Barack Obama has broken his silence on calls from Donald Trump for him to be prosecuted by unequivocally rejecting his successor’s accusations that he tried to engineer a “coup” following Trump’s 2016 election victory by “manufacturing” evidence of Russian interference.
Obama’s office took the unusual step of issuing an emphatic refutation after Trump told reporters that his predecessor had “[tried] to lead a coup” against him and was guilty of “treason” over intelligence assessments suggesting that Russia had intervened to help Trump defeat Hillary Clinton in the campaign.

Obama was a flop as our first black president and set race relations back by decades but according to Leftists it is some sort of sacrilege to dare to criticize him. Was he a mere innocent during the Russia hoax? It’s possible but I do remember the merciless unrelenting dog pack approach of the press towards Nixon. But any scrutiny is anathema when the transgressor is a leftist, a Democrat and Negro. To me that proves that liberal Americans were and are not ready to deal with a black person as president in a mature manner.

But, on the other hand, we're no longer posting Maureen Dowd, so....

"Out of respect for the office of the Presidency"?? That office has been sullied like nothing else by the sheer act of the Kenyan's taking the oath.

He conspired with elements of the intelligence services to interfere with an election and then when that did not work, he engaged in sedition to undermine the incoming President with false accusations and a sham investigation. If there are no consequences for this, then this country owes a big apology to Richard Nixon. The Watergate burglars were freelancers being paid by the RNC, not Federal employees being paid by taxpayers.

It will be interesting to see this play out and THAT is where a response to BO's blather will be found. I have little hope, due to presidential immunity, that BO will pay a price for what he did beyond the further destruction of his reputation. I would be nice to see some of the others face criminal charges and get some jail time.

That’s so outrageous about Trump’s comment as Obama and his leftist progressive and socialist crew would have certainly persecuted Trump if they could have got away with doing that, regardless of the law!

From the article: "Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” the statement said. “But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction."
Respect for the office? It is just a building. How about respect for your opponent? That is where Obama has a problem. When he ran for the Illinois seat, wa-la, he is able to open his opponent's sealed records. No respect for his opponent that those divorce records were a very painful time in his opponent's life. Anything to win. His treatment of Sarah Palin in the 2008 campaign was disgusting. Anything to win. As #1 posts, Barack Obama has respect for nothing. Only himself.

Why shouldn't Obama be prosecuted? What is this bull that a former President cannot be prosecuted, and has immunity? Trump was prosecuted and persecuted his entire term of office, and ever since.

Of course he denies it. What else can he do ?
That doesn't mean he isn.t guilty.
Wasn't it nice before Trump lawfare when a President left office they were not bothered with facing trials for their actions?
But along came the Democrats and opened the Pandora's box of lawfare against a former President.
Now it's open season.

"Liberals" (the least liberal, especially when in power) have no good ideas -- only their use of words, words, words. Using this subject as an opportunity to claim their own wonderfulness -- and get contributions -- is just so "liberal." The Guardian is disgusting.

The proper charge would probably be sedition rather than treason. I spent a bit of time looking at the legal definitions and sedition is a better fit.
