India was under pressure by both sides, the USA and China. Part of the Trump Indo-pacific plan was a geopolitical trade strategy aligning the United States with India. However, Beijing was pressuring India to reject alignment with the USA and form a mutually beneficial trade block with China. India has rejected the Chinese plan and chosen to follow the USA model because access to the U.S. consumer base is the stronger economic influence. (snip) Reports indicate that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to accept all conditions of the US in a trade deal.

Not only is the US consumer market bigger than the US share of world GDP (26 to 40) but US is the source of most technology and business innovation.PM Modi is not a fool. The volume of increased trade will overcome the cost of the tariffs.

The Supreme Court lifted a lower-court judge’s ruling that paused the administration’s ban on mentally unstable people who were uncertain of their gender. The DEI judges (Latino, Lesbian and Black) dissented. Previously, President Trump stopped allowing transvestites to participate in military service for obvious ‘mission critical’ reasons. A lower court said that was unconstitutional and blocked the ban. Is Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., trying to sabotage his 2026 reelection bid? It’s a question worth asking when considering that the Tarheel State’s senior senator seems to be doing everything in his power to betray his constituents ahead of next year’s primary. While speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, Tillis, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, formally announced his opposition to the nomination of Ed Martin to serve as the next U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. With a 12-10 Republican majority on the committee, Tillis’ opposition likely nullifies the body’s ability to favorably move Martin’s nomination to the full Senate for final confirmation.

The Wall Street Journal first reported on May 2, based on anonymous sources, that Trump had offered to send U.S. troops to take a leading role in efforts within Mexico to counter the cartels. Sheinbaum was asked to comment on The Wall Street Journal’s reporting on Saturday, as she attended an event near Mexico’s capital. “You know what I told him? ‘No, President Trump, the territory is inviolable. Sovereignty is inviolable,’” Sheinbaum told the audience.

The Alberta Premier has made it easier for citizens to collect enough signatures to put the question of Alberta Independence to a vote. Polling has indicated about 30% support for Alberta independence but polling may not be accurate.Collecting the signatures to have a vote should be relatively easy. The hard part will be actually winning the vote to then get to negotiations for independence. However, independence for Alberta is very economically attractive, especially based upon current conditions where US cooperation is guaranteed. This would put Alberta into a far better negotiating position with Ontario, Quebec and Canada.
