It’s obvious that Donald Trump is a different president. His divergence from the norm manifests itself in various ways. He’s even broached the possibility of eliminating the Internal Revenue Service. Count us among the tens if not hundreds of millions of Americans who wish him godspeed if he chooses to dissolve this truly abusive agency. Trump’s IRS commissioner nominee, Billy Long, whose appointment passed another hurdle Tuesday, might give us a little more insight into Trump’s plans for the IRS. A national sales tax would also have another benefit. The tax avoiders, scofflaws, workers taking in cash only to dodge federal taxes (your yard guy) and millions of others. A sales tax would tax everyone who buys anything. That's all of us, honest citizens, mafia dons, drug dealers, rich buyers of luxury yachts etc. etc. The only drawback would be that the federal government would try to inch up the percentage every time they wanted more money which is every year until the universe ceases to exist.

Maybe Trump And Musk Are Playing 5D Chess? 18 replies

Whenever President Donald Trump does something that confounds his biggest supporters, the common response is: “Well, Trump is playing 4D chess.” Some posited that this is what was going on after Trump’s initial response to Elon Musk’s bashing of the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” [snip] This isn’t 4D chess – not that we have any idea what 4D chess means. But maybe it’s 5D chess – the kind of chess that can warp reality in such a way as to make liberals’ heads explode. Hear us out. The left hates Trump and Musk about equally. When the Congressional Budget Office reported that the Republicans’ “big, beautiful” reconciliation bill would boost deficits and throw millions off insurance rolls, it was treated as gospel truth. The CBO is, after all, a “non-partisan” agency, staffed by just-the-facts-ma’am budget and economic experts who don’t have any axes to grind. Maybe that’s true. But it’s not partisan bias that is the problem. It’s the CBO’s terrible track record when it comes to predicting the impact of tax and health care policies. By the CBO’s accounting, the House reconciliation bill would cut tax revenue by $3.7 trillion

The economy appears to be booming, consumer confidence is rising, inflation is coming in lower, and job growth higher, than expected. Normally, we’d all be celebrating good news like this. But not when Donald Trump is sitting in the White House. Then it must be ignored or explained away. Ever since Trump took office, we’ve been treated to a steady diet of doomsaying. His tariffs would fuel inflation. He was driving the economy toward a recession. When the Commerce Department reported a slight contraction in the first quarter – so slight that future revisions could show that the economy expanded in

The net-zero zealots want to force a worldwide renewable energy transition. But they don’t always get their way. Their fanciful projects have been blocked more than 1,000 times globally. In a world seemingly gone mad, this is welcome news. “The total number of alt-energy rejections or restrictions now exceeds 1,000 — it’s 1,011 to be exact,” says energy author Robert Bryce, who operates a database that shows 814 U.S rejections of solar, wind and battery projects. Add those to others across the world and the total exceeds a grand. “The rejections keep coming,” says Bryce. “Since the beginning of May,

Presidents rise or fall based on what voters think of them, at least when it comes to political clout and influence. How is President Donald Trump doing? So far, so good, but there is still room for improvement, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests. While Trump is in only the fifth month of his second term, Americans feel much more favorable about him right now than than they did about former President Joe Biden in his final month in office, the June I&I/TIPP Poll shows. In the latest poll, taken from May 28-30, I&I/TIPP once again asked voters: “Overall, is your opinion of Donald Trump generally favorable,

This week, we saw a spate of news stories blaming Democrats’ troubles on their vocabulary. They’re just using too many darn multisyllabic, academic-sounding words and turning off numbskull voters, is the basic message. Seriously? The Democrats’ problem isn’t linguistic, it’s ideological. But no one in the party wants to admit that. A Washington Post story this week – “Democratic troubles revive debate over left-wing buzzwords” – begins by saying: Maybe it’s using the word ‘oligarchs’ instead of rich people. Or referring to ‘people experiencing food insecurity’ rather than Americans going hungry. Or ‘equity’ in place of ‘equality,’ or ‘justice-involved populations’ instead of prisoners.

