LeBron James’ foundation is laying the blame for three years of low test scores at his I Promise school in Akron, Ohio, at least in part, on the pandemic, according to a statement.
James’ school has not just had low test scores for more than three years. It has suffered some of the lowest scores of all of Akron’s schools and has not seen a single 8th grader pass the state’s math standards during the entire period.
In fact, since James’ school opened in 2018, his now eighth-grade kids have proven to have the lowest performance of the Akron school system

Actually, those test scores get them into good schools and jobs. Not every can bounce a ball and make millions.

'Kids Are ‘More Than a Test Score’'
Then you can hire them all to work at Blaze Pizza.
Are they trainable? Do they know simple math? Understand the importance of Board of Health regulations? Can they show up for work when scheduled? Can they put the cell phone down long enough to work using both hands at the same time?

How long have we been dealing with this? Years, and years, and years. Millions upon millions of $. Eventually the black community is going to have to show up and prove they are capable or just throw their hands up and give it up. We have dumbed down education to a low point where a C student is treated like an Einstein. This has nothing to do with the pandemic. This is a trigger warning, get your blanket and find your safe place and curl up into the fetal position. A high percent of black students are sent to school for two reasons. Get them out of the house to the babysitter (the school) and get them free breakfast and lunch and many schools send kids home with a goodie food bag. Mom is worried about her nails and hair extensions and dad isn't even in the picture. Education means little to nothing. I overheard two students talking one day during an indoor recess. She was telling her friend that her mother told her all she had to learn was how to sign her name on the back of her welfare check. Learning is too white, reading and writing correctly is white, speaking correct English is racist (we are not allowed to correct them), math is unnecessary and science/history is a joke. Yes, there are good black families raising good kids who have no problems learning but (quick, run to your safe place) they are few and far between. I had a sweet young man who would not take a library book home to read. He told me his family made fun of him because he liked to read. The kids mimic whom they live with. I am not surprised no student has passed any state mandated test. They take up space, the school gets the money, and they are passed on to the next grade. Yes, this is ugly, but it is happening more than you think and just calling it out as a white conspiracy won't work anymore. No more excuses. This is why it is so worry some to give a person a job because of their color and not their qualifications. The educational system is not doing these students any favors by ignoring the fact that they are not being educated. The average black student who "graduates" from high school is 4 years or more behind the education of a normal high school senior.

LeBron believes in a meritocracy in his own sport of professional basketball.
Yet has trouble with that concept in education and many other occupations.

The pandemic adversely affected people of color - even before there was a pandemic. Yeah, that's why the majority can't read, write or do math.

Gotta ask the educators what the hell they've been sticking up their noses? Zero child passing is entirely unrelated to any sickness! Only incompetence can achieve that! Thanks LeBron!

There are major problems in the black community that democrat politicians don’t want to touch. Because they created them!

Low test scores stem from parents who put no value on education.

It’s not LeBron’s fault. He’s just the checkbook. We should be hearing from the folks who actually run the school. They’re the problem.

They can't do math but I'm sure they can recite every wrong done to them by whitey since 1619. Whining and crying can make you feel better about your failures but it certainly won't help you live a productive life. LeBron should stick with dropping a ball in a hoop, his only skill.

Speaking of test scores, LeBron: what do tests indicate about the cause of Bronny's cardiac arrest last week, or what it means about his physical condition?
