Some cities have canceled or severely downplayed Cinco de Mayo events for fear of ICE raids and deportations.
Speaking with CNN on Monday, Chicago resident Hector Escobar, president of the Casa Puebla and Cermak Road Chamber of Commerce, said that people in his community are “very scared” of gathering in public with some even considering going back to Mexico.
“Our people are very scared,” he said. “Honestly, they’re saying they don’t want to go to work. They have to go to work because they have to feed their families. So, if they both were working, now one person is working.”

Boo-hoo-hoo. These are people who should be here. They are all lawbreakers.

If they are considering going back, what are they scared of?
Oh, of going to a prison!
So, they know they are criminals.

This tells us where there are many illegals...
If smart, they would self-deport...

I'll be happier when it is celebrated exclusively in Mexico.

Considering it is a made up 'holiday' by beer companies...it and Kwanza are just as fraudulent.
You know, if you abide by the law, you don't have to worry about jail.

I sometimes enjoy Mexican cuisine, but I don't care about celebrating their beating of France. Beating France is like a 15 year old beating up his 2 year old brother. I'll wait and celebrate the 4th of July.

If they’re worried about being deported, then they must be illegal. Or maybe just stupid .

You snuck in so just sneak back out. Or collect your plane ticket and the $1000. Either way you do not belong here. I'm sorry that is just the way it is. I can live without avocados and clean my own toilet.

If you are not here illegally you have nothing to worry about (assuming you’re a law-abiding citizen). Those individuals stirring the pot are the “advocates” who are making money off the poor, the wretched, the huddled masses … shame on THEM.

Illegals, take the one thousand bucks and have a good flight home to your corrupt hellholes. You might even try fixing them after you get there.

Sounds like they understand that what they did to get here was against the law and they fear the consequences. Good! They can easily alleviate their fear by returning to their home country.

I enjoy any opportunity to celebrate a French military defeat, but the Battle of Puebla is rather obscure.
Trafalgar day, 21 October, is more appropriate for a celebratory tot of rum.

Don't just think about going back to Mexico, or what ever 3rd world country you came from. JUST GO now, before the rush.

According to my Mexican-born wife, true Mexicans do not celebrate Cinco de Mayo. When we were in Mexico in past trips around this time of year, there were no observances anywhere we went. So, if ICE was going to raid Mexican festival, it would be “15 de Septiembre.”

They are NOT rounding up the average illegal in the country.
They are concentrating on those who've been given deportation orders already and have not left yet.
They are concentrating on those who have criminal convictions while in the country.
They are concentrating on the gang members who terrorize neighborhoods.
But, today's Democrat party needs to tell a different story in hopes of scaring people into believing something that's not happening all because they actually created and fostered the situation.

The answer to those supposedly scared Mexicans problem is, if they are illegally in the USA, for them to return to Mexico voluntarily without being detained and deported. There is no way that ICE is going to raid Stinko de Mayo festivities thus starting a big time stampede.

Cinco de Mayo is not a "made-up holiday." It's Mexican Independence Day. Its celebration here is an indication that those who do so are not committed to the United States.

Sinko de Mayo. You want to celebrate that day? Move to Tijuana.

I heard no talk of Cinco de Mayo. I believe some of the Mexican people are more afraid of the dangerous cartels than they are of threats of deportations.
