The Dutch Defense Ministry announced that it would make the first purchase of US weapons for Ukraine under a new NATO mechanism.
The scheme is for NATO allies to fund US defense systems and munitions that would then be shipped to Ukraine.
Other NATO allies had pledged to join the initiative, but the Netherlands is the first to announce transferring funds.
The announcement comes as Russia continues to attack Ukraine. At least three people were reportedly killed in strikes in Ukraine's east on Tuesday.

A Federal Reserve governor, Adriana Kuegler, just announced her resignation today, effective August 8.
I believe President Trump can actually name his own governor to replace her — and then appoint that person as chairman of the Fed. Subject to Senate confirmation. There are rumors that another Fed governor — Michael Barr — is about to resign, giving Mr. Trump another option.

Predictably, the New York Times pooh-poohed the release of the classified annex to the Durham report. Charlie Savage wrote:

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Wednesday marked 80 years since the United States attacked Hiroshima, Japan with an atomic bomb. One group gathered in Oak Ridge at the main entrance of the Y-12 National Security Complex to remember the victims and destruction of that bombing.
The Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance gathered before sunrise on Wednesday, in a similar manner that it has for the last 20 years, for a remembrance ceremony. A 19-year-old former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer was beaten and bloodied by a mob of 10 minors early Sunday morning as he thwarted a carjacking attempt in the nation’s capital, according to DC police.
Edward Coristine, whose LinkedIn handle earned him the nickname “Big Balls” at DOGE, was with a woman near downtown DC when he saw the group of juveniles approach their car and “make a comment about taking the vehicle,” according to a Metropolitan Police Department incident report obtained by The Post.

An Australian state has asked citizens to surrender machetes at disposal bins ahead of a statewide ban on the weapons aimed at combating knife crime.
Australia’s state of Victoria on Thursday announced that more than 40 machete disposal bins will be available at police stations across the state to allow citizens to safely get rid of the weapons without a penalty before the Sept. 1 ban begins.
"Owning, carrying, using, buying, or selling a machete without a valid exemption or approval will be a criminal offense," the Victorian government said in a statement.

The man who once led the now-discredited “Russiagate” investigation may no longer be mentally competent to testify, according to new reports.
Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations reported Tuesday that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller has lived in a memory-care facility “for the past few years.”
Sperry wrote on X, “NEW: House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Robert Mueller to appear for a Sept. 2 deposition to provide details from an FBI investigation of Jeffrey Epstein from decades ago — even though sources tell me Mueller has been living in a memory-care facility for the past few years.”

California and New York are signaling they will move forward with plans to redraw congressional lines as Democrats look to counter the Texas GOP.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said Monday that Democrats are pursuing a plan to put mid-decade redistricting before voters, which could be “triggered” by what happens in Texas. And New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), appearing alongside Texas Democrats who fled to her state over the proposed maps Monday, embraced exploring “every option” to redraw congressional lines.

Since Donald Trump has begun the push to deport illegal aliens, we’ve seen stories about families being broken up, and people losing their homes or being deported without having been arrested for crimes other than illegal entry.
