A better strategy would be for students to refuse to take out student loans. Reject colleges that offer loans as financial aid. There are many state schools that are affordable and "elite" schools generally can afford to give grants or scholarships.

I know some who have loans. Finally their wages were garnished. But only after 15 years. And then the garnishment got turned off. I don't think any of them has made a dozen payments since 2000.

The 'gimmedats' of the something-for-nothing mob say they won't abide by their legal contracts. They will march off the cliffs into foreclosures, liens, attachments, garnishments, zero credit scores, and everything else that goes with their tantrums. They all need to wear signs declaring "I am a stupid college graduate deadbeat." Future college students will thank them when no student loans will be available.

Not paying back their loans deliberately is stealing and should go on the persons record. When they look for a job, a potential employer will see that the candidate is a deadbeat and has morality issues. If they have any sense, the employer will take a pass on the person.

Many workers without college educations have been paying taxes on their income providing the money that financed the student loans. When they took out a loan they were required to pay it back. These deadbeat “students” need to be require to pay their loans back with full interest. They have already been given a 3 year break that the workers never got.
