The FBI began surveilling a Catholic priest in 2023 after the clergyman refused to divulge details about a recently arrested parishioner who was converting to Catholicism and seeking spiritual guidance.
The FBI’s Richmond Field Office, the same branch responsible for producing an anti-Catholic memo that was quickly retracted, tracked the priest’s movements and coordinated with several other FBI offices and a foreign law enforcement agency to gather intelligence on the clergyman and his priestly organization, according to a new House Judiciary Committee report obtained by National Review.

The Democratic Party’s attempt to “resist” President Donald Trump is backfiring, the latest I&I/TIPP poll shows. A plurality of American adults now believe the one-time party of the center has gone too far to the left.
Voters who responded to the online national poll of 1,421 adults, taken from June 25 to June 27, were asked the following question: “Do you think the Democratic Party has become too radical in its views and policies?”
A strong plurality of 45% of all poll respondents said yes, while 36% said no and another 18% said they weren’t sure. The poll’s margin of error is +/-2.7 percentage points.

On July 13, 2024, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, before witnesses and unimpeded by law enforcement, climbed onto the roof of the American Glass Research (AGR) building at the Butler Farm Show. He was 441 feet away from the stage on which candidate Donald Trump was addressing 15,000 enthusiastic supporters. . . .These parallel reports set forth a detailed narrative of official mismanagement, disorder, incompetence, and inexplicable failures that converged to afford Crooks the clear and readily preventable opportunity to murder Trump.

Barack Obama has broken his silence on calls from Donald Trump for him to be prosecuted by unequivocally rejecting his successor’s accusations that he tried to engineer a “coup” following Trump’s 2016 election victory by “manufacturing” evidence of Russian interference.
Obama’s office took the unusual step of issuing an emphatic refutation after Trump told reporters that his predecessor had “[tried] to lead a coup” against him and was guilty of “treason” over intelligence assessments suggesting that Russia had intervened to help Trump defeat Hillary Clinton in the campaign.

The climate alarmists regularly seize on weather events they believe will help them exploit their narrative. Naturally, they ignore contradictory information. So we see it as our duty to fill in the gaps from time to time. Following are a few examples that show why the global warming story is less scientific theory than conjecture in the service of a political agenda.
Let’s begin in the West Arctic, where the Northwest Passage is experiencing its third-highest level of sea ice extent in the last two decades. In 2009, Al Gore said, with his usual galling listen-to-me certainty,

There is no evidence... that Jews were behind the alleged arson. [US Ambassador to Israel Mike] Huckabee should be commended for understanding that the Palestinians had lied to him when they claimed that Jews were behind the arson.
"In recent days, a despicable and false blood libel has been raging around the world against the settlements, reminiscent of dark periods in Europe, and it has so far managed to deceive quite a few lovers of Israel in the US... No 'nationalist crime' event by Jews was carried out, no church was set on fire, and no cemetery was desecrated. Exactly the opposite

Among the climatically correct, nothing is more scandalous than describing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions as beneficial. You can be blacklisted from public forums, professional networking sites, and even be removed from your tenured university position as an accomplished scientist.
Nonetheless, the truth is this: CO2 is fundamental to the photosynthetic process by which plants make food for themselves -- and ultimately for us. Furthermore, the increase in atmospheric CO2 from industrial activity in the past century has helped vegetation over most of the planet to flourish. Also benefiting plants has been the relative warmth of recent decades.

President Trump appropriated the phrase “fake news” and applied it to dishonest media (print, networks, websites, podcasts, etc.).
Most fake news isn’t incorrect facts or flat-out lies; that’s way too obvious and easy to prove wrong. Instead, most fake news is done by omission — telling part of the story so the reader comes to a different conclusion or completely omitting the story so the reader has no idea that it ever happened. A great example of fake news by omission was during the 2020 election cycle, when most “mainstream” media refused to report on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

President Donald Trump made news on Tuesday night when he announced a historic trade deal with Japan, which followed news earlier in the day of a deal with Indonesia.Speaking to congressional Republicans at an event in the East Room at the White House, President Trump announced that he had just "signed the largest trade deal in history" with Japan."I think maybe the largest deal in history. They had their top people here, and we worked on it long and hard. And it's a great deal for everybody," Trump said, noting that there was "a lot of money" flowing into the U.S.

The Trump administration has been pursuing, on two fronts, the critical objective of fixing America's broken education system.
One, an executive order by President Donald Trump, issued shortly after he assumed office, is to dismantle the Department of Education. Outright closing of the department is only possible by an act of Congress. However, the president is moving to accomplish the same objective administratively by closing down offices and major staff elimination. The Supreme Court recently upheld the president's authority to do this.

We thought it was a betrayal of Los Angeles fire victims that the local government slow-rolled the building permit process to wait out property owners so the state could replace their homes with "low-income" apartments. It turns out, however, that the betrayal has just gotten worse.
We learn this week, thanks to the great work of a lone reporter at a small Southern California publication called Circling the News, that a whopping $100 million donated to help fire victims isn't making its way to actual fire victims.

Barack Obama’s team is in full damage control mode after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified and released evidence that Obama and his top officials in his administration knowingly fabricated intelligence to push the false narrative that Trump was compromised by Russia—an operation designed to delegitimize his election and kneecap his ability to govern. On Tuesday, Barack Obama released a statement through a spokesman in response to the recent release of Russiagate documents implicating the former president in the effort to delegitimize Trump’s presidency.

