Biden's Electric Car Target Has a Problem—Many
Americans Don't Want Them

Some 41 percent of U.S. adults would not buy an electric car, according to an April 12 Gallup poll of a random sample of 1,009 people. This, if extrapolated to the wider population, would represent around 106 million Americans who are against a key plank of Joe Biden's vision of a green economy. While this comprises a sizeable minority, the survey, conducted between March 1-23, found that a majority of 55 percent either currently own or were considering owning an electric vehicle (EV). Those against buying an EV tended to be older, and 71 percent of those who identified as

Just 17% of Dems say would not buy an EV. So let them be the Guinea Pigs and fork out $60K + for their next vehicle.

Besides a large number of Americans not wanting electric cars, you can safely bet that a big percentage of the Americans who said they would buy electric cars actually don’t have the big bucks necessary to buy an electric cars.

"Many" is incorrect. "Most" , would be an understatement. Any who have actually researched EVs, their manufacture and reliability would consider an EV only if it was gifted to them, and then only if they only ever used it for short commutes.

I will not even consider an electric car until the price has come down and the technology makes them a viable option to gas powered cars. Quick charges and longer between charges, towing capacity, and infrastructure to make them competitive.

The supply chain shortages of vital rare metals for electric vehicles belies the lie that the greenies want us all to have such vehicles. They don't. They only want the elites to have them.....for show, while using hummers and armoured limos for daily use. The rest of us can walk (like in North Korea) or ride bikes (like in China) or use buses. Whichever we get, we will be trapped inside a 15 minute city.

People whose measured intelligence falls on the right side of the Bell Curve can see immediately that the logistics and the ideas behind an electric fairyland are impossible using current physics, infrastructure and power generation methods limited to wind and solar. In plain English there is not enough electricity in the country to power and run 300 million cars and there won't be anytime in the next hundred years. A rush program to create enough nuclear power plants to produce that power will drive the green weenies nuts and they are the same group trying to eliminate the internal cumbustion engine. Looks like a Catch 22 to me.

No doubt a majority will balk when the reality of range, charging issues and cost become understood. Commercial charging stations will cost 4X to 5X home charging eliminating any advantage unless you have a dedicated 220V home hookup. It will decades before charging stations are as common as gas station pumps.

In the meantime, there are no electric generating facilities being built. And a recent article reported that it had taken 15 years to get a federal permit for a 750 mile transmission line. That is just the permit. The greenies probably have not yet launched their lawfare filings to tie it up in the court system. So when you plug in your car charger, where is all that extra electricity coming from? On one hand, the feds say you must only sell electric cars. On the other hand, they say you do not get a permit to build generating facilities and they are actually going to close down certain types of power generating facilities.
