Tony Awards have gendered actor categories
— where do non-binary people fit?

Most theater, film and television awards feature gendered performance categories, but in recent years, some theater ceremonies have done away with male/female distinctions. Not the Tony Awards, Broadway's highest honors. But this June, for the first time, there's a chance that a couple of non-binary performers will take home statues. "We don't gender other people's professions," said Alex Newell, who plays a female character, Lulu, in the new musical Shucked. "You say: I'm going to my doctor, I'm going to my dentist, and I need to hire a plumber." Newell, who is a self-described non-binary, non-gender-conforming actor, is nominated for

Comments:

I think we know how this will end. The trannies will sweep the awards top to bottom, and the audience will wildly applaud .

Aren't these people supposed to be Actors? It doesn't matter who the "real world" person is or thinks they are. The question is can they become the character they are supposed to be portraying, and, are they any good at it? Actors are generally nuts to begin with. This takes it all to a sky high self-absorbed level.

"I am just, you know, one human at the end of the day and when something like that comes out, people can take your words and twist it however they want," Why not? You seem to think you can take your biological sex and twist it however you want. And I have absolutely no respect for the author since he uses the "preferred pronoun" THEY when speaking about a single actor. But then, its NPR. Yes! Defund NPR

A wild wolverine was spotted multiple times in California last month, only the second specimen to be verified by experts in the past century, according to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. Over a two-week period in May, the wolverine was reported twice in Inyo National Forest and once in Yosemite National Park. Photos and video of the animal were analyzed by U.S. Forest Service experts, who confirmed it was the same creature due to its body proportions, coloration and movement. "Wolverines can travel great distances, making it likely that the recent sightings are all of the same animal

Last Thursday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson held an event with law enforcement personnel and other “community leaders” to unveil his Memorial Day weekend “safety plan.” Holiday weekends in Chicago are notoriously violent, so Johnson’s attempt to curb it constituted his first “big test” as mayor. The consistent and senseless violence on holiday weekends is also why it was disappointing to hear so little substance during the event. Johnson briefly discussed how the Office of Emergency Management and Communications would “monitor citywide events and weather conditions” and all relevant agencies would coordinate with one another.
