On Saturday, trying to do the right thing led to Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas being put in handcuffs and briefly detained. The incident happened at the White Deer Rodeo in the town of White Deer about 40 miles from Amarillo, according to the Texas Tribune. A statement from Jackson’s office said he was attending the rodeo when he was “summoned by someone in the crowd to assist a 15-year-old girl who was having a medical emergency nearby.” The statement that Jackson, who was a White House doctor for former President Barack Obama, was informed by a relative that the girl needed help in addition to the assistance being provided because

How stupid. Officers storm in like they are raiding the mafia, instead of asking what was going on? The sheriff and officers should be fired. I suspect these attitudes have happened in other situations.

I've seen these kinds of officers in action before. In one sense, considering the very public anti police media, it's no wonder these officers were on edge. In another sense, there are more than a few officers everywhere with a god like mentality with the mind set of we can do anything we want and there's nothing you can do about it because we have a badge attitude. The shortage of officers no matter how many complaints received guarantees these people will not only not be disciplined but won't be removed from the position.

Sorry for the second post but I looked where White Deer is in Texas. It’s a very small town about 40 miles nw of Amarillo with nothing but fields in between and a population of 874. Probably not a hotbed of criminal activity.

This is what happens when police departments nationwide willfully dumb down the application process. I have former acquaintances whose spouses tried to apply to their local departments, but the hiring boards told them that they were actually too intelligent and would ask too many questions of the leadership. That was about 20 years or so ago so I imagine it is much worse now.

Did someone call SWAT? Why in the world are these people acting this way? If EMTs arrive on scene and a licensed Medical Doctor is already providing assistance to the victim, then the EMTs can provide assistance. It's not that complicated. Everyone wants to get the patient to the hospital for evaluation. Medical Triage is NOT a "reality TV" style competition. Dr. Jackson is due many apologies and an official thanks.

LoBaido, a conservative artist and activist, was staging a lone and eccentric protest against a new green crackdown on coal and wood-fired ovens. For anyone who’s been paying any attention to what a post-Tucker Carlson landscape would look like at Fox News, two things are pretty apparent: That landscape is pretty barren. The suddenly-beleaguered news network has lost so many viewers, its stock was downgraded. Fox News is trying anything — or perhaps flailing about — in response to hemorrhaging viewers, including some shakeups to its primetime lineup. Following all of the recent turmoil FOX News has lost the trust of American conservatives. Only one-third of self-described conservatives trust FOX News the most. They may never gain back those former viewers. And it doesn’t appear to be a priority.

Of all the outrages in Biden special counsel Jack Smith’s latest indictment of Donald Trump — and there are many — the worst comes at the end of the 45-page screed’s Count One, the section titled “The Defendant’s Exploitation of the Violence and Chaos at the Capitol.” This is where Smith waves the bloody shirt. Smith intends to try Trump for the Capitol riot even though he hasn’t charged Trump for the Capitol riot. No rioting charge. No allegation of criminal incitement. No seditious conspiracy, no insurrection, no crime of violence of any kind. To levy such an allegation would have been untenable. Smith’s indictment hides the ball, as did the like-minded.
