We have written a number of times about Mary Moriarty, the leftist who now serves as County Attorney for Hennepin County, Minnesota. (snip) When she was sworn in as county attorney, did she put her hand on the Bible or perhaps a copy of the Constitution? No: she rested it on a graphic novel about the life of Democratic Congressman John Lewis. (snip) “I actually find it hard to believe we’re in the city where George Floyd happened,” she said. “It’s very easy to scare people with crime. It’s a tactic that people have used forever and it’s starting to work again.”

It matters not that George Floyd "happened" due to Fentanyl, low IQ, race-baiting and a life of crime.

They're said to be low in fat, good for cholesterol and an overall healthier choice than the real deal. But a new trial suggests that plant-based fake meat products are not in fact a nutritious choice - and could increase the risk of heart disease. The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that people who ate a diet high in fake meats like Beyond burgers and Impossible burgers for eight weeks had higher blood sugars than those who ate real meat. This puts them at higher risk for developing heart disease and diabetes down the line, the authors wrote.

Kansas Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly has vetoed legislation that would have banned gender-affirming care treatment for minors. “This divisive legislation targets a small group of Kansans by placing government mandates on them and dictating to parents how to best raise and care for their children,” Kelly said in a statement Friday, announcing her veto. “I do not believe that is a conservative value, and it’s certainly not a Kansas value.” She added that the bill goes against parental rights and that the government should not be in "between a parent and a child who needed medical care of any kind.”

A California reparations bill prioritizing black applicants in state professional licensing is likely unconstitutional and violates the U.S. Constitution’s equal protections clause under the 14th Amendment, says the Pacific Legal Foundation. AB 2862, authored by Assemblymember Mike Gipson, D-Carson, would “require boards to prioritize African American applicants seeking licenses under these provisions, especially applicants who are descended from a person enslaved in the United States.” The bill was introduced in February as a broader package of reparations for Black Californians, a package that did not include direct cash payments. (snip) California requires licenses for a wide variety of professions, ranging from manicurists to doctors.

The commander of a US Navy warship is apparently a not-so-sharpshooter. A commanding officer of the USS John S. McCain, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, was mocked online after he was photographed holding an assault weapon with its scope mounted backward as he took aim at a target known as a “killer tomato.” Cmdr. Cameron Yaste “observes the live-fire exercise event. The ship is in U.S. 7th Fleet conducting routine operations,” read a caption posted by Defense Visual Information Distribution Service alongside an image of him holding up the weapon with the Trijicon VCOG scope installed backward while pointed at a large target balloon.

In 1998, San Francisco installed the latest cutting-edge technology to run the train network: floppy disks. A quarter of a century later and the city’s transportation agency is still using the same system. People under the age of 30 might not know what a floppy disk is; an archaic way of storing data (think USB stick). But the workers at San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) sure do as they are still using obsolete tech to automate the movement of light rail vehicles. (snip) The SMFTA uses five-inch floppy disks to automatically control trains inside the subway.

The first quarter of 2024 has seen the number of measles cases recorded in the U.S. stand significantly higher than in recent years, a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) details. Americans have reported a total of 338 cases since January 1, 2020—and 97 cases, or 29 percent of the total, came between the start of 2024 and March 28, per the report. And as of April 11, the number of cases in 2024 had risen to 121. “What was surprising about 2024 is that we’ve seen a significant increase,” John Brownstein, an epidemiologist at Boston Children’s Hospital, told ABC News’ Mary Kekatos.

Iran's unprecedented missile and drone strike on Israel is unlikely to prompt dramatic sanctions action on Iran's oil exports from the Biden administration due to worries about boosting oil prices and angering top buyer China, said analysts. Shortly after Tehran launched its weekend attack - retaliation for Israel's suspected April 1 strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus - House Republican leaders accused President Joe Biden of failing to enforce existing measures and said they would take up this week a series of bills to sharpen sanctions on Iran.

The inflation numbers remain high; this entire presidency has been shipwrecked by incompetence, arrogance, and, yes, Joe’s decrepit state.
