Conservatives Lost the Culture War and
the Trump Agenda Is the Only Path Forward

Immigration, trade, war, and crime. Being right on these four issues propelled Donald Trump to the presidency in 2016 against all odds. The intervening seven years have changed nothing. The only way a candidate from the Right can possibly win the presidency in 2024 is by campaigning on limiting immigration (build the wall), increasing tariffs, getting out of Ukraine, and restoring law and order (especially in regards to elections and the opioid crisis). These are the core issues for the center-Right coalition needed to win national elections. No supposedly conservative politician with aspiration for higher office should ever make any public statement without hammering at least one of these points.

FTA - "Trump showed that even in our degraded moral culture, a huge percentage of Americans still want the nation to survive. They don’t hate themselves despite all the propaganda to which they’ve been subjected. The old pre-World War II conservative consensus in favor of protectionism, non-intervention, and immigration restrictions is still enormously popular. If we win on those fronts and secure a future for our country then, and only then, will we have a chance to fight once again for the family, for our faith, and for a return of moral decency. That day, however, is still a long way off. We have work to do." I hope to remain on this side of the ground for a good while yet. Count me in.

This article really is depressing but it is accurate about the state of our country and how the progressives have won the cultural war due to controlling all the institutions of power and influence.

The author makes some valid points but his assertion that standing on MAGA policies is the key stepping stone may be overly optimistic. The left's counter to these pragmatic policies is to appeal to vanity and self will. Abortion and the power to 'identify' is their platform, and a powerful one. The serpent said to Eve in the Garden of Eden that, if she partook of the forbidden fruit, she would be like God. That was the overwhelming temptation and it persists today. The left proclaims that you can remake yourself into whatever form you envision. All of the media, education, politics and policies support the serpent's lie. Each generation is losing a greater proportion to this lie. So the author's hope that we can unite around pragmatic policies is based on the idea that an individuals decisions are based on reasoning and and pragmatism are a bit overstated. All leftist politicians have to do is massage their target's self will, and they're doing a great job. The author is a bit overly optimistic. The degredation of the nation follows the degredation of the culture. But there is good news! Christ's message of hope, mercy and forgiveness will stand as a sanctuary when the storm is darkest!

Clearly the wimpy Republicans had better come up with a more modern stance of the issue of abortion or they are going to experience the same electoral result as occurred in the 2022 off year election last November. Simply outlawing all abortions these days is not going to fly!

Blue Blood republicans of the Northeast never had much good to say about those bitter clingers with their Church and NASCAR and guns and all that American first patriotism. Couldn't be bothered to defend McCarthy or what he was trying to expose. And their antiCommunist cousins, the John Birches are weirdos. That was Goldwaters base, they hated him and them. That was Reagan's base, they hated him and them. Bush I ran against the moral majority in 1992 with young Karl Rove as part of the campaign team. That "where else they gonna go?" and "social issues are divisive, that cultural war talk is garbage" has been the mantra of Karl Rove ever since. We need not to exclude gays, they have money and they vote, hence the Karl Rove gay connection. So we have two Bush administrations uncomfortable with people of faith who dn't want government in their lives, much less trying to socially change the culture so deeply rooted in faith. We have a government run by those who are not indifferent but hostile to religion and people of faith. And that hostility is manifested in government of pedophile Epstein visitors, proabortion eugnics luving bureacrats in charge of the CDC, the FBI and on down. Thanks so much to the Bush Cheney Rove Romney republicans who brought us here with their foot on the gas.

Conservatives lost the culture war because they too often accept the left’s premises. Conservatives just want to be nice people and want everyone else to be nice. Until the right learns to do what needs to be done to defeat the left, it will continue to lose.

Actually there are two paths forward, one is the Trump path which is very fraught, the other is a hot civil war. I really, really hope that we can avoid the second option.

So much bashing of conservatives by folks who know a conservative if one jumped on their back and bit them in the neck. I suppose it'll become anti-conservative, MAGA-wisdom that after the ravages of James Earl Carter, it was Trump who built a six hundred ship Navy , caused the Soviet Union to collapse, and made patriotism cool once again.

went to church on Sunday. I used to go all the time. I am not sure why I stopped. Maybe it was because Sundays morphed into a day to sleep-in, have brunch with friends, and then watch sports until evening, living the “Sunday-funday” lifestyle. Regardless of why I went to church on Sunday or why I stopped going, I left thinking to myself, I want to come back again next week. It also made me think, perhaps we should all go back to church (or synagogue, or the mosque). Fewer and fewer Americans are attending religious services, and our society is reflecting the loss of morality.

America has an undeniable, serious problem with gun violence and firearm deaths. The debate about how to solve it revolves around whether guns are the cause or a symptom of deeper societal issues. In truth, whether cause or symptom, gun violence in the young does not lend itself to a single solution. It is a multifactorial problem that is obscured by a recent alarming statistic, currently being disseminated in the media and scientific literature. Rather than an argument for a ban on AR-15s or a defense of the Second Amendment, this piece is meant to clarify that misleading statistic.
