The first pictures have emerged of a North Korean warship seemingly covered in tarpaulin after it capsized and sank in front of dictator Kim Jong Un. Satellite images appear to show the naval destroyer languishing on its side alongside the dock where a launch ceremony had been held. But the launch failed, and analysis of pictures taken on Thursday suggest the ship is now partially submerged and covered with bright blue tarpaulins in an apparent attempt to conceal the wreckage. State media said the the 5,000-ton ship, which had been due to enter service next year, is designed to carry weapons systems including nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles.

Here's an article related to the one below, in re North Korean ship launch. Kim Jong-un does not tolerate failure. Don't you just know that he's gonna get some? In the past, he has had certain people who've met with his disapproval tied down before he had them shot with triple A (anti-aircraft artillery). Pretty effective, but slight overkill. He's bound to be creative in his execution methods, because his teen-aged daughter was there with him. That makes it worse. Little Rocket Man has the redass.

FTA: "...the ship is now partially submerged and covered with bright blue tarpaulins in an apparent attempt to conceal the wreckage." Poor writing annoys me. "Apparent attempt?" No they covered it up with blue tarpaulins. What annoys me even more is going to Walmart and not being able to get a blue tarpaulin to cover my 1993 Bayliner because the Norks got there first.

FTA: KCNA said: 'Due to immature command and operational negligence, the parallel movement of the bogies could not be guaranteed, resulting in the launching sled in the stern detaching first and causing the ship to capsize. 'The ship's balance was destroyed due to a rupture in the hull in some sections, and the bow section was unable to detach from the keel.' As for the blue tarps, they hid nothing. Thus the conjectural "apparent attempt". Even tjey didn't do what they were apparently intended to do. Another fail...

Democrats love to preach about transparency and democracy, but the latest revelations from inside Joe Biden’s campaign expose a deception that borders on a constitutional crisis. We now know that Biden wasn’t just a weak candidate; he was a figurehead propped up by unelected aides who planned to run the country in his place. In a stunning exchange on Fox News Sunday, a chilling revelation from Alex Thompson, co-author with Jake Tapper of “Original Sin,” laid bare what many of us on the right had long suspected about Joe Biden’s bid for a second term: It was never about serving — it was about installing a shadow presidency

The subject of recent books detailing his decline, Biden is apparently having trouble bringing in speaking fees and difficulty fundraising for his presidential library, The Wall Street Journal reports. Perhaps this should come as no surprise. After Biden’s catastrophic 2024 debate performance against Trump revealed the extent of his declining health and marked the end of his campaign, why would anyone pay the former president to speak? And who would want to fund a Biden presidential library, as a monument

Bob Dylan celebrates his 84th birthday today. When he snagged the Nobel Prize for Literature a few years ago, I pulled out all the stops by posting a big set of my favorite covers of his songs. I don’t have any stops left to pull, but I’m adding another cover or four (again) this year in honor of his birthday today. Dylan is first and foremost a songwriter. See, for example, Raymond Foye’s interview with Clinton Heylin about his deep dive into the Dylan archive. Dylan somehow absorbed the folk, rock, country, and blues traditions as a precocious young man growing up in Hibbing and then recapitulated

Public chargers are few and far between and often don’t work. *EVs are much more expensive than comparable conventional vehicles. *Parts are scarce and insurance and repair costs outlandish. *They lose value at incredible rates and there is virtually no used EV market. *They tend to spontaneously combust and since they make their own oxygen when on fire, are virtually impossible to extinguish. *They’re bought almost exclusively

Today is the birthday of Minnesota native son Bob Dylan. He turns the ripe old age of 84. It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there. I want to celebrate him as long we’re both still around to enjoy the occasion. He is a remarkable artist, self-invented, deep in the American grain. A few years back I visited Dylan’s old home at 2425 7th Avenue East in Hibbing. The house is a small two-story residence with a one-car attached garage on the side. The house is exactly two blocks from Hibbing High School, Dylan’s alma mater. A Dylan fan must be somewhere in the chain of title. At the time

Many pro-Israel people I know, both Jewish and non-Jewish, are deeply worried about Trump’s current Middle East positions. He’s marginalizing Israel in negotiations with Saudi Arabia, accepting on the government’s behalf a luxury plane from double-dealing Qatar, and handing money to the goons in Syria. At the same time, he’s seemingly freezing out Israel, to the great consternation of Israel and its supporters. So, what gives? Having read Charles Lipson’s superb analysis of the problems in dealing with an almost nuclear Iran, and how Biden created this monster, I suspect that “what gives” may be Trump trying an out-of-the-box approach to isolating Iran long enough for his economic policies

Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government could lose nearly 60% of its student body if the Trump administration’s attempted ban on international enrollment, temporarily blocked by a judge, takes effect. As at many Harvard schools, campus life at the Kennedy School has been hijacked by anti-Israel activists. Last week, a federal judge blocked President Donald Trump from denying Harvard the ability to enroll students on foreign visas. But the administration made clear it intends to stop Harvard from being able to enroll foreigners if it continues to defy the president’s demands that it fight antisemitism and reform its “woke” curriculum and administrative practices. Justices have only worsened the condition with conflicting and at times incomprehensible opinions. Both Democratic and Republican presidents have long argued that federal judges are out of control in issuing national injunctions that freeze the entire executive branch for years on a given policy.
