Today In Republicans Being Useless: Thom
Tillis Plans To Sink Ed Martin Nomination

Is Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., trying to sabotage his 2026 reelection bid? It’s a question worth asking when considering that the Tarheel State’s senior senator seems to be doing everything in his power to betray his constituents ahead of next year’s primary. While speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, Tillis, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, formally announced his opposition to the nomination of Ed Martin to serve as the next U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. With a 12-10 Republican majority on the committee, Tillis’ opposition likely nullifies the body’s ability to favorably move Martin’s nomination to the full Senate for final confirmation.

considering the danger of Boasberg controlling the appointment, putting in another Jack Smith type to plague the Administration, i suggest TT find a way to report Martin out of committee leading to a floor vote, when he can vote against him.

I live in NC, but I won't be voting for this useless preener in 2026... assuming he survives the primaries. I also will not vote for former (thankfully, term-limited) Gov. Roy Cooper (a.k.a. Goober). Just as in early 2016, when conventional wisdom said my choices were between Hillary and ¡Jeb!, I will write in "Mickey Mouse" if Republicans leave me with no choice.

Wait. It's 12-10. Tillis joins the Dems. If all the Pubs vote yes (dicey assumption, of course), it's 11-11, and it goes to the floor for a vote. So it's technically not over, or am i missing something?

They say one of the first things that the Trump Crew needs to do if they want the Trump agenda to succeed, is get rid of the RINOS who have been hanging around the Halls of Congress. Chances are Tillis could be taken out by Lara Trump who is from North Carolina.

Tillis needs to be removed from the judiciary committee if he can't properly represent his state. Hello! When do the pubs start codifying PDT's executive orders? What is the congress (Republicans) doing exactly, except obstructing or putting on media shows? There are over 300 of them combined with a lot of staff; why can't they get stuff done? We need to start reporting and sounding the alarm on our do nothing but obstruct Republicans. It doesn't take all of them to work on the budget. I could walk into that building and hand out assignments to all of them and get this country back to some semblance of what it was in six months. That's if they got off their sorry behinds and did the work instead of focusing on mid term elections and letting the Trump team carry all the weight. Enough with the freakin hearings; they need to do some real work. What is wrong with them?

A few weeks ago, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent rightly pointed out that “Access to cheap goods is not the essence of the American dream. The American dream is rooted in the concept that any citizen can achieve prosperity, upward mobility, and economic security. For too long, the designers of multilateral trade deals have lost sight of this.” His comments received backlash from folks who believe that cheaply made Chinese goods are more important than the health of the American workforce and the longevity of our domestic economy. Former Vice President Mike Pence jumped on the bandwagon in an interview with CNN to declare that “Cheap goods are a big part

On Monday President Donald Trump floated the idea that illegal aliens who voluntarily self-deport could be given a chance to come back legally, as though the only issue is mass illegal immigration. But this position represents a dangerous misdiagnosis of the real problem. It’s not that illegal immigration is a problem simply because it’s, well, illegal. Mass migration — whether legal or illegal — is national suicide. The sheer volume of foreign arrivals reshapes the country in ways no election can reverse and no bureaucratic process can fix. A nation isn’t just laws — a nation is its people, its culture, and its identity.

The media have been going bananas wondering when President Trump will begin negotiations with China. President Trump has been very clear that there is no need to open negotiations with China, but all discussions are welcome. Essentially the point is that tariffs will remain in place until Beijing gets to a point where they acquiesce to the reality of President Trump’s terms for reciprocal trade. The goal is to bring manufacturing back to the USA, not generate terms where manufacturing remains in China. The Chinese trade delegation is scheduled to be in Switzerland at the same time as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer
