How Vivek Ramaswamy Became A Billionaire

Original Article

S tanding in a packed New Hampshire restaurant, Vivek Ramaswamy, the fresh-faced Republican shaking up the 2024 presidential race, is making a case for unifying a bitterly divided nation. The secret, he insists, is as American as apple pie: capitalism. “Democrats and Republicans alike, we tend to be more proud of a country when we’re all making more money in that country,” he tells 100 or so diners enjoying turkey sandwiches and diet Cokes. “We don’t have to flog ourselves for capitalism. Stop apologizing for capitalism. We should embrace capitalism.” Ramaswamy certainly has. At 38 years old, the biotech investor and “anti-woke” warrior is worth more than $950 million.

Lots of money, maybe too much, in the pharmaceutical industry. I haven't heard him talk about the relationship between Big Pharma like Pfizer, et al and the US Government (NIH, NIAID, FDA, etc). Cheap shot by the author on how Vivek made his billions and Donald Trump did not. It's not as if the other candidates invented some useful too and got rich off of it.

He's a very bright guy who is articulate with a positive outlook and appreciation for this country. However, he has not yet been fully vetted and this needs to happen before people get too enthralled. In the last couple of weeks, he has started saying some things that give one pause. Such as his comment on backing off of support for Taiwan after 2028 and cutting off aid to Israel after 2028. Just being a "clean and articulate guy" isn't enough. As we eventually learned about someone else.

Probably a good idea to find out the full context of his remarks, as we know how the media tends to make quotes look as bad as possible for conservatives. And Forbes is no long conservative, so they should be checked for accuracy.

I don't think the author was taking a cheap shot at Trump, as much as he was addressing Trump's former claims that he was a self-made billionaire, having only borrowed one million dollars from his father got help launch his business empire. It turns out that the elder Trump left Donald bit over $400 million, which to his credit, he turned into multiple billions. While I get irritated by some of Vivek's policy pronouncements, I believe he displays an admirable degree of humility, like when he thanked a "Karen" last week, who confronted him at a political event, by thanking her for her civility, in spite of finding no common ground. He didn't turn around and trash her once they separated, either. There was no need for that; the Karen essentially trashed herself by her arguments. Although most politicians, right or left, would not have directly answered the question of him accepting a VP slot, Vivek - after a pause - plainly said he would not and went on to explain why. I was a little put off by his ruling off going after Biden, I will not criticize him for not wanting lawfare to become the norm in politics. Despite his campaign rhetoric to the contrary, Trump's decision to not go after Hillary after he took office was, I believe, made for similar, if not the same reasons.

We all called for the President last week. Where was he, days after the apocalyptic Maui wildfires? Actually, we knew where he was: On the beach at his shore home in Delaware. Prepping for his next vacation in Lake Tahoe. Issuing a reptilian ‘no comment’ when asked about the thousand-plus people missing and the Pompeii-like damage and what his plan was. When was he going to visit? For what it’s worth, I wrote an impassioned column imploring the president to go. Now I take it all back. The people of Maui have suffered enough. Elder said Tuesday that he had the required 40,000 individual donors, including 200 from 20 states, and had satisfied the RNC's polling requirement of clocking at least 1 percent support in three national polls or 1 percent in two national polls and two polls from an early contest state. Most of the 2024 GOP presidential candidates ahead of the first Republican debate on Wednesday answered an in-depth 10-question immigration policy questionnaire from Breitbart News. The ten questions were designed to elicit an understanding of how each candidate would approach border security, immigration enforcement, and, perhaps most importantly, the economic impacts of migration policy. This immigration questionnaire is the first issue set in a series of policy-focused efforts Breitbart News will be conducting over the course of the 2024 primary. The questions were sent a little more than a week ago to the top GOP presidential candidates who qualified for the first primary debate.
