There is an apocryphal story in military circles that supposedly comes out of North Africa during World War 2. A British Colonel, strolling the docks, is fascinated by the steady stream of American ships unloading: Artillery shells, tanks, trucks, guns, rifle ammo, gasoline, guns, K-rations, medical supplies, fighter aircraft, guns, anti-tank mines, guns, and more guns. American industrial might was well and truly on display, the United States having turned our massive industrial plant to a full war footing. The British Colonel is said to have remarked, "The Americans don't so much solve their problems as overwhelm them."
That was then. This is now. And, thanks to years of shipping munitions

The root problem is that the Dems closed down essentially all our ammunition factories, leaving only a bare, bare bones capability that could just keep up with peacetime training requirements, and had no ability to "surge" for any heavy use.
It takes YEARS, even with huge investment of money to rebuild an artillery shell, or artillery barrel manufacturing capability. We had about 25 or so small arms ammo factories all around the country in WW2, and today we have ONE, the only partially utilized Lake City Arsenal on the east side of the KC area. I have bought 'surplus' ammo from this factory for my rifles over the years, but for quite some time due to our wars, no extra small arms ammo has been available. Heck, there is darned near no gunpowder or primers available to even reload our own ammunition if we have our own brass cases and cast our own bullets.
The government, as usual, has shut down everything and left the cupboards bare of manufacturing capability. And the good news is that the Ukraine war has been a wakeup call to the USA and to Europe to rebuild our capacity to make powder, artillery barrels and artillery shells, plus high explosives - all which have been, by the USA and Europe, let just rust away and be shut down.

There' was a War in the Pacific corollary to the story about the British colonel's remark regarding our ability to simply overwhelm our problems. A Japanese infantry officer was once said to have remarked regarding our amphibious landings that (paraphrasing) "Americans were not particularly good jungle fighters but it didn't matter, because by the time they came ashore there wasn't any jungle left."

There are warehouses full of small arms ammo in South Korea that we sold them and they want to sell back to us. Granted, the calibers are obsolete .30/06, .45 ACP and .30 Carbine. If we could get that surplus ammo cheap I would gladly shoot my Garands and 1911s rather than the .223s and 9mms. Problem is, no president has allowed the reimportation.

OK, so the democrats are either super stupid, or they did it on purpose (treason). I honestly don't know if it's one or the other or both. Either way they cannot be trusted.

What the military does not have, American patriots have in plenty although we have overpaid for it over the past ten years. Now that we have the B-2 and other advanced bombers, we have a great advantage over those who think about causing us harm. There was a report a few years back that Russian nukes were rusting all over the country in flooded silos and China has less warfighting capability than they claim. I'm not worried.

Other WW2 examples.
How many aircraft carriers did we have at the end of WW2" about 110, with 24 fast, big attack carriers, a dozen or so fast, slightly smaller carriers and about 60 or 70 smaller, slower escort carriers to support landings and deliver replacement aircraft to the bigger carriers.
How many cargo ships did we build in WW2? We built 2,710 of them, eventually finishing about two in three days.
How many aircraft did we build? About 350,000 in total.

We’ve been here before, and always under Democrat administrations. My service time was under Gerald Ford then Jimmy Carter, and it got so bad under the latter that we were seriously limited on ammunition at a time that we were preparing to become a “red alert unit,” able to be on the way to any part of the world within 24 hours. In fact it was a Ranger unit that provided area security for Delta Force in Iran during that infamous failed hostage rescue mission. It should never again get to this point where soldiers are counting rounds and facing limitations on the number of magazines they’re allowed to carry into battle.
