over a weak jobs report, Marlin Steel CEO Drew Greenblatt sees something else entirely--a once-in-a-generation boom in American manufacturing that the media is missing. "This is a re-industrialization of America. This is a fabulous, optimistic time," Greenblatt told Fox & Friends Weekend on Sunday. "[And] the mainstream media is missing what's happening. It's such an optimistic, good time for a factory worker, and these are good jobs… we need more of these jobs in our country," he continued, tying the outcomes to President Donald Trump's tariff structure, which he sees as reversing the long-standing trend of foreign dumping and offshoring.

A gerrymandered map proposed by the Texas GOP would kick firebrand Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett out of her own district and likely add more House seats to the Lone Star's Republican delegation. Last week, Texas House Republicans introduced a redistricting proposal that could net five new GOP seats. The draft congressional map, which is likely to change before approval by both state legislative chambers, aims to redraw district lines to include more Republican-leaning areas in Democratic strongholds like Dallas and Houston. Crockett, who serves Texas’ 30th Congressional District, which represents a large part of Dallas, has called the redistricting effort "a power grab to silence voters."

Recently, a large group of black youths began pummeling white adults in downtown Cincinnati. The original altercation apparently broke out between a black and white male in he-said/he-said fashion. But that dispute soon turned into a virtual free-for-all. Numerous male and female black youths sucker-punched a middle-aged woman. Others continued to kick or body slam the victims. There were many disturbing aspects to the beat-downs. One, the violence broke out along racial and age fault lines. After the initial dispute, groups of black youths swarmed solitary older white bystanders to pound them. Two, the surrounding assembled group of black youths not only failed to intervene to restrain the bullies.

As expected, Texas Democratic legislators have fled the state to deny a quorum for Gov. Greg Abbott's redistricting push. Given what we saw when they did this in 2021, denying a quorum for an election reform vote, there is no doubt a lot of grandstanding, dramatics, and cringe singing on the way.