As RedState reported, the judges of the U.S. District Court in New Jersey voted to oust Alina Habba from her role as the top federal prosecutor in the state. That came after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) publicly demanded the move, claiming she was a "woefully unqualified political hack," leading the Department of Justice to decry what they saw as a politically motivated decision.Because Habba has not been confirmed by the U.S. Senate, her appointment had a 120-day expiration, with the district court judges in question having the ability to keep her in the position. Instead, they refused and hand-selected her replacement, Desiree Grace,

There was a theme to the Obama years: say one thing, mean another, and spin it all as “historic.” This week, Barack Obama trotted out that same tired formula—this time in response to the bombshell DNI report declassified last Friday. His statement? “Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes.”
Cute. But irrelevant.
Because no one—certainly not the DNI—claimed Russia manipulated votes. That’s not the point. The actual claim from the Director of National Intelligence—now Tulsi Gabbard—is that Obama-era officials manufactured a narrative, suppressed contradictory intelligence,

15 months. That is how much time we have left until Arizona can elect a new governor, and it couldn’t come soon enough.
Since taking office in 2023, Katie Hobbs has been a complete disaster. The heights of her corruption have certainly been well documented. From her illegal use of public resources to solicit money for her inauguration, to an alleged pay-to-play schemebetween Hobbs and an Arizona group home that donated to her inauguration, to shelling out $700,000 to a company owned by the brother of the now-former Office of Tourism Director to create a new state logo,

Less than a month after Donald Trump’s intervention against the Iranian nuclear program illustrated the depth of the de facto U.S.-Israel alliance, the administration has reportedly become frustrated with its counterparts in Jerusalem.
Axios reporter Barak Ravid recently revealed that Trump’s aides and perhaps even Trump himself (Ravid could not confirm as much) have been aggravated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued prosecution of the conflicts around Israel’s borders, particularly last week’s strikes on targets inside Syria.
One unnamed Trump official said Netanyahu’s “trigger finger is too itchy.” Another called the prime minister a “madman” who “bombs everything all the time.” ...

As Jim Geraghty, Noah Rothman, Charlie Cooke, and Jeff Blehar have detailed at length, there were ample reasons for CBS to pull the plug on Stephen Colbert’s tenure as host of The Late Show, and to go a step further and kill the program. Those reasons were commercial (Colbert was losing the network some $40 million a year, his still-substantial audience was a fraction of what he used to draw, and its average age of 68 made it an undesirable market for advertisers), artistic (the shrill, one-note politics and parade of partisan guests),

US Attorney General Pam Bondi promptly fired Alina Habba’s replacement after a group of district court judges voted to oust Habba as interim US Attorney of New Jersey.
A group of federal judges on Tuesday declined to extend Alina Habba’s term as interim US Attorney of New Jersey after Democrat Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries launched a pressure campaign to oust her.
Alina Habba’s term as interim US Attorney expires on Friday at 11:59 pm.
Hakeem Jeffries called on federal district court judges appointed by Obama and Biden to remove Alina Habba over her decision to indict Rep. LaMonica McIver.

The Standard Chartered Bank sanctions evasion case, now in court in the US Second Circuit, found at least $9.6 billion of illegal payments by the bank to Iranian and Hezbollah entities.
The case implicates NYAG Letitia James and the Federal Reserve for ignoring billions of these illicit payments and ignoring Treasury sanctions designations. Maximum Pressure is not being enforced because of the failures of the Fed and the NYAG.
At least $9.6 billion of specifically identified illicit payments were made by SCB from its NYC branch to OFAC and known terrorist names.

Recently Al Qaeda/ISIS took over Syria. This development was greeted with cheers from world leaders who had been working toward this very goal from the Arab Spring days. Now, they assured us, Syria would become a democratic paradise full of human rights.
Three lessons here.
1. Letting Turkey put Al Qaeda in charge of Syria was a bad idea.
2. This is the Islamic norm. And anywhere they take power, this is what will happen to non-Muslims. Let's not let it happen to us.
3. When Israel prevents a genocide, it's accused of genocide.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) quietly updated its eligibility rules to prevent men from participating on women’s teams, in compliance with an executive order from President Donald Trump.
The committee changed the rule on Monday, amending its “Athlete Safety Policy” to imply that males will be prevented from participating in women’s divisions. The document did not use the word “transgender” in any of its 27 pages.
“The USOPC will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders with oversight responsibilities, e.g., IOC, IPC, NGBs, to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment consistent with Executive Order 14201,” the updated version said.

An appellate court ruled the Trump administration can move forward with ending temporary deportation protections for thousands of Afghan and Cameroonian nationals.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is allowed to end the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for roughly 10,000 Afghans and Cameroonians while a court challenge against the move continues to play out in court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday. The court determined that while CASA — an immigration advocacy group suing DHS — has a plausible case, there is not enough evidence to block the TPS phaseout while the court challenge continues.

President Trump announced Tuesday that his administration had wrapped up a massive trade agreement with Japan, two weeks after threatening the US ally with 25% tariffs
“We just completed a massive Deal with Japan, perhaps the largest Deal ever made. Japan will invest, at my direction, $550 Billion Dollars into the United States, which will receive 90% of the Profits,” Trump, 79, wrote on Truth Social.
“Perhaps most importantly, Japan will open their Country to Trade including Cars and Trucks, Rice and certain other Agricultural Products, and other things. Japan will pay Reciprocal Tariffs to the United States of 15%.”
