According to Dershowitz, the indictment against Donald Trump is partly serious and partly expected, as possessing classified material may not be damning due to potential defenses under the Presidential Records Act. The very day that the Oversight Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives canceled a Contempt of Congress vote against FBI Director Christopher Wray after the latter agreed to turn over a witness file containing bribery allegations against President Joe Biden stemming back to his days as vice president of the United States, Donald Trump—former president and current poll leader among prospective 2024 GOP presidential candidates—informed the public that he has been indicted for mishandling presidential documents. This extraordinary coincidence illustrates an important, baneful trend in American life: the use of criminal prosecutions and civil lawsuits as a political weapon. With a gross profusion of federal, state, and local laws

Atlanta— Former President Donald Trump will make his first public appearances since his federal indictment, speaking on Saturday to friendly Republican audiences in Georgia and North Carolina as he seeks to rally supporters to his defense. Trump, who remains the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination despite his mounting legal woes, is expected to use his scheduled speeches at state party conventions in the two states to deliver a full-throated rebuke of the charges and amplify his assertions that he is the victim of a politically motivated “witch hunt” by Democratic President Joe Biden’s Justice Department. His appearances will come a day after the unsealing of an indictment

Former President Donald Trump responded to the federal indictment unsealed on Friday by suggesting that federal agents “stuffed” classified material into evidence that they collected from Mar-a-Lago after they raided the property last year. A federal grand jury in the Southern District of Florida indicted the president on 37 felony counts for his alleged retention of national defense information, his alleged attempts to obstruct the investigation, and for allegedly lying to investigators.“When the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, they wouldn’t let my lawyers or representatives anywhere near them,”

From an industrial perspective, we should prepare to fight in European and the Pacific theaters and not squabble on the Washington stage. The international chess board is becoming increasingly complicated and dangerous for the United States. Currently at play is an extremely dicey situation with Russia, with our nation consistently providing equipment and financial support to Ukraine. The stakes of this engagement increased exponentially recently when Russia accused the U.S. of helping Ukraine bomb the Kremlin. With retaliation likely, this “cold” war could become red hot for the United States at any moment. Simultaneously, China is increasingly primed for an all-fronts confrontation with the United States over Taiwan.

The top Democrats in the Senate and House called on Friday for former President Donald Trump’s “supporters and critics alike” to allow the federal case against Trump related to classified documents to “proceed peacefully in court.” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) made their remarks in a joint statement after a judge unsealed special counsel Jack Smith’s historic indictment of Trump, which revealed 37 criminal charges against him. “No one is above the law — including Donald Trump,” they wrote. “This indictment must now play out through the legal process, without any outside political or ideological interference.”

Arizona Republican Kari Lake sported a custom t-shirt depicting Andrew Breitbart’s face with the word “WAR” after former President Donald Trump announced he was indicted on Thursday. (Tweet/Photo) Lake wore the shirt in Columbus, Georgia, ahead of the Georgia Republican Party’s state convention on Friday and Saturday, where Trump is expected to deliver remarks. When Breitbart News reached her for comment about the garment bearing its founder, Lake provided a statement on Trump’s indictment and said the shirt she designed “speaks for itself.” “In indicting President Trump, Joe Biden and his corrupt DOJ have committed an all-out assault on the rule of law,” Lake said. The Department of Justice unsealed the

Americans are steadily getting used to giving up their freedoms – and as someone who was forced to flee the oppressive dictatorship in Venezuela, that terrifies me. In Venezuela, even mild criticism of the Maduro regime is treated as a criminal act. For “minor” offenses, you might simply be ridiculed and ostracized by state-controlled propaganda (which is ubiquitous). If you continue to challenge the ruling elite, however, the consequences become more severe – you might be arrested without cause and indefinitely detained, or you might even be subjected to physical torture. That’s the Venezuela I fled as a teenager when I migrated – legally – to the United States. I escaped

We now have more evidence that Joe Biden is a criminal than Democrats faked in order to spy on and then impeach Donald Trump twice, hamstringing his entire four years in office. Yet Trump has become the first president in U.S. history to be raided by the FBI and now indicted — over documents the Department of Justice will not identify, even to courts. The indictment is a scam, on every level. It is pure treachery designed to make a mockery of the American justice system to persecute Democrats’ top political enemy. Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Mike Pence, and Barack Obama all had “documents disputes,” and

If you believe the most ardent defenders of newly indicted former president Donald Trump, there’s a silver bullet hiding in Bill Clinton’s sock drawer. The reference to Clinton’s socks,[Snip]stems from a 13-year-old case in which the right-leaning nonprofit Judicial Watch sought access to 79 audio tape recordings of Clinton interviews conducted by the historian Taylor Branch while Clinton was in office.[Snip]Clinton designated the recordings as personal records, not official presidential records, that were therefore not required to be turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration under the Presidential Records Act. Judicial Watch sued over that designation,