Anyone who thought electric-vehicle mandates and policies designed to force Americans out of their cars and into public transit or onto early 18th century-technology (bicycles) are intended to protect the environment is either naive or an accomplice in tyranny. The evidence has been helpfully provided by a Massachusetts senator who wants to limit how far people can travel. We have heard well past the point of being fed up that the world has to sharply cut greenhouse gas emissions or we’ll scorch or planet. Carbon dioxide produced by man, the fanatics assure us, is an existential threat.

By 2-to-1, Americans agree that the media covered up former President Joe Biden’s mental infirmities, and an even-larger share believe it’s “important” to hold media outlets accountable for failing to inform the public about the former president’s health problems, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. The poll was taken before the former president was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer on May 16. In the national online I&I/TIPP Poll of 1,400 adults taken in late April and early May, Americans were asked: “To what extent do you agree or disagree that the media covered up Joe Biden’s mental decline?”

Leftist Prime Minister Mark Carney might not be as prissy and preposterous as his predecessor, Justin Trudeau, but he is just as tyrannical. He’s told Canadian companies that there will be penalties for those that don’t conduct business in the way he wants them to. We don’t think he’s building gulags in Nunavut for refusenik executives, but we see the hammer and sickle he’s trying to hide behind his back. Before he was prime minister, Carney claimed that “climate change is an existential threat” and “we all recognize that,” both of which are untrue, but that’s the way authoritarians operate

California Gov. Breitbart News reported: President Donald Trump is reportedly considering ways to pull more federal funding from the State of California, as Gov. Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man whose erroneous deportation to El Salvador became a protracted battle over due process and a test of wills, has been returned to the United States to face human smuggling charges in Tennessee. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday in a news conference that he had landed in the U.S. “to face justice.” Abrego Garcia has been named in an indictment charging him with transporting within the U.S. people not legally in the country. The two-count indictment, sealed by a Tennessee court last month, alleges that Abrego Garcia participated in a conspiracy over nine years to move people from Texas deeper into the country.

China doesn't have the best track record when it comes to batteries for things like electric cars and scooters. In fact, some of these Chinese lithium batteries have an unpleasant tendency to become explodey. Granted, this is a problem with batteries like this in general, but China's quality control standards in general are, shall we say, not the greatest. From steel to batteries, China just doesn't quite measure up. Case in point: Now a ship carrying 3,000 cars from China to Mexico, 800 of them electric vehicles, is off the coast of Alaska, abandoned, burning, and spewing toxic smoke. How "green" is that?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California lawmakers this week advanced several efforts aimed at reining in utility profits and slashing electricity bills as part of their agenda to tackle the sky-high costs of living. The proposals would make sweeping changes to how utilities fund expensive infrastructure projects like putting power lines underground to guard against wildfires. They also would add more oversight around wildfire mitigation spending and put new requirements on utility requests to increase rates. Supporters said the goal is to make the big investor-owned utilities start sharing some of the costs to fight wildfires and build new transmission infrastructure. “This

Former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who served during the first Trump administration, has revealed a disturbing development out of Texas. Friedman says a planned major conference, with more than 1,000 attendees expected, has now been canceled due to overwhelming threats of jihadist violence. This comes against the backdrop of a string of recent violent attacks by pro-Hamas radicals inside the United States -- from an arson attack at the Pennsylvania Governor's mansion in April, to the murder of two Israeli embassy workers at a Jewish museum in Washington, DC, to the firebombing of peaceful demonstrators in Colorado on Sunday. On January 19, 2025, Leonard Peltier — convicted for his role in the execution-style murders of FBI Special Agents Jack Coler and Ronald Williams — was granted clemency by President Joe Biden. The commutation, issued in the final hours of Biden's presidency, blindsided the law enforcement community and reignited long-standing wounds within the FBI family. But as raw as that moment felt, time has brought a new perspective, and more troubling questions. Peltier was convicted in 1977 for his involvement in the brutal ambush and murder of two young FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He did not act alone, but he was held accountable
