OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Wednesday marked 80 years since the United States attacked Hiroshima, Japan with an atomic bomb. One group gathered in Oak Ridge at the main entrance of the Y-12 National Security Complex to remember the victims and destruction of that bombing.
The Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance gathered before sunrise on Wednesday, in a similar manner that it has for the last 20 years, for a remembrance ceremony. The ceremony included a reading of the names of the victims killed in the bombing, bell ringing, and hanging paper cranes. There was also a time when accounts from those who witnessed the account were read.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he will impose a 100% tariff on imports of semiconductors and chips, but not for companies that are “building in the United States.”
The announcement of new sector-specific tariffs shows Trump ratcheting up his efforts to pressure businesses to manufacture their products in the U.S.
But specifics about the plan, such as how much U.S. manufacturing a company needs to do in order to qualify for the tariff exemption, were not immediately clear.
“We’re going to be putting a very large tariff on chips and semiconductors,” Trump said in the Oval Office on Wednesday afternoon.

The University of California is discriminating against students who are undocumented immigrants by refusing to hire most of them for campus jobs unless they have work authorization from the federal government, a state appeals court ruled Tuesday.
UC offers employment to the small number of immigrants known as Deferred Access to Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. But the university has a longstanding policy of denying jobs to other undocumented migrants who lack federal work permits, saying it is unwilling to risk potentially costly legal actions by U.S. officials. On Tuesday, the court said UC’s policy “discriminates based on immigration status” and may violate California’s employment law.

An Arizona state senator bragged about putting ICE agents in danger and brazenly defied the Trump administration.
Arizona Sen. Analise Ortiz (D-24) is now facing an ethics complaint after Libs of TikTok shared the state senator’s post alerting people to the whereabouts of ICE agents. This not only probably violates federal law, but it also puts ICE agents in danger at a time when violent activists are likely to impede or even assault them. Yet Ortiz sneeringly and proudly owned up to her efforts on Bluesky.
Yesterday, Libs of TikTok shared a screenshot from Ortiz‘s Instagram feed showing the politician providing a live update on the whereabouts of ICE agents.

Neither belligerent has confirmed plans for any meeting, but Ukraine has been seeking a face-to-face with Putin for months.

Britain’s Labour government is in trouble: Its program of massive third-world immigration from places like Pakistan and Somalia is wildly, overwhelmingly unpopular.
But that’s not the real problem.
The real problem is that despite the best efforts of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his leftist captive media, Britons themselves have discovered just how unpopular it is.
You might think that’s absurd — if mass immigration is unpopular, how can everyone not know it?
Everyone doesn’t know it because the government has been policing speech about immigration.

German finance minister Lars Klingbeil wrapped up his visit to Washington last week. His meeting with U.S. treasury secretary Scott Bessent centered on the EU-US trade deal. A dose of European moralism, of course, wasn’t missing.
It was a meeting of political opposites. On one side: Scott Bessent, Wall Street veteran and committed to cutting America’s debt through radical fiscal consolidation, deregulation, tax cuts, and shrinking the role of the state. On the other: Lars Klingbeil, steward of the largest debt program in German history, embracing state intervention as economic salvation.

Let’s take a tour of the 13th congressional district in Illinois.
It starts in East St. Louis and then moves steadily north.
By the time it gets to Springfield, home of Abraham Lincoln, about 90 miles away, it takes a sharp turn to the east, reaching Decatur and finally Champaign, itself about 80 miles away from Springfield. It’s a jagged, narrow strip of territory with no obvious rhyme or reason as it traverses six counties. It’s less a congressional district than a road trip, and bears a resemblance to the original gerrymander, a long, salamander-like state Senate district in Massachusetts in 1812.

Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff (CA) is under federal criminal investigation for alleged mortgage fraud, as prosecutors examine claims that he repeatedly misrepresented his primary residence on federally backed mortgage applications.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland revealed it is actively pursuing a criminal investigation into possible mortgage fraud. This development follows a recent criminal referral from the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to the Department of Justice, which accuses Schiff of repeatedly falsifying bank paperwork and property records to secure more favorable loan terms.
Between 2009 and 2020, Schiff is alleged to have listed a Maryland property as his primary residence,

JPMorgan and Bank of America “debanked” President Trump for his role in the January 6 Capitol Hill melee following pressure from the Biden administration’s banking regulators and the Federal Reserve, people with direct knowledge of the matter tell The Post.
The exact reason for Trump and his tens of millions of dollars in holdings being kicked off the JPMorgan banking platform, and then denied access to Bank of America’s services has yet to be reported.
But sources at the banks — the No. 1 and No. 2 largest in the US in terms of assets — confirmed the cause stemmed from the controversy surrounding Trump’s actions that day, and threats

Sen. Adam Schiff, the man who never missed a chance to lecture America about ethics and accountability, is now the focus of a full-blown federal criminal investigation.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland, hardly a bastion of right-wing activism, revealed it is actively pursuing Schiff for alleged mortgage fraud. This isn’t some garden-variety political dustup—Schiff faces accusations that he repeatedly lied about his primary residence on federally backed mortgage applications spanning over a decade, from 2009 through 2020. While representing California in Congress, Schiff allegedly listed a Maryland property as his primary address to secure more favorable terms on his loans. Simultaneously,

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is preparing to vacate the seats of the Democratic Party state lawmakers who fled to stop redistricting.
As RedState reported, the left-wing legislators boarded private jets and flew off to Illinois and New York as a way to deny a quorum to Texas Republicans, which is required to pass the new congressional map. Arrest warrants have since been passed and ordered enforced by Gov. Gregg Abbott (R-TX), a provision allowed under the state's constitution to combat this type of gamesmanship.
According to Paxton, the next shoe is getting ready to drop. If the derelict Democrats don't return by Friday,

Recall this old joke? A man who asks a pretty woman if she would sleep with him for a million dollars, and she gives an enthusiastic yes. He then pulls $100 out of his wallet, and she takes offense, saying, "What do you think I am?" The man replies, "We've already established that. Now we're just negotiating the price."
Harvard has taken equal offense at negotiations over price. Last week, the New York Times reported that Harvard might be willing to settle their dispute with the Trump administration for $500 million, but only if all the federal funding was restored and the Department of Education

It's becoming a trend among Democrats.
As immigrants from third-world countries have started getting elected in the woke areas, they freely admit that their political priorities are not about improving America, but instead are focused on their fellow countrymen in this and their home countries.
Ilhan Omar regularly speaks in Somali to transplanted Somali migrants. Omar Fateh, the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (Minnesota Democrats) candidate for Minneapolis Mayor, declared his allegiance to Somalia and Somalis, and now Representative Delia Ramirez of Illinois declares that she is a Guatemalan before she is American.

President Trump early Tuesday touted an appeals court ruling upholding Texas’s requirement that voters to provide a driver’s license or other identification number for their mail ballot to be counted.
“THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!! Should be Nationwide!!! President DJT” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
A three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit unanimously ruled on Monday the requirement does not violate a provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prevents states from denying a person’s right to vote over paperwork errors that are not “material.”

Actor Charlie Sheen donated to a fundraiser for the Ohio woman who was beaten by a mob in Cincinnati, and praised Republican U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno and podcaster Benny Johnson for setting it up.
The Republican U.S. Senator from Ohio and the conservative influencer Benny Johnson started a GiveSendGo donation page for the woman going only by the name “Holly” in public. There is an apocryphal story in military circles that supposedly comes out of North Africa during World War 2. A British Colonel, strolling the docks, is fascinated by the steady stream of American ships unloading: Artillery shells, tanks, trucks, guns, rifle ammo, gasoline, guns, K-rations, medical supplies, fighter aircraft, guns, anti-tank mines, guns, and more guns. American industrial might was well and truly on display, the United States having turned our massive industrial plant to a full war footing. The British Colonel is said to have remarked, "The Americans don't so much solve their problems as overwhelm them."
That was then. This is now. And, thanks to years of shipping munitions

Crime, particularly robberies/home invasions, in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley is out of control right now, despite voters giving Soros DA George Gascon the heave-ho and passing a ballot initiative to roll back many soft-on-crime Prop 47 provisions. In the last few months, at least four people have been killed in their homes by intruders - and that's just the number I can think of off the top of my head. Residents are furious and so loud about their displeasure that even Mayor Karen Bass is starting to acknowledge their concerns. (Whether anything will actually happen, though, is another matter.
And now, quite a few residents are adding firearms
