With Tuesday’s relatively easy passage of an Ohio constitutional amendment that effectively bars that state’s legislature from regulating abortion in the state, abortion advocates are now convinced that they not only have the public on their side but have found political gold. They now view abortion as such a winning issue that they think it can pave the way to enacting a wide range of other leftist goals. They are largely mistaken, as abortion mercifully remains a highly contentious issue in America. Still, abortion advocates will continue to prevail until pro-life leaders and politicians learn the political lessons that have arisen

This well-written and informative article is centered around moderate options for abortions versus radical options and appears to suggest that abortions are acceptable with certain restrictions. For some people of faith, even though being empathetic to the plight of various precarious pregnancy circumstances, abortion is not acceptable—laws that violate God’s laws. Abortion kills innocent babies, humans, God’s creation.

On abortion, Republicans need to adopt the Democrats strategy of incrementalism. Baby steps. Pass small changes that you can sell then, as soon as that's passed, start selling the next incremental step. I realize that, when dealing with matters of life and death, it's very difficult to temper the urgency but rushing to ban it all at once is going to put us further away from the ultimate goal rather than getting us closer.

Too many hideous, morality free young people are perfectly content with killing babies. They have no problems with it, and are absolutely outraged at the idea of NOT being able to murder babies.

Bless their hearts. Republicans are slow learners. And too many people do not have a problem with leading a slutty lifestyle. And getting rid of the problem is easier than facing it head on. Or being responsible and preventing the pregnancy to begin with. There are way too many pregnancies and abortions to believe they were all unfortunate accidents of their choice of birth control.

Problem is the pro-choice will NOT tolerate anything but complete compliance. AND they will always vote dem. Dems are the death cult party after all. Pro-choicers love death.

I would suggest a strategy like what the liberals have done. Infiltrate, suggest disapproval, point out science, get curriculum into private schools. Teach that Murdering babies is morally repugnant and only supported by people who can't control themselves, and want an easy out. Remark publically and frequently about how the abortion industry pander to child rapists. This is all true.
Make the Left the bad guys, again. Produce movies with honorable heroes. Push and push and push!!

Not exactly # 5. I'm pro-choice up to 12 weeks. After that there should be a medical reason before an abortion is done. Comments here all center on the 'slutty' woman. It tells me you have missed a huge segment of the population who aren't slutty but find themselves in difficult circumstances. The only person making this decision should be the pregnant woman.

No, no, no! The time for preaching, debate and polite argument is long past and only direct action will carry the day, the kind of direct action strategy I sent to The Federalist this very morning and they REJECTED ME. Like so many in the Pro-Life movement, the folks at The Federalist may be bright and savvy people but they're fighting a holy war where the object is not to win but to show God how virtuous they are. It's time to take the battle to the abortion crowd and I have the plan that will destroy them.

Yes yes. It is most important for citizens to discss this and for opinions to be aired and for everyone to know the facts and understand each other better. It is not about the law's coercive force it is about people working it out together and listening. A law is a nice basis for a discussion. It should be used for that.

Abortion is no longer a federal issue. It is a state issue. The voters have decided it is between the woman, her doctor and her God to do what she wants with her body. However I don’t think it is her right to spend my money to do such an evil deed. Do not use tax money to pay for abortions. Make them spend their own money..

Republicans should not call it pro life--call it what it is--pro abortion, killing life.
How long before we discover that women are getting pregnant to abort the baby for
selling body parts and organs.

Abortion is used as a solution to people irresponsibility for their actions. The lack of morals and respect for life is non-existent.
They believe having sex is their right with little thought to consequences. Sex is suppose to be only for married couples. Morals, self control and respect for life has long been ignored not only in USA but around the world. This country use to be One Nation under God. Now it’s turning into what ever feels good. Just do it. Taxpayers can fix it.

Interestingly, the Democrats use the abortion issue to suppress the Republican/Conservative vote.
You can see it on this site when this topic is presented, and how many likely don't vote for X candidate because of this single issue. That helps the Democrats who not only support this issue, but they enact many other things that the very people who don't vote for X candidate don't like too.
Abortion was generally within the 1st trimester, and if rape or incest.
However, now the Democrats enact State Constitutional amendments that allow for up-to the day of birth if the woman so chooses, and add a host of other cause-issues into the amendment. Nearly impossible to remove an amendment.
Democrats now frame it as a "freedom" issue, and how the Republican/Conservatives want to make a 12 year old girl who was raped by her step-father to give birth to that child.
When you call people murderers, you've lost the argument since no one wants to hear such a thing, and it doesn't stop them process or procedure.

Problem with the pro-choice crowd is that THEY have a choice but the baby has none. We can be in the forgiveness business but many on the left give no thought to ending a pregnancy. We all don't get "a choice". Neither does the father. He gets no choice either. Women are very selective on who gets to choose.

Sorry, #7, but one million babies a year since 1972 are an awful lot of “difficult circumstances.” It’s time for the abortion crowd to adopt a conscience. I’m sick of this argument and I’m sick of a world that justifies a “moderate” approach to infanticide in order to gain power. The truth is that the abortion issue does not win or lose elections. Vote fraud does.

It's no longer a federal issue. It's been sent back to the states where it belonged all along.

The pro-life crowd needs to throw a bucket of cold reality at the country. Buy some TV time and show a late term abortion. Show the nurses putting the pieces of the baby back together again to ensure that nothing is left in the womb. Follow up with interviews with women who have had post abortion problems such as divorce, substance abuse, inability to have more children, and suicide attempts. Rip the cover off of the "healthcare" BS.

I am 100% pro life but.....The morning after pill sounds good to me. I think it should be easily available to women. It will never happen though because some Conservatives think that even that is murder, and dim-0s wont be for it cause they dont want to lose the issue.

#17~ “When you call people murderers, you've lost the argument since no one wants to hear such a thing, and it doesn't stop them process or procedure.” / It isn’t necessary for pro-life advocates to blatantly call pro-choice advocates murderers; the reality of abortion is “murder” but there are more subtle ways to advance that reality as evidenced by some excellent suggestions posted to this thread such as pro-life advertisements revealing the “business” of body parts being sold for profit or, even by animation, the stark reality of a baby’s dismembered body parts being reassembled to ensure that the abortionist has removed all body parts during the procedure. As ugly, distasteful, abhorrent a body part reassembly is, it may be a means of finally getting through to some pro-choice advocates not having considered the reality of abortion. Would any woman, any mother, any man, any father want to see a baby dismembered? No matter how heartless people may be, somehow it doesn’t seem possible that someone could be so devoid of feeling.
#23~ “I am 100% pro life. ... The morning after pill sounds good to me. ...some Conservatives think that even that is murder...” / If the morning after pill’s effect/result isn’t murder, what is it? A human body begins at the moment of conception. The morning after pill “murders” a human body, a baby, a gift of God’s creation.

The author, reflecting on the wisdom of President Abraham Lincoln, correctly understands that, in a republic, “public sentiment is everything.” An argument must be won before laws can be changed or protected from changing adversely. Pro-lifers cannot win an argument without making an argument. Pro-lifers need to “cultivate voters’ trust” by accentuating their moderate abortion stance as opposed to the radical stance of pro-choice advocates and points to the need for pro-lifers to “learn to fight in the political trenches” which, for many pro-lifers, translates to the need for Republican politicians to protect the innocent from the injustice of merciless abortion.
