US grocery prices ticked up in May after dipping in March and April. Inflation in America continued to fall significantly, but rising prices at the supermarket is unwelcome news to those struggling to pay for food.
From April to May, adjusted for seasonal swings, grocery prices got 0.1% more expensive, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index, a key measure of inflation. Menu items got 0.5% in that time.
Overall, grocery prices were 5.8% more expensive in May than they were a year ago. Menu prices have risen 8.3% over the past year. Together, food prices jumped 6.7% throughout the year, once again outpacing overall annual inflation

The only good news is that they finally got all those new hens online and eggs are pretty sane now.
Everything is higher - because energy is in absolutely everything, and the Dems increased the cost of diesel and gasoline massively.
And he dollar has shrunk....been inflated by evil Nancy's $4 trillion of fraudulent handouts.

Everytime I go to the grocery store, I keep looking for that sign that says "Cover Charge $200," because I don't leave there without at least spending that much money.

Being 69 and eating ramen noodles is not where I expected to be at this point in my life. Things were going fine when DJT was in charge. FJB.

We're back to eating the tuna fish that smells suspiciously like cat food. But it's $1.75 cheaper per can now compared to Albacore.

I don't know what they are buying to get their 5.8%.
A few things that I buy at our local 'Wally World' come to mind:
The 'store brand' hot dog buns & burger buns used to be $.80, are now $1.38; a 172% increase
Coca-Cola 2-liter used to be $1.00, is now $2.68; a 268% increase
Store brand cola used to be $.87, is now $1.40; a 62% increase
A gallon of milk used to be $2.97, is now $3.68, a 80.7% increase.
An aerosol can of R134a refrigerant used to cost $4.90, is now $9.90. a 202% increase
I bought a tool, a 3/8" drive 15mm hex extra-deep impact socket a couple weeks ago.
The price marked was $9.82, but it rang up as $16 and change... With a Discount! List price was now $25! When I questioned if this was the correct price, the store owner double-checked, then apologized.... the price that rang up was correct, he had not had time to update the prices on the display.

Correction: On my previous post, I miscalculated some of the percentages..... but the prices are what I recall paying, a year or so ago, and recently.

No question about it, inflation is through the roof. Even if a familiar item has not had too much of an increase, I guarantee the serving size is significantly less.

Funny though, the Fed Reserve Chairman Jay Powell just said today during his presser that inflation is starting to level off therefore a pause in raising interest rates any further can wait a while. But that the Fed will continue to assess if the American economy is being screwed enough or not with high interest rates going forward.

Your point is spot on, #8. Where they get their inflation numbers from beats me. The price of everything — soup, tuna, mustard, cheese, bread, milk, meat, frozen veggies, you name it — has just about doubled in the last year or so. That’s quite a bit more than 7%. FJB.

Thus proving that Joey is lying to the public when he said inflation came down - everywhere except the grocery store.

Not just food. Gas is up, rents are up, mortgage interest rates are up.
We reduced the world's energy supply and drove up the price of energy.
When you increase the price of energy, the price of everything goes up.

Transitory inflation will last until we have leadership in this country understands basic economics. Considering the entrenched 'public servants' need to keep their gravy train running I do not see that happening any time soon.
