Trump and Musk have discovered the powers controlling Washington are much harder to beat than they realized. What do they do? They blame each other when they should be regrouping. I'm sure Trump and Musk are always accustomed to having everything their way, but they are likely dealing with a crowd that is more powerful than they are. Didn't they see that coming? This crowd has had their hooks in Washington probably going back over a century. They know how to suck the air out of a room, so the only people left standing are their people. They control elections and can steal them if they have to. Trump and Musk have a huge hill to climb and Washington controls all the routes up the hill. Maybe, just maybe, Trump and Musk should stick together. Musk should not be walking away at this point. He has too much to lose. Same goes for Trump, btw.

FTA: The left hates Trump and Musk about equally. I'd like to see the statistics that corroborate that claim and especially any data about the LENGTH of the respective hatreds. The left has despised Trump FOREVER. They hate Musk BECAUSE he joined forces with Trump. BEFORE that; Musk was a hero. The ones playing fast and loose with data seem to be the I&I Editorial Board. How can I believe their idea about 5D chess if I can't believe the data they use for their premise?

If Trump was a normal well adjusted person, he would have said that he was grateful for Musk's help in getting elected and identifying government waste and fraud. He would have said that he disagreed with Musk on this matter and left it at that. Trump can't work that way. He has to viciously attack anyone who speaks against him. That is not what normal well adjusted people do. I voted for Trump twice because the alternative was awful. I am not a fan of his immaturity in relationships. He thinks because Putin and Kim Jung Un talked to him nicely they were now friends. Trump doesn't seem to understand that there are evil people in the world and they will be nice to you one minute and stab you in the back the next if it will get them what they want. The world is not a business negotiation.

It would be nice to think so. I have my serious doubts, but we'll see. At least Trump is no George W. Bush. I remember during the W years we'd see all these naive delusional posts to the effect that W was "playing 3D chess" with the Democrats. Trump is very transparent, speaking in public to get the record straight, knowing the Deep State are listening, and would release it to the media anyway. But the Deep State, after 100 days, realizing their leak sabotage is no longer working, have moved on to using questions, seemingly innocuous, with the media, and to spinning Trump's answers by projecting his intentions, motives, or thoughts, and in a negative way. I listen to Trump directly, and find what Trump said and what the media reports are a lot different. Musk should be more careful with his reactions, as the media is jerking his chain.

I cannot tell what is happening by what is published in the press. They could turn giving a flower to a little girl into a hideous act on pedophilia with their selective quotes and leading questions. Trump wants the bill passed for the structural changes even though he knows is contains far too much spending. Musk has seen the process and knows that much of the spending is totally wasted. Trump needs the rhino's to vote for the bill to get the changes he wants. Then he can go after the spending in the appropriation process. Or simply abolish the agencies spending the money. Or simply rif the staff. Musk wants the cuts now and perhaps thinks that congress with cave is Trump is tough enough. Or he may be positioning himself to attack spending from the outside while Trump comes up with "reasonable" compromises. Or it could be just a couple of smart headstrong outspoken guys getting in a fight. Who knows. I just know it is probably not as the press positions it.

I'll take "Briar Patch Tricks" for 500, Alex. I tend to think #14 is closest on this. On their worst days, Trump and Musk are both 4x brighter than the press snails. Why not give them a bit of fluff to chase for a few days, while further cementing Trump's hold on his Congressional support? At the same time, Musk has to be concerned a bit about stockholders getting up in arms for losing money during these emotional Tesla stock swings. If he doesn't respond "forcefully" to Trump's actions against EV mandates and Gubbermint rebates to thick-wallet Tesla buyers, his board or some disgruntled schoolteacher stockholder may just go after his CEO position for being too cozy with Trump instead of the fiscal interests of the stockholders. Everyone knows that Trump is a mystical blend of thick-skinned and hypersensitive, vengeful and forgiving, according to what works in the moment... so all of the bluster and namecalling works for him credibly. I'm watching for a radical swing in the relationship, say, right after the final vote on the BBB.

It’s obvious that Donald Trump is a different president. His divergence from the norm manifests itself in various ways. He’s even broached the possibility of eliminating the Internal Revenue Service. Count us among the tens if not hundreds of millions of Americans who wish him godspeed if he chooses to dissolve this truly abusive agency. Trump’s IRS commissioner nominee, Billy Long, whose appointment passed another hurdle Tuesday, might give us a little more insight into Trump’s plans for the IRS. Long, a former Republican House member from Missouri, cosponsored more than a decade ago a bill that would

When the Congressional Budget Office reported that the Republicans’ “big, beautiful” reconciliation bill would boost deficits and throw millions off insurance rolls, it was treated as gospel truth. The CBO is, after all, a “non-partisan” agency, staffed by just-the-facts-ma’am budget and economic experts who don’t have any axes to grind. Maybe that’s true. But it’s not partisan bias that is the problem. It’s the CBO’s terrible track record when it comes to predicting the impact of tax and health care policies. By the CBO’s accounting, the House reconciliation bill would cut tax revenue by $3.7 trillion

The net-zero zealots want to force a worldwide renewable energy transition. But they don’t always get their way. Their fanciful projects have been blocked more than 1,000 times globally. In a world seemingly gone mad, this is welcome news. “The total number of alt-energy rejections or restrictions now exceeds 1,000 — it’s 1,011 to be exact,” says energy author Robert Bryce, who operates a database that shows 814 U.S rejections of solar, wind and battery projects. Add those to others across the world and the total exceeds a grand. “The rejections keep coming,” says Bryce. “Since the beginning of May,

So far, so good, but there is still room for improvement, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests. While Trump is in only the fifth month of his second term, Americans feel much more favorable about him right now than than they did about former President Joe Biden in his final month in office, the June I&I/TIPP Poll shows. In the latest poll, taken from May 28-30, I&I/TIPP once again asked voters: “Overall, is your opinion of Donald Trump generally favorable,

This week, we saw a spate of news stories blaming Democrats’ troubles on their vocabulary. They’re just using too many darn multisyllabic, academic-sounding words and turning off numbskull voters, is the basic message. Seriously? The Democrats’ problem isn’t linguistic, it’s ideological. But no one in the party wants to admit that. A Washington Post story this week – “Democratic troubles revive debate over left-wing buzzwords” – begins by saying: Maybe it’s using the word ‘oligarchs’ instead of rich people. Or referring to ‘people experiencing food insecurity’ rather than Americans going hungry. Or ‘equity’ in place of ‘equality,’ or ‘justice-involved populations’ instead of prisoners.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California lawmakers this week advanced several efforts aimed at reining in utility profits and slashing electricity bills as part of their agenda to tackle the sky-high costs of living. The proposals would make sweeping changes to how utilities fund expensive infrastructure projects like putting power lines underground to guard against wildfires. They also would add more oversight around wildfire mitigation spending and put new requirements on utility requests to increase rates. Supporters said the goal is to make the big investor-owned utilities start sharing some of the costs to fight wildfires and build new transmission infrastructure. “This
